I respect your opinion and the opinions of others, even Zcore. The table was empty at the time this occurred. Generally ALL of my big action play occurs at an empty table. There are very few exceptions. When I play on a full table, I typically bet very small, and I play to be social.

When I am gambling on my own toss with high dollar amounts on an empty table, it's not the game that most of you folks are familiar with.

And I do challenge the dealers, and I do expect them do be interested in their jobs and not whine and whimper and complain.

I do occasionally bet bigger on a table with other green or black chip action, and in that case, I bet more in a standard way. But the take-away here is that there isn't just one way to play the game, and that's part of what makes the game fascinating.

The dealers should be able to handle all types of bets. $108 x 5/6 = 90 with vig being $5. Either that casino changed the vig rules mid roll or Ahigh mistakenly paid the vig up front with the dealer pocketing the money. Either way, Ahigh was shorted $5.

OTOH, to come back a week later and then still hold the $190 chip on one's shoulder is typical for Ahigh -- to expect the casino pit and floor to react to something that happened a week ago is just unexpected.

For example, a week ago, I was playing softball, and the umpire made a bad call against a rule. I protested, was told that I was wrong, and I dropped it, thinking there was something in the rules where I was wrong. I went home, checked the rules, and found that I was indeed right. I face that umpire again tomorrow night. Even though I knew I was right and it is fresh in my mind, a week of umpiring experience has passed for the umpire. He probably barely remembers the ruling and probably stopped thinking about it when he opened up his first beer at the end of last week's game. If I were to confront him again with the rulebook in hand, chances are he wouldn't even remember the circumstances of the call in the first place, and if he did, he would probably say -- "what, you're still thinking about that?"

When you are dealing with customers all of the time, your individual experiences are quickly forgotten. Your experience, as a customer, is different than the experiences of the pit, who deal with issues all of the time. So, Ahigh, for you to come back to the casino and talk about an experience you had a week ago has no power and is almost non-sequitor. Of issue, and only of issue, is the current payout, not something that happened a week ago. That's your ego at work.

The only attack I am making to Ahigh's character is that he has a "big" ego. I mean, how did you expect the casino staff to reply to your remark about the erroneous payout the week before?

This is turning into a great craps thread!

All the elements that get craps enthusiasts actually thinking about the game realistically.

Good points above by Flea and Rs, gives me something else to consider about sultry dealers at empty tables. Maybe its not just how they are but somewhat have a reason, so I will think about that when I belly up to a vacant table. Thanks for putting that out there.

We have a little edgyness, some drama and the always classy Babs. These are all the reasons I come to the forum, never for character assasination.

And like it or not, who was the OP?

Edit; my bad, I typed sultry instead of surly. Surely an error, wonder where my mind was?

In support of their false beliefs, just as they did.

Look, at the end of the day, their job is to keep me coming back and losing more money.

They failed. And that's what I informed them of when I left.

They can now deal to $5 six and $5 eight and $3 five and $3 nine again and a near complete lack of tips.

Bye <nameless pit>. You have been returned to your comfort zone.

The crews seem to remember some things more than others.

Is this what you think was the best response to the umpire? You have the rules in your hand and you are going to let them go on and make bad calls. Is this for a youth team? What kind of responsible adult does that? Everyone else is affected by that bad call and go off in their lives thinking the ruling is correct. There will be tons of arguments and hard feeling down steam because YOU wouldn't correct an error even with the rulebook to back you up.

That is pretty typical of what I've run into though for decades.

All that it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Edmund Burke.

That is the essence of the problem.

So that is what we have. Good people stand by and let an injustice slide by, not wanting to be involved. People use to try to get me to fix things and their excuse was they would do it but they had kids, or a mortgage or whatever reason so they didn't have to stand up.

So what is going on with this thread is people want the results of Ahigh educating these break ins but they also want to badmouth him here with the safety of anonymity. Well there you have it folks, some things never change. The good ole boy nepotism sycophantic rules of employment will continue as they have for a thousand years, and third rate, low wage dealers will be the norm. [ Play on the Amazing rhythm aces]

It's like not liking how things are going and wanting the government to fix it, clue...they arn't going too. Somebody somewhere has to stand up and be counted.

I play "craps."

What game do you play?

FWIW, I would never attempt to confuse or set up a dealer to fail, most especially a break in.

I double dog dare you to take your bag of tricks to MGM some Friday or Saturday night and see how the Big Boys deal with you.

It may be that you would benefit from being taken to the woodshed by a competent crew.

Whoa there! Big difference between "surly" dealers and "sultry" dealers. LOL.

Not all players think in terms of casino shifts and EO lists, but it is, at times, something to be aware of in determining your options and your probability of having a pleasant and helpful craps crew. If they really want to go home early, they won't be as helpful to you as they might have been at the start of their shift.

I do go to MGM properties. I was at Mandalay Bay last Friday night and I was playing at a $25 table. There were absolutely no problems and I had a great time.

I did do a few lay bets, and there were no problems. The only even hint of a bump was the vig is on the win for the lay four and ten and up front for the lay 5, 6, 8, 9. I forgot when I laid a four and the vig got tossed back at me. I actually knew this, but forgot at the moment.

Dealers made no mistakes that I remember, and I didn't expect them to make any.

Just to the right of this photo, busloads of kids were loading up for the EDC.

I took this photo before I went in there. But I think you misunderstand if you think I'm trying to confuse anyone, I'm not. I just expect that I'm allowed the bet any way I choose to bet, and I enjoy doing just that.

Hopefully you realize that the mathematical computational skills of the MGM crew far exceeds that of new dealers at a break-in joint.

Of course you do.

So, knowing that, why would you patronize break-in joints, when the nature of your play requires more competent dealers?

Ahigh, I have enjoyed some of your threads and posts, but you're way overplaying this hand.

You knew they would have trouble with bets outside the ordinary because they may not even be able to handle "normal" betting patterns...but you did it anyway. Because you could. They made mistakes and you did not handle it the way it should have been handled--up the chain, to gaming if necessary, that night. You left. Then you brought it back up again...

I don't think they will miss you...

Yeah, I don't think they'll miss me at all either. I did have fun going into this place. But like the Fiesta properties, it just gets old for them after a while. This is definitely preferable to getting 86'd!

No doubt they won't shed a tear for me not coming back.

I'm sure they would be happy to. If I ran a craps table, I would take those bets all day. Those are hugely profitable bets!
