hi dear gambling friends
I am heading Vegas in Christmas time and i would like to know which casinos (strip/ downtown/ off-strip) have STA bet (with the better payout preferably) so i can plan my vacation based on it. i found couple of websites about it but they are all outdated or significantly incomplete. I know it is a sucker bet but we don't have it in Canada and i really want to try it.
Thanks

It is rare that I am stumped by gaming terminology, but for the life of me I can't figure out what the STA bet is?
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

It's a craps bet offered by some casinos.

Was just in LV, and what I do know is that CET properties and Stevens properties(The D & Golden Gate) offer STA. Forget about trying to find the better payout.

I know the Golden Nugget had it at some point; might be worth a peek if you're on Fremont.

If you call the casino 800 or main number, (the actual property, not their room reservation line) ask to speak to the pit or casino floor, they will nearly all put you through right to the tables. Anyone who answers the phones in the pit will know if they do and won't mind you calling. Hardly anybody outside the pit will be able to tell you. I would suggest you call the places you would most like to play and ask.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I believe Sam's Town had it and at a relatively good payout. I only suggest SamsTown because no matter what place you chose to stay at, SamsTown is relatively convenient to get to.

I agree a call to the pit or atleast to the Director of Table Games will get you a prompt and above all accurate response. Don't ignore a casino's 'twitter stream' also.

Vegas has an indeterminate and unofficial "Dead Week". I've not looked at a calendar this year but during the Christmas season Dead Week it is often possible to get great room rates and great comps. New Years Eve will be expensive of course but hotels and casino hosts offer good deals during Dead Week because otherwise the casinos tend to be .... well, dead! No crowds at all.

FWIW I just saw it yesterday at Bellagio but the payoffs look pretty bad:

30 to 1 Small, Tall
150 to 1 All

What is an STA bet and how does it work?

We call it ATS or All Tall Small. The OP is calling it STA for whatever reason.

It's a multi-roll bet. Each time a new shooter comes out, any player can play any or all of those 3 bets. Any 7, including a come out 7, kills them, and they have to be replaced to continue the bet.

Any other roll, the number gets marked, craps and 11 included.

Each number other than 7 is in a group. 2-3-4-5-6 is a group called "small". 8-9-10-11-12 is called "tall" . Both groups are "all".

All of the numbers within a group must be rolled at least once by that shooter before he rolls a 7. Doesn't matter what the point is or any other bets you make.

Small and Tall pay the same. On completion of either, the bets are paid odds, and the other bets continue. If the other one wins, it gets paid, as does the All. Once the whole bet is paid or the shooter 7s out, the 3 bets are offered again.

I don't think they reset the side that just won until the whole 3 bets are resolved. I could be wrong, and would appreciate verification on that point.

Caesars, Linq, Planet Hollywood (i think on one table), Bellagio, MonteCarlo (I think), Wynn, Encore all have it. Not sure of Stations. Payouts these days as noted are 30:1 for small and tall and 150:1 for all (Caesars I think all are 1 higher). They used to be higher; 35:1 and 175:1. Wynn was first to reduce I believe. They also dropped the 3/4/5 max odds several years ago. I no longer play at Wynn.

I read something the other day indicating Wynn had gone back to 3/4/5 if it really matters to you/anyone. I'm often amused by those who care but never bet more than double odds no matter what is offered. Take Cromwell for instance, trying to be innovative and offering 100X odds. I doubt they get more than one player a week who takes them up on this very kind offer. Maybe craps players will go there hoping to see a person actually taking 100 X odds?

I have only seen one local casino reset a winning side (Coushatta in Louisiana) and none in Vegas of the ones I have played at reset the bet until the entire set of three is resolved.

In 4 hours of play over 2 days last week at The Cromwell, I saw 3 different people taking full 100X odds, as well as many others taking well more than 3x4x5x odds.

When I lived in the Chicago area and gambled at Horseshoe in Hammond, In.(100x odds) a lot of heavy hitters took 100x odds.

It happens much more than you think, and it also is helpful for players like me who progress odds on wins. I start at $30 odds and progress pretty aggressively on wins and have actually hit 100x odds on a $10 table when the shooter made 12 points.

Agree. When I play craps I’ll place the inside and buy the outside when I want a fast gamble. I’d much rather be put betting at 100x odds to get to the same value at risk. And if I’m in the mood to come bet, I’d rather $10 at 100x than $200 at 3/4/5.
The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong; but that is the way to bet.

Apparently it does. I'd love to see that $2 table with 50x odds in Colorado, but Colorado flights are expensive and their laws are horrendous, so I'll just keep The Cromwell in mind instead. I know it was eons ago but I've often wished I could have been at Binion's Horseshoe when a guy walked in and put $240,000 on the line and Benny Binion never hesitated, he just said "book it".

Stations resets a winning side immediately and allow more bets. Why wouldn't they?

I have only seen it to resolution.

I would think there would be opportunities for confusion on whether the All has been completed, after the first side has been hit, reset, while the dealers rotate thru a couple times, first side hits again, reset, then the other side finally hits. Maybe the box has changed, could be an argument where they are on the bet. avoidable problem just because the bet has the potential to go a half-hour or more.

Maybe it could be (or is) resolved with an additional marker into the All field when one side has hit. Or some other continuation cue.

I don't deal, so chances are you know more about it than I do. But the easy and sure way is no reset.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

When the small or tall hits, the buttons are turned over to the back side. This shows that it has hit at least once, and bets are allowed to be placed. The other side still shows the number side of the button.

When all the buttons are face down, that means the ALL has been hit. At that point, everything resets anyway.

I have seen players make the SMALL or the TALL 3 or 4 times without completing the other side. Each time they hit, they have the option to come back up for that side again.

It may be easier to see it in action than to try to explain it.

Horseshoe in Hammond also resets the ATS as it hits. Last time I saw the all hit, it happened immediately after the small. So the small hit and reset (dealer asks if you want to go back up on the small). The next roll the tall hit, so that reset, and since no small numbers had been rolled, the all reset also. Usually the all won't reset since frequently at least one number from the other side has been rolled.

The first time I hit one side (the small), the dealer asked if I wanted back up on it. I laughed and said what are the chances and didn't bet. I then rolled the five small numbers in five rolls.

Thank you for posting your experiences. Mine differ but are somewhat dated back to Binion's 100X on 1.usd. Times and gamblers change.
