There are some games in a casino that are better than others, I like 4 card poker playing only the
bonus bet, if your getting cards, Flush offers a chance to make a good deal of money for the average player.

Craps is by far the best game in the casino to play if you really want to get into it. There are many ways to play and
bet and there is the throw which for a number of people is a good tool to make money.

Any involvement you want is available from the pass line and two come bet player to the across better or the dont player.
You can lose quickly or slower depending on how much you want to bet. You can have a few good days . The best part of craps
is it allows those that are inclined to really learn the game, learn a toss or two and have a chance to change the outcomes
in your faver more often.

The game allows you to play what ever kind of game you want.

No other game allow the variety of options.

My personal definition of the word "casino" is "a place that has a craps table."

To me, it's not the best game in the casino, it's what makes a casino a casino.

I am still fascinated by the dynamics of the characters and the dynamics of the game that is still enigmatic to those who have been around the game for decades, while the game itself has been around for ages, with stories woven into our culture from writings over decades, centuries, and millennia.

well theY were playing craps because they did not have a job
or they lost all their money on NTEK in the other casino

I could be wrong there, some of them playing craps in the
back alley may have in fact had a job.

I did. My job was protection for the guy running the game. Not that he really need any. Lol Jack always said he was never afraid of anybody who turned their back or went to sleep.

The lower limit "back alley" venues are often the most entertaining. Sometimes there is an inverse relationship between intelligence and the entertainment value of another player at the table. The same can also sometimes be true for people who post to this forum.

I bought in initially for $666 dollars a couple of weeks ago and it ended up being a serious bloodbath. I would share the amount I lost, except that too many people would derive pleasure from knowing the details.

Yeah, I'm okay. I've never lost more than $10,000 in a session FWIW. I'm small time.

I bought this (cash) a few days ago.

I was planning to buy something nicer last November, but IGT thwarted those plans with their lawyerly ways. I had to scrimp and save (and wait and drive my older car) to get this instead.

Also, I made some instructional craps videos this morning aimed at the beginner craps player. I will be finishing and editing them over the weekend. Basically covering all the stuff that I see in terms of "beginner mistakes" to avoid. Trying to fill the voids for telling people things that I see that beginner players should know before approaching the tables that most books and instructional videos don't cover on the game.

I am not a professional gambler. I own my home. I have paid cash for the last six cars I have purchased. I am worth more than what I owe on my house, and I consider it "paid for" even though I do pay a 3.25% interest on the little bit that I owe on it. None of it has anything to do with gambling, and all of this is in response to any inquiries of whether or not I'm "okay."

There is plenty of schadenfreude on this board, unfortunately. But for anybody who is genuinely worried about me, please don't be. I'm fine. I have a very conservative lifestyle when it comes to living within my means.

I've bought three cars in the last two years. I have a wife and a 16-year-old daughter. So two of the last three were for my girls.

I went through motorcycles a lot more quickly though. I think I've done the same routine with motorcycles and bought just as many of them with cash.

I usually lose about $1,000 to $1,500 per vehicle from depreciation on motorcycles and about $2,000 to $5,000 from depreciation on cars.

It's my opinion that it's where many people go wrong financing a new vehicle, paying tax, and fees, interest, full coverage insurance, and all the other add-ons.

Although I do bet that I'm not going to be at-fault for a collision and lose value in my car for my own bad driving. That's an advantage bet from my view.

I buy new cars because I like new cars. I'm aware that it's more expensive. It's something that I'm willing to pay for.

Same with fast cars. I am not particularly concerned with luxury but when I floor it I want it to go, and I want tight handling.

We're getting pretty far off topic, but I've bought exactly one new car in my life and unless I win the lottery or something I suspect that will remain true until I die.

Last vehicle I bought was in February of '13, a 2010 Mercury Milan. Paid cash. I have not had a car payment of any sort in well over 15 years and I aim to keep it that way.

Last night it certainly wasn't. Cold as ice the entire time I played. Maybe one decent roll. Amazing how it can be consistently bad for a while. Of course there were some come out 7s and 11s so the DP players weren't consistently winning either.

