So I was playing the don'ts on one side of the table, and there were a couple other high rollers at the other side of the table. Anyways one of them is this really fat short guy, he's almost like a midget he's so short. This guy is a high roller unlike the other two guys I had an incident with. He does $25 come bets every roll and then does $500 odds, and presses them up quite a bit.

Anyways he also doesn't like don't players. Playing at his table wouldn't have been my original choice but when I walked passed his table to check it out, he immediately 7'd out and got mad and said "It's that don't player again, the kiss of death". Because he was such a jerk, I decided to get in on the game.

Anyways he refused to bet when I shot the dice, and he would constantly talk smack. He would scream at me, "Bet all your money, I want you to loose so you will leave". He even told me to "jump off a bridge" a few times and he called me the "Kiss of death".

This guy took out multiple $25,000 markers as he was losing his shirt. If he was having a good roll and knocked my don't bet down, I stopped betting after he made his first point he would get mad and say "Come on put more money down!". He would bitch at me, and blame me for 7ing out often claiming that I intentionally put a stack of green chips on my lay so the dice would hit the chips and he'd go out.

Anyways I finally decided to leave the table after 2 or 3 hours. I said to him "Hey you finally got your wish I'm leaving" and as soon as I said that the floor manager comes up to me and says "Your talking s****" and he starts reprimanding me. So I said to him "This guy has been talking S*** to me the entire night" and he says "If you have a problem with it, you come to me"

So basically because he buys in for 50 or 75K (He took out at least two markers) he's aloud to insult me all day but if I say anything to him, I get yelled at. Not sure if this is right or wrong. I had about $200 on the table per shooter average, he had several thousand dollars. Is it fair that a guy that bets thousands of dollars and takes out $25,000 markers can insult other players and get away with it, and if I talk back the floor manager says something to me?

I actually wish I stayed at that table because I went to a $15, lower dollar amount table where I got crushed, and I could see he was almost out of purple on his 3rd $25,000 marker.

Sounds like a rough situation to be in. I think that you had grounds to say something to the boss like, "hey, could you keep an eye on this guy, he's being confrontational and aggressive". But if you don't say something like that, of course they will favor and cater to him.

It is no secret that money talks in this world. High rollers will get preferential treatment to low rollers and will get away with more. Casino floor managers aren't really all that different than the prostitutes that run around.

To play devil's advocate. Is it fair for you to walk right up to the front of the line because you have a higher tier card than I do? While an accepted form of line cutting, many people find it insulting. If you say yes, then you have agreed to the concept that money talks in a casino. In your example the money might be talking too much, but you knew that might happen before you went to the casino.

There was one shot where he had a $100 passline bet (We have 100x odds) and he put $6,000, the most I saw him bet on a single play all night. He hit it (point was either 5 or 9), he wins $9,000 and starts shouting at me at the tough of his lungs "I'm a winner and your a loser!"

After he had that big win, the table got extremely cold and I'm not kidding you, we went about 10 shooters without anybody making a point, including several of those being immediate 7 outs. So on one of the last rolls of that cold streak he put the rest of his chips behind his passline bet as odds and immediately goes out. He was cleaned out and got another $25,000 marker. I so badly wanted to shout back at him "I'm a winner! and your a loser!"

And btw: I'm actually undecided about this issue. I don't have a problem with somebody getting to cut in the cashout line because of a higher tier, but does being an extremely big better give you the right to talk smack all night to another player and get away with it, while another player can't talk back? I don't know.

Agreed you should have said something to the floor if he was truly bothering you. I guess I'm glad it's you and not me in that situation. I always have to keep quiet in blackjack as to not draw attention, but whenever I bet the don'ts in craps and someone gives me any kind of mouth I throw it RIGHT back at them, pointing out how mathematically challenged they must be to think betting red/black somehow is against one another, or banker/player... etc. I'd have a field day with this guy... "If you know I'm going to make you throw a 7... hop the 7's for $5k each and you're welcome for your big win!" ..."Here, I'll set my lay RIGHT HERE so you'll 7 out, quick, bet the 7! We're in this together PARTNER!"

Basically, since he was such a high roller I probably would have been asked to leave. I can't stand non-mathematical, non-logical idiots and their voodoo superstitions. It just shows how stupid they really are, and how much of an asshole they really are to people not affecting the action one bit.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

I talked to one of the pitbosses that I'm friendly with that works mornings about this. He told me "We treat everybody fairly but we don't treat everybody the same", which I guess means if your in for $75,000 you can pretty much murder somebody and the casino won't care. Not saying thats wrong but it's nice to see the casino admit that.

The guy is getting crushed and you are talking trash to him. Once one person is losing a lot, I think it's a lot different than if both people are relatively even. I would say the kind of person who would do that either doesn't know what it's like to lose a huge sum of money (relatively) or doesn't have a lot of empathy. Either way, your behavior is acceptable if you're a 20something, and not if you're an adult.

In case you haven't figured this one out yet... life is not always fair. Especially when it comes to what money gets you.

The fact that he's getting crushed doesn't give him the right to talk trash to me, but being down $75,000 does give him the right to talk trash to me I guess.

There's only so much trash talk I can take though.

Of course money talks. High rollers can get away with murder. I thought this was common knowledge?

