Hopefully because people figured out 6:5 games are a joke and an insult to the blackjack player. Even with VERY LIBERAL rules (DAS, DA2, Split to 4 hands) the house edge on a single deck 6:5 game is still OVER 1.55%. Compare that with a horrible shoe game (8D H17) and it's still only .66%.

No one should ever play 6:5.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

I believe the op was referring to single deck 6:5 being replaced with shoe 6:5. Is that correct? Lol

I was at Wynn recently and saw 6:5, and kept walking. I honestly couldn't tell you if it was shoe or single deck. No reason to pay any attention when there is a pit of 3:2 blackjack 25 feet away!

that's how I interpreted the question..... while I have no immediate insight or knowledge of the situation, I'm sure the answer to the OP's question is "$$$$$".

And by recent, I mean a few months ago (this is 'recent' to me). Hopefully 6:5 is gone, but I think I hope too much

Wishful thinking. 6:5 games in Las Vegas aren't going anywhere. And not many people really care. .50%, .66%, 1.55%, it doesn't really matter to 95% of the players in Las Vegas.

ZCore called it. They are not going anywhere, only expanding because players don't care. If you are not sure and are bored, walk up to a 6/5 table with an open seat, buy in for a $100 and then before the hand is drawn say never mind, I didn't know it was 6/5 instead of 3/2. Other players will look at you without a clue.

Well, reportedly there was something circulated by a Wynn/Encore manager that Affleck was spreading 1-100 on double deck games - but he was also spreading 1-200 on shoe games, so I don't see why this would lead to getting rid of the double-deck games.

They got rid of the 6:5 single deck games, not double deck.

Not sure why they did, so I'm wondering if anyone knows.

So are you lamenting the change or rejoicing it? Hopefully the latter.

If they are replacing single 6:5 with shoe 6:5 that makes sense to me. If they are replacing with 3:2 shoe, that doesn't make sense to me. That goes against the trend, but I am happy if that is really the case. I wish them success.

I was there 2 weeks ago and noticed 6/5 games in Encore, and thought they were shoes.

And we have the news over the weekend that Wynn has switched to only allowing double odds on all of its craps games in the main casino areas, vice the 3-4-5x standard of the Strip.

Can anyone confirm if the games are indeed 6/5 shoe games?

Hey, I've got a single deck game where, just for fun, I took out all the aces, kings, queens, jacks, and 10's... and you can't double or split. Blackjack pays 1-1 and dealer wins on ties ;). COME PLAY MY SINGLE DECK GAME FOR ANY AMOUNT!
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Apparently Aria and Bellagio have switched their low limit BJ games to 6:5.

Sad news. They were the only casinos on the strip with no 6:5 games at all....

They figured out there are enough idiots available to play 8D 6:5 so why have SD 6:5?

I don't think the pit is there any more, but my favorite "BJ for idiots" game was the Pussycat Dolls pit at CZR. 8D, 6:5, D10, NDAS. That's what you call the entertainment fee!

Dude.....

Can't you make a trip over to binion's, silverton, Cortez, or Hooter's? What is it about single deck that you like? Obviously, it's not the the odds......do you like holding the cards? There are plenty of double deck games where you can hold the cards left In Vegas. If you can afford a red chip 6:5 single deck game you can afford a green chip 3:2 double deck game, but then again, affordability shouldn't matter to you anyway since you don't care about the odds...

I did much of the blackjack survey here in December and January. I'm starting to feel like it has become almost completely obsolete. There have been so many terrible changes this year. I need to get all the new info recorded to get it up to date. It is starting to look like it takes $25 to get a 3-2 game in virtually any Strip casino with a few exceptions on the lower end.

I like single deck, and I want to play at a big strip casino, not some dump downtown.

I'm just a ploppy, I play a few hundred bucks, lose it, and that's it. I happened to like the wynn atmosphere, and they serve good drinks at the table.

Yep, basically.

Some of the casinos that have switched to 6:5 still have one or two low limit 3:2 tables if you know where to look (NYNY, for example).

I'll be there next week to check things out. I'm dreading my trip to the Bellagio. Used to be my favorite place for low limit BJ.

Another example is Linq where there are a few behind O'Sheas. Cromwell has four in front of high limit. Harrah's are behind craps. Flamingo has a few in the dead center but everything along the edges is 6-5. Of course, this could have changed recently but Caesars has been consistent lately. The MGM properties are the ones going downhill.

It's still a great deal compared to the 14% hold slot machines that play ten times faster than the BJ game.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Harrahs was doing well, they had about 6 tables of 3:2 shoe games earlier this year. Then on my last trip I noticed they only had one or two left and had changed the others to 6:5 single deck games.

CET used to be the worst. Now they are actually a little better than MGM properties for low limit games.

TI still had only 3:2 on their DD and shoe games. Wonder if that has changed....

I'm sure that's what people were saying when they started increasing the number of decks on blackjack, hitting on 17, etc.

We keep saying, "it ain't so bad". But it actually is bad, very bad.

They are going to keep making the games crappier and crappier and most of the players don't care (as was just exemplified a few posts ago).

I guess I killed the game by posting specific AP information about Wynn's 6:5 single deck game on BJ21 on June 3rd, 2015.

Sad, not even 6 weeks for people to use that lead and burn the game.

At least that's just one of many other opportunities around.

I went there to see the post, so what if the dealer's hole card is dealt first? It's not like the dealer's exposing it.

There's other single deck games I've played where the hole card is dealt first too.. Mandalay Bay did that until the game was removed and replaced with 6/5 CSMs.
