What are the limits on the craps machines in Vegas, particularly on the Strip.
Is it closer to $500 or closer to $10.

Thanks!

Do you mean maximums or minimums?

Based on the numbers you provided, my answer would be, "Yes."

For passlines, it was $3 min at the Rio and Paris. Max...ugh, I don't remember. At least $100, maybe more.

Seems most have a cumulative bet max (including odds) of $250 to $500. Mins range from $1-$3.

I think most Shoot To Win craps machines on the strip have a $2 to $3 minimum, with $250 to $500 maximum.

The Shoot To Win machine at the Eldorado has a $1 minimum with a $2500 maximum.

Wow, that's great. I assume no tax forms like regular craps at the tables on big wins, right?

I am going to guess that it is just the opposite: the only bet at a craps table that gets a W2G is the Fire Bet if you happen get the big 6 payoff with enough $$ bet. I've hit the five number payoff for $1250 and for $2500 and never got a W2G. Ive seen players walk away from a craps table with a $100,000+ profit regularly and one player win 3-million and they never got a W2G.

But I am going to "guess" that because its a slot machine if you win $1200 or more you're going to get a W2G.

Am I wrong or correct about this Shoot To Win players??

Is it classified as a slot machine or a table game with no human dealers?

Both.
A lot of the STW machines have such low limits, its impossible to get a +$1199 win, therefore you cannot get a W2G.
However, there are some which allow for larger odds and passline bets, as well as more than $25 on a 30:1 (hop, horn), so you could achieve a +$1199 payout in one shot.
I can't remember where in Vegas, but I saw one that allowed $50 bets on 30:1, and someone hit a 12 for $1500.

I called the El Dorado in Henderson, and unfortunately, I can provide no useful information.

I spoke to someone with an unusual name beginning in the letter, "A," which I asked her to repeat, but still couldn't tell what she said. She was very nice, though seemed to be in a hurry, and told me that they literally just took out the only Craps machine they had today. I asked her if, theoretically, a win of over $1,200 would be treated the same as a slot machine win for tax purposes; she did not know the answer...and asked someone else who also didn't know...she told me that they never experienced such a win on that machine and apologized for having no idea.

In CA and Nevada, I have about 10 W2Gs from Shoot to win Craps and Organic Craps games.
A $40 bet that pays 30 to 1 is the easiest way to hit this.

Every time my total pay including my original bet was $1200 or more, the machine would 'LOCK OUT'
and I had to wait to play after a reset and a W2G.
Talk about a pita!
That is why so many have lowered their limits for these games.
I mean, CP on the strip has a MAX total bets of $500 and just $300 max on a place bet???
Ruins the 'up on a win' playing method that IS fun!!

Do you remember if that person got a W2G? And if they did get one, did it halt the entire game for all other players?

Just the terminal for the player
here is a $50 12 win and the total was for $1550 that included my original wager.
I did also have a Field and C&E bet that won that was not included.
They were nice for that

Slower definitely, but how does it make it worse unless you are breaking the law and not declaring your gambling wins unless they are reported on a W2G.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Oh, no.

Well, let's hope that they are doing so because they intend to reinstate a craps table.

In this context we should replace "unless you are breaking the law" with "unless you have half a brain."

I won 2.2K in Jean on Shoot to Win, no W2. The casino manager told me they are not considered slot machines so no W2 was required. I bet different casinos interpret the rules differently.

But - I didn't win that on one roll - I had built it up from $100. Perhaps that is the difference.

You're part right and that casino manager is mostly wrong.

They probably ARE considered slots for internal reporting purposes.

The reason you didn't get a W2 is because no single bet paid off at least 600:1. Only then do you get the tax forms.

Yes, the interruptions would be annoying and the delays and paperwork even more so. One advantage of a machine though is that it could shut you out for a rest period. A live dealer couldn't tell you to go take a break but a machine dealer can do just that.