What's more surprising is how many people seem to be unable to deal with these types. You could make this chap blow his top without a word. He's telling you everything that makes him mad! If he bitches about Don't players, play the Don't. Even better, only do it when he's shooting. If he bitches about your puny $20 bet, drop it to $10. If he wants you to bet, don't. If he doesn't want you to, do. You never need address him, never need even look at him. Just keep a dopey smile on your face and do whatever pisses him off. If you never look at him, never address him, you can never be reprimanded by the floor. Worst case he assaults you, and then you can pile drive his stumpy ass through the roulette table and then sue him for it.

Or you can be an adult and ignore it. Either is better than letting some jackwagon get under your skin.

I've seen a lot of don't players and never witnessed anyone harassed. Yet you've been harassed twice now in a short period of time. Could be a small sample size thing. Could also be you. You aren't screaming "Come on 7!" every time a point has been established, are you?

Put the macho away and use your brain. As Face suggested, be silent and let your actions piss him off if you feel you can't ignore the taunts. If he's an asshole, let the floor tell him so. The outfit that just took his $75K telling him to clean up his act is going to REALLY put a kink in his kielbasa. And you won't be in the line of fire.

My average bet was $200 not "$10" and I bet on every shooter. It was nice to see this guy after all the trash talk take $25,000 marker after $25,000 marker out, only to see those chips shrink into nothing.

This attitude that whales have of "how dare you bet against me" is ridiculous. Everybody is betting against the house.

It is sad but true fact, heavy hitters receive extra consideration from management. Although unfortunate, it's good business. This doesn't mean high rollers should be allowed to insult or try to intimidate ANY other players regardless of the size of their buy-in or average bet size. If this kind of rude behavior permitted, that's BAD business...

If you had mentioned something to a floor supervisor they probably would have said something to the high roller to quiet down a bit. They won't ask him to leave of cours since he's dumping money but I've never seen them openly ignore a request if someone is truly being loud and bothering and insulting others.

as a Don't player, I often just play the DC only ... for the sake of shooters on my side of the table. Slows down my betting, but that is a good thing actually. If somebody on the other side of the table has remarks to make, I might give them the treatment Face is talking about.

A gesture for some Peace. It works.

money talks everywhere you go especially in the casino industry. High rollers can talk on the phone all they want while playing, they can stop in the middle of the roll to talk and smoke and make phone calls. Everybody gotta wait for them versus somebody with 10 on the pass line they will dump the bowl and pass your roll if they want.

Sadly, " money talks & B.S. walks" isn't a overused cliche in the gaming industry. It's not fair, especially in a situation like this, where some overfunded, ill mannered boor like this, assumes that since he's got a robust line of credit and there's someone (since he was blowing his brains out, you were winning?) betting philosophy is the exact opposite, that it's his duty to talk shizzit "just 'cause he can". Even taking a floor boss aside to complain probably isn't going to resolve the situation. A previous poster made the sly suggestion to " innocently" make moves that'll drive him crazy, that seems like this most satisfying tactic. I see similar arseholes where I work. We just silently hold them in the utmost contempt, while staying below the radar. As a dealer, I always try to have the wrong bettors backs, (unless they're some idiot yelling "SEVEN" every role), simply because they aren't "betting with the house" or in cahoots with the owners, they're making an informed decision based on the math and probabilities involved.

I mix it up sometimes and play the don't. But, usually most people don't give me a ton of crap about it. I'll usually stand in a corner and am pretty discreet about it. I suppose your situation is a bit different with a high roller. Unfortunately, the casinos tend to coddle those players so there isn't much you can do about it. As others advised, subtle moves to get under the guy's skin are probably the best approach to take. If you are playing the don't, you do have to be prepared for people to not appreciate it.

I once saw a situation in a poker room where they were combining games and simultaneously seating new players. So there were a lot of players milling about trying to get seated. One middle-aged guy got seated and then a younger player asked the supervisor, "Hey, I was coming from the broken game, and he was in the line, but we got here at the same time. Shouldn't I have priority?"

The supervisor looked at him and paused for a couple of seconds, and then, with a slightly apologetic tone, said "Yes, you are...but the thing is, he's a Seven Star...so he kinda just gets to do whatever he wants." The young guy looked back, and said, "Oh, well...okay, thanks for being honest."

It was such a great moment of transparency in the casino. The young guy got seated very shortly after that and we agreed we liked the way the supervisor handled it.

It directly addresses the OP's question whether someone betting a lot of money results in special privileges, even at the expense of other players. It's an explicit quote from a casino supervisor that this is indeed the case, at least sometimes.

I don't have any problems with what he said to you. I would suggest having thicker skin. The guy may be down thousands and is just having a bad day/week/month/year. He might have cancer or is dealing with a terminal medical issue. He might have accidentally run over his dog earlier that day.

I get what you're saying, but it's fair to expect some standard of civility. Whether or not I have thick skin, if given the choice I would rather not have someone maniacally trash-talking me for no real reason. We're not robots, and it's obnoxious on the part of the other player.

It wasn't the OP being a jerk. I don't get how anyone can fault OP for the fact that someone is yelling "you're a loser" at him. It's on the yeller to knock it off, because that's rude and unacceptable.
