Bottom line, people don’t care. They could make the payouts 80% and nobody would care so long as they got their free cookware set every Tuesday. Just my opinion, I hope I’m wrong.

I'm afraid you're right.

This trend will only continue for 2 reasons. First, people don’t care and they enjoy getting screwed. If people cared about 6:5, why does anybody ever play slots where the house edge is 5x that of 6:5? Why do they play side bets with huge house edges? They don’t care. The only people that care are advantage players and basic strategy players who just enjoy gambling and want to lose the least amount possible. The casino doesn’t want these players anyways.

The second reason is that casinos know no one cares and they convince the governments to allow it. The government/gaming commission is supposed to exist to regulate the casino and work for the consumers protection and interests. But they have turned into just another taxing agency for the politicians. Take my state of Maryland. When the regulations were created, we had some of the best rules in the country. But then the casinos convinced the regulators to let them hit soft 17. They told them it was to allow for them to lower table minimums. Secretly they told them if they let them do that it would mean more tax revenue. Now the casinos convinced them to allow 6:5, which was just another progression. Likewise the regulated slot payouts aren’t too bad. I believe each machine has to be set at a minimum of 87% and as a whole all slots have to pay out 90% cumulatively. Now the casinos are trying to get that lowered. They said it’s so they can provide more benefits to their customers. They sound like politicians wanting to raise taxes so they can provide more services for the citizens. Ok fine but what about the taxes we already pay? Where’s that money going?

Don't you just love yhat racetracks in Maryland, who had a monopoly on gambling for 100+ years ,last year got over $50,000,000 of the taxes on casinos???

I concur with the Big Thumbs Up to Treasure Island...3/2 on all multi-deck BJ games & Stadium BJ with a CSM can be found for $3 min on the weekends with 3:2 on BJ (listed as $1 min on non-weekend/holidays). Where can you play $3 min 3:2 BJ with a live dealer/cards? Support TI for keeping low limit 3:2 BJ alive on the Strip!!

The pendulum will continue to swing back and forth
3:2 6:5 will co exist there will always be stores
using 3:2 as a marketing tool.

It's mandated by law in Pennsylvania and followed in some competiting areas. Where it has failed, I'd have to think greed is to blame, or necessity after chasing the greed.

Yep. I was just in Vegas a couple weeks ago. Cromwell is selling their 3:2 games hard. I saw it advertised on a bunch of taxis.

Last I was there it was ENHC and no one seemed to care.

Venetian/Palazzo has a better low-roller game but no live cards.

Cromwell is weird
I stayed there back in the day when it was Bill's gambling Hall catering to poker low rollers with the 1.00 50c no limit holdem poker
Seems they now want to go high class yet offer 99.54 25c JOB
I miss sitting at the bar listening to Fat Elvis
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

It's my understanding that each Caesars property has a high degree of autonomy regarding game rules, although some managers oversee multiple properties.

First 6-5 I recall was at MGM., not Harrahs.

Elliot Jacobson seems to say it started at The Flamingo in 2002. If accurate, this was well before The Flamingo became part of the Harrah chain. Harrah's eventually bought up Caesars and chose to use their name for the broader company but Flamingo wasn't part of Harrah's at the time. It wasn't part of MGM either, to be fair.

They also have that single zero roulette on the main floor.

In a few years they might be the only casino left with "real" games! Haha...

I remember seeing 6:5 at the Rio on my first Vegas trip, around 2002. Gotta figure out exactly when it was.

But I remember it was it a small pit outside of a nightclub called Bikini Beach or something. The dealers were, duh, hot chicks in bikinis. And it was $25 minimum!

After the “success” of 6:5, has anyone thought that the casinos might also decide that the 1.4 % edge on pass line craps bets isn’t high enough? They could pay yo-levens at 1:2 instead of even money on <$25 tables, increasing the edge to 4.2%, for example.

It seems like the casinos are getting less tolerant of low edge games, even when heavily subsidized by masses of poor basic strategy players and people placing the sucker bets. It’s sort of like their attitude toward card counters...they’re not happy that a tiny percentage of people aren’t paying a high vig and they take extreme measures to prevent it, even though it’s probably immaterial and not cost-effective.
It’s all about making that GTA