I didn't see anyone play the DP and take full odds but over the night they would have made a lot of money.

Just got back from a last second decision to spend the weekend at Harrah's Cherokee. My blog will have the trip details, but here is a summary of the craps play.

Decided to play a heavy, 'go for it' this trip.

5x odds to start, 10x odds after a point was made. $15 and $25 tables
$135 across
The Buy 4 and 10 progression was $25, $75, $150, $300, $600, $1000.
5 and 9 progression was $25, $50, $75, $100, and then by $100 thereafter.
6 and 8 progression was $30, $60, $90, $150, $300, $600, $900.

Had 4 winning sessions in a row, with average bet rating over $270 each time. Small wins the first 2 sessions, but then had very nice wins on sessions 3 and 4. After winning a nice $1 Ultimate X quad As, and a nice $600 BJ win, I stupidly lost 2 $1,000 sessions at craps to end the trip, but still came home with 4x my trip BR.

Who says craps is not the best game in the casino????????

I don't, - I think craps is the ONLY game if I had to chose one single game, and over poker and all its derivatives - along with a gazillion others.

Granted, we are considered mostly old school and old aged, but it is really THE game.

No better game design in gambling history.

I don't look at them as "games" although that's what we call them. To me, everything in a casino is just a proposition to make a wager on.

then you can play one-roll games like Scossa and Sic Bo.

One can argue that Shakespeare's works are nothing more than a random assemblage of the letters of the alphabet - if you break it down as such.

Some well-designed games have a REALLY well-designed process of seduction of gambling process - where the whole game-play process is greater than sum of the parts. Money play Poker games are a very good example.

Like Shakespeare's amalgams of the alphabet, it's ain't random, it's full design..... I for one will not look at a Ferrari as a collection of incremental and trivial mechanical improvements; most knowledgeable people don't even look at a Jackson Pollack as a "collection of random brush strokes." Ten Million women have blond hair and blue eyes, (but there's only one Angela [Wyatt]. :) )

This is true - you got me here, really. ALL games that appeal - and that work - are 100% valid, and I really can't say that Craps or poker is 'better'.

You do have me here, it is subjective.

If a game works for you on its own terms, then it really works, period, end of story.

And just because I don't think it's the best, it certainly isn't the worst.

I can dig it. Like I said, if the game works for your gambling action, then fine, but there IS a wider and common consensus on the GREAT games, and Craps and Poker are it, and because there is a "draw" or "journey" to it - they are NOT pay table side bets in their entirety.

Let me say that I AM a dice generate, and a poker game degenerate.

You should have seen me today at the M casino. Brent (MoneySuit31) is both a witness and a partner in crime this afternoon.

I'm gonna hear it from the Mrs. tonight, checking on that Chase Bank balance.....yeow, I am in TROUBLE.......and last night at the East Side Cannery....again, the Straight Flush with the KJ up saved me..................

I do know what games have REAL gambling juice. This is my business. There is no doubt here about a red hot crap game, or about nailing good long poker game streak, - there is nothing really like it.

I cannot picture my life without this.

I'm about to merge bank accounts with my wife-elect after the wedding, and I plan on keeping a rather large discretionary cash fund in my safe, to finance my gambling habits. Just got back from Cherokee like 10 minutes ago. Jim Gaffigan was great but he used some old material.

Good news is I won $95 which is about the cost of the Gaffigan ticket and the gas to drive to the casino. I played a $15 table on the dark side. Odds offered were 10X. I won two Don't bets laying $60 and one laying $90 after going negative in my first 1/2 hour of gambling. Craps is great!

I can confirm that you don't get free alcoholic beverages when gambling but you can request free soft drinks. The casino is very big. Probably twice the size of Mirage. They had 8 or 10 craps tables running. One $10, and 4 each of $15 and $25.

