I just ordered this design for my Discover card:

The design is titled "Lucky Seven." Hilarious that the dice are showing seven, when that's the last number the majority of players ever want to see, excepting for the come-out roll (which is a minority of rolls). To be fair, I guess the dice are somewhat in the air still.

Of course, for the dark side players, nothing better than big red once you've dodged the come-out.

I think it's one of the most common casino misconceptions from non-players...that Lucky Sevens are only good in Craps.

Yeah, until reading up on the rules of Craps, I thought 7 was always a good roll. I would have been impressed if Discover had an 11 shown instead. :)

I'd be impressed if they showed casino dice instead of board game dice.

C'mon man, why you gotta harsh my buzz? I just ordered that damn design and didn't even think about that!

Haha, just kidding.

Well, at least all the pips are in the right place!

So many dice are made what I would refer to as "wrong."

The following die is made as a piece of art (probably using bakelite), but the artist got the three side mirrored.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pip_(counting)

It's mostly a curse to look at a die and be able to quickly tell what's wrong with it. Most dice that are not made by dice manufacturers are wrong in one way or another.

It's not hard to find these, as most of them ARE wrong if you know what is right and check the details.

I thought about choosing that design years ago, until a friend in the banking business says info like that finds a way into your "profile" along with what ATMs you use, what restaurants you eat at, what magazines you subscribe to, etc.

I'm pretty much at peace with being sold as a potential cash machine to advertisers. I'm not very susceptible to ads anyway (although not immune). I was remarking on Facebook the other day how Google Voice is amazing, with the set of features you get for free. One of my friends scoffed, saying you're not getting it for free, they are data-mining your calls and voicemails to serve you better ads! Ah right, of course, "free." No money was exchanged for the services, yes, but I'm familiar with being a product. I know that I'm the product on Facebook too, who gives a shit. Just ignore the ads and only buy what you need and what you really want. But I've gotten off topic.

Or did you mean some other impact of the fact that you like dice getting into your "profile?"

"Profile" in terms of you as a credit risk. The card screams out "I gamble." Couple that with use at casinos and... well... you can see how it all adds up.

Or at least "I like to play monopoly."

It depends how you perceive two monopoly dice, I suppose.

Many people buy Vegas Souvenirs and think "hey I like to gamble."

But to me, it says, "Hey I like to buy cheap crap made in China!"

Ahigh, have you got a clue about what Im talking about here? I know you are naive and that you don't know what some common expressions mean. But you should really consider how the rest of the world might be looking at you.

For example, what type of spending patterns you have... and you have an Internet TV show all about craps using your real name... and you spend a lot of time at casinos and write about your extensive gambling online using your real name....

Your "files" must be flagged in "red" and shooting up fireworks. LOL

God bless you.

Ah...gotcha. Eh, I actually just got a new card for better rewards, so I won't be using this much. Won't be a big deal to me if they won't raise my credit limit or something like that.

They probably as an individual company won't care. But there is some company out there that is compiling all this data on you and has created some sort of algorithm that could come back and bite you either when you apply for a loan, or for a job, or for security clearance, or for a business license, or heaven knows what.

What a lot of kids are now finding out is that all those posts they made on Facebook with photos of drinking and partying comes back to haunt them when they apply for jobs, and credit.

There is a little check box on some computer form somewhere that says "this guy applied for a credit card with a logo of dice," which will affect your file differently had there been a check box that said "this guy applied for a credit card with a grandma and grandpa retirement theme."

I disagree with you that this little detail will leave the confines of the Discover corporation. With all due respect, you sound a little bit like Dale Gribble

That an interesting post. We've talked on the phone Alan. Your perspective on life is something I can relate to as I lived in Santa Monica for over a year.

Fortunately for me, my life is not so cynical now as it was when I lived there.

So, no, god bless, YOU.

I'm doing great and the types of thoughts that occupy your brain are absolutely different from mine.

Enjoy the way you're wired, but don't assume my brain being less defensive or more "naive" as you put it makes me disadvantaged.

I'm pretty sure my life is great, thank you very much for your concern though.

Well, I'm actually a New Yorker, and I don't consider myself to be a Californian at all. I just happen to live here and work here since 1987. Hmmm.... that's 26 years.

If I am a cynic it's because of my New York state of mind. :-)
