Does anyone have any recommendation for recording equipment when you're at the table? Anyone know which are the best spyglasses in terms of looks and recording quality? Im looking to start recording my play. I have my reasons. Disguise is one of them. Reminiscing and re-watching the tape of how good I am is another ;]
Any private business open to the PUBLIC (ie. droned out casinos) cannot have a criminal trespass enforced against an individual without GOOD CAUSE (Disruptive or Disorderly conduct). You will never go to prison for being thrown out of a casino for legal advantage play and then returning because it's simply unconstitutional 'as applied' to the individual. 'As applied' constitutional issues must FIRST be raised in DISTRICT COURT (trial court) to have it thrown out. You CANNOT raise it on APPEAL This is the best kept secret in the world of casinos not just in Vegas but everywhere in the country. Thank me later.

Just move to a place with a mirror on the ceiling.
It appears you have given up on trying to make a living off playing cards and are determined to look for an easy scam to get paid off on. Why not pay someone to urinate on the floor and slip on it. Stick to the usual cons instead of inventing new ones.

In case you are not aware, in Nevada you will go to jail if caught wearing the spy glasses. I am not saying that you will be convicted, but expect at least one night in jail.

Yes, I have a few different kinds somewhere.

The best ones for a fair price, as far as most unnoticeable, most stable, and quality, is a pen video recorder looks like a cross pen with a pin hole can't tell It's anything other than a nice pen. It fits in your top shirt poket and works well, they come in quite a few different colors and qualities up to1920x 1080p HD(perhap more) 64MB. Some say up to 3 hours record time, but thats B'S it's more like 60 min max(that's the problem, I would get 3 and take bathroom breaks and switch out if you were playing long sessions.

They cost from $40 to $100 online and you can probably get them at the indoor swapmeet on Oakey and Decatur for a good piece. The guy is reasonable when making a deal or returning(I don't know if he has the highest specs that they offer online)

DON'T GO TO SPY SHOP. The mark up is like 10x for the SAME EXACT thing that they just put in a special case with some spy logo on it.

They have some nice looking dress watches you can get that you can't possibly tell that they are recording watches(Gold or silver) no reason you can't wear it as a daily watch.

I don't know how well the spy watch would work for BJ since your hands are moving and the positions you may have to have your wrists. It just seems like it would be wonky, I also think they have a smaller viewing area and less recording time.

I think the spy watch is best for something in an emergency situation like getting backroom or pulled over but I can't say 100% sure that's the case it might work ok for BJ.

I have one still in the Box if you want to try it out(just let me know, It can't hurt to try). I would let you use my spy pen but I accidentally stepped on it and it's broken. Been meaning to get a new one but haven't really had a good reason.

p.s. Don't even attempt the glasses they look really dumb and obvious.

Actually, the BEST audio recording equipment would probably be an old Revox reel to reel tape recorder.

Ask the pit boss if you can use their plug in to power it up; oh, don't use head phones to monitor the recordings, that might tip them off to your grand plan.

Can you cite the statute? If it's clearly illegal, then i wont do it since these casinos will try to frame me and use anything on my body as an excuse to backroom me. Heck, they probably already know what my handle is on here and are waiting for anything on my body to appear so they can backroom me.

Im aware using a device to assist you at the tables are illegal ever since the 'David' blackjack computer came into existence, but I thought recording equipment was a grey area with no real law on the books regarding recording at the table. I know you cant use phones at the table, but thats because it falls under a device that can possibly assist you, which is clearly illegal. How is recording glasses considered a device that can assist you? Is the statute vague enough that ALL devices are banned? I guess so :[

Also if there is a law on the books, why the hell cant people record anything? Are they worried that their stacked deck with extra 4s and 5s are going to appear during the shuffle and people will have proof? LOL

I think the use of you and you're makes it a personal insult. People who believe that are a special kind of stupid=not an insult. You believe that you're stupid=insult. The whole semantics of insults is corny on this site. We'll have to see if it is accepted. I'm sure Zen is not one to go firing of PM's to the mods. I know that I have been suspended for less.

As to pressing charges on this, I don't think ZK was aware of any law against photography/videography in casinos. To be honest, neither am I. I think rules against it were more of house rules than a law. My site is full of pictures and videos taken in casinos without permission, with strictly educational purposes.

Ive watched two or three different channels of YouTube featuring craps games at real casinos. Two seem to be "hats" or "glasses" because of the unsteady images or panning left and right quickly to view the table. One although stands out by being rock steady on the rail, once it even looked like it was shot from the felt level. I can only think of a pack of cigarettes with a camera inside laying in the chip tray. Any thoughts on this? I think the channel is Boston Dice; usually titled: "Live Craps Game #3"... I've actually used it in the past to show people what a real game looks like during play.

If I wanted to record a craps game, I think the best might be something shaped like a chip that you positioned in the rail, if it had enough of a fish-eye to see down into the tub.

A pack of cigarettes or other things sitting on a table, they make you put them away. But a chip guard (that had a hidden camera ) you might get away with that.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

It's not framing you if they assume the device is being used for cheating. That is why I said you may not get convicted but if caught with spy glasses at the table I think they will arrest you.

Is recording in it of itself illegal? Does it matter what I'm playing (or if I'm even playing)? What if I use the recording later at home to figure something out -- ie: map a slot machine, time roulette (machine or table) speeds, verify there's isn't some malfeasance in blackjack (ie: extra small cards or fewer high cards)?

I'd assume the answer is -- it's legal, just want to verify.

I've never heard of any recording devices being any good. I'd reach out to private investigators or companies like that to see what they have. There must be something good out there, but I don't think they're available to the public. MTV used to have a lot of shows claiming to secretly be recording, but I'm not really sure they were. In other words, we have a false sense of what secret recording can do, the TV shows might just be staged we watched.

I think a button camera would be your best bet.

That said, while it’s not illegal to record in a casino, if you are caught with a hidden camera setup with wires running all down your cloths, the PB/security and the police officer they call will 100% think you are cheating.

I’m not sure what would happen after that. I don’t think that any charges would stick, but it would be a miserable ordeal for sure.