Tell her what you are doing and why before you tie the knot. I covered a lot of items in what I jokingly call our "premarital agreement" but actually it is no joke. For example, I explained that she would have to endure absences during hunting season, and that this was non-negotiable. That might indeed sound funny but I'd hate to count the number of guys I know who found their hunting days were over once they got married. Over America it must be a vast multitude.

I don't know the gambling universe all that well but I am ready to believe there is a vast multitude of guys who screwed this up there too.

The bickering over money that Dan describes cheerfully can progress to something ugly [let's hope not]. In my case I described to my spouse a brother who's wife has always controlled the money even to the point of deciding how much cash he should carry around, it it is OK to spend $20 on something, etc, etc. I told her for me, living like that would make me monumentally miserable.

My advice: nip this stuff in the bud now!

I would highly recommend this. When we had money it was an issue sometimes when she would see this money going in an out. That is when I took some out and it never went back it. I would always put my winnings in my desk drawer.

Now we are poor so it doesn't matter. Except for my royal today. That was fun.

All very good advice. We're generally on the same page when it comes to finances. I am definitely the more financially savvy of the two of us, so I will be handling things like investments and long-term planning. But we will likely have a shared Mint account with all of our bank account linked in.

She knows I gamble. She knows I gamble with an advantage most of the time, but also engage in recreational -EV gambling from time to time. She's okay with all of this, she just doesn't need to know about the magnitude of the swings up and down...hence my gambling bankroll will be "off the books" so to speak. I'm sure many of you, who have a non-gambling significant other, have been in this situation before.
SO: How'd you do?
Me: Won a few hundred bucks.
SO: Sweet! Why don't you buy me something nice?
...couple of days later....
SO: How'd you do?
Me: Lost a hundred bucks
SO: HOW COULD YOU GAMBLING IS TERRIBLE

I would highly recommend this. When we had money it was an issue sometimes when she would see this money going in an out. That is when I took some out and it never went back it. I would always put my winnings in my desk drawer.

Now we are poor so it doesn't matter. Except for my royal today. That was fun.

Glad it worked out for you, pretty much the same issue here :). Sorry you don't have as much gambling money these days.

LOL

I am fortunate in that my wife understands most of the concepts behind advantage play and pretty much lets me do whatever I want with the money in the bank. If I told her I lost $10,000 last night, a significant amount to us, she would say "okay" and then sarcastically tease me about how great of a play it was.

It has taken awhile, but she is actually now comfortable playing 100 play machines with me. In the old days she would be sweating and breaking out in hives when I played those.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Avoidance of the co7-11, doing a doey dont say of $10/$10 and make (your unit/money) on the Lay of the point. Yes you would not get paid on 2,3 craps 3/36 but you would not lose on a 7,11, 8/36 either.

Using a 2 stage Progression, a person would would stop and wait for the next shooter if he loses to 2 consecutive points made. I use to KILL this at SAMS town in Vegas bc of 100 x odds they had. Id go for a $50 unit go $5/$5 and make lays of $100 4-10 / $75 on 5-9 and $60 on 6 and 8. If i lost innitial Lev 1 bet id advance to L2 and go $200 on 4-10 / $150 on 5-9 and $120 on 6-8.

doing this strategy one can grind out 6 net wins ($300 at $50 units) in about 1-2 hrs on a normal table and a cold table about 30-45 minutes. Obviously table selection is key. look for racks not full...no one hooting and hollaring... quick, short rolls when the 7 coming...If it looks like the table is turning and you feel the energy shift to DO side play just take odds as opposed to Lay odds and use 2 step there on do side...

Worse case and it does happen if you stay for hours is the shooter who sets 4 or 10 and makes them btb on his point cycle. Talk about blowing. But it doesn't happen very often and usually you can get to your WIN GOAL before this happens. But when it does you Lose $100 and $200 for a net of -$300. It now takes 6 wins to get this back. No biggie, just grind them out.

Curious to what the ODDS are for a shooter to set a point of 4 then make his point cycle point, then establish another 4 or 10 and make it, all before throwing a 7 after the point of 4 or 10 on either # was set as point cycle #? Ill let this question be for the Odds Guru's on here... Thx for response in advance
