First, I don't feel I am doing any Robin Hood action. I don't have to make myself feel better because I am doing nothing more than WINNING in a casino. Perhaps you should question why you feel everyone must lose in the long run?

If I was doing a Robin Hood action I would give money to the poor. I proudly proclaim the money is for me.

Now lets talk about the legality part.

You see when I was backroomed, NO POLICE WERE CALLED! The casino caught me with tens of thousands of dollars I took from them (so much I don't even want to disclose what the amount was but trust me, they know). They verbally accused me of cheating! HAH! What they THINK and what you THINK doesn't matter. It's what the LAW THINKS.

With me held in their backroom accusing me of stealing their money, they never called the police and just handed me my papers and escorted me out. So, guess what, THEY KNOW I AM NOT DOING ANYTHING ILLEGAL EITHER.

Now, Here's the rub for you PaiGowDan:

By imprisoning me and going through my pockets without permission and a slew of other actions THEY BROKE THE LAW!!!!!

Now entrapment?? Laughable. NO ONE FORCED them to surround me. They chose to do it. BTW - they surrounded me and I willingly gave them my ID. I told them I would leave the establishment and not return. They had no excuse like "we don't know who this is so we needed to hold him". They could have mailed me the papers after writing down my name and address off the ID.

After that was done on the casino floor, THEY chose to refuse me the right to leave and brought me into their backroom and searched through my belongings.

They broke the law, violated my rights and this they need to be brought to task for. And that I do feel is a justifiable action and one I do for the miscarriage of justice more than the money (I certainly make more as an AP than what they will agree to give me if they settle, lol.)

Very fine, - I respect this attitude, it IS refreshing. I'll admit some AP's do use the "Robin Hood versus Evil operator" justification; I say: just be honest about it, and that you're going for the cash.

This is my point, card counting is legal, and so are back offs, if done correctly.

They've got to know and care, if they're doing their jobs correctly.

Shame on them, all have to follow the law. I am not being sarcastic here, seriously, the casino has to follow its rules and the laws, too. Employees sometimes do things that run afoul of what the legal department expects in the organization.

What can I tell you, get a lawyer and go for it, but evaluate it for its worth. I know people who have spent years and fortunes and emotional storms (of varying psychic agony) on civil cases that were actually very small and petty in comparison to the costs and to the larger picture in life. I think of the muslim day of outrage discrimination case over asking for can of Diet Coke on a domestic flight..... Technically, a miscarriage of justice, also. To a lot of lawyers, it is...."If it's billable by me, - clearly there's a case here, watch me find it!....."
A legal issue will get casino management to follow all the P's and Q's and procedures. You're not going to be viewed in a Rosa Parks-level landmark rights case over here, it'll be more Bob Nersessian than Al Sharpton (which is what you'd want anyway.)

Ok, PaiGowDan,

We're on the same page for the moment, lol.

I don't fault the casino for trying to get rid of me. It's how they go about it (at least in my case.)

I personally make too much money doing what I do so I'm not quitting and "retired" when they catch you is a bit strong. Looking for a new job is more akin.

I'm sure the dealers at Revel and Trump Plaza would not like to hear they were "retired" because the casino doesn't let them work there anymore. They went and found (hopefully) employment somewhere else.

And a regular 9-5 is not guaranteed paychecks. You can get laid off and lose your pension and health benefits.

It's AP's who actually find alternate work almost immediately in most cases. 9-5'ers usually think they are now entitled to a few months of unemployment and take the vacation.

A good casino should always be very gracious, and less "back-roomy," when conducting business. It's just business, on everyone's count. Pardon that expression, by the way.....

You have enough time to find many things. The smart SOB has multiple sources of income; I believe in diversification.

Nothing is guaranteed. Many old time GREAT dealers and cocktails waitresses are getting tossed to the street on a casino closing and cannot compete (Riviera, Trump, Revel, the old Sahara, etc.), -- same thing here on this side, and it hurts. Make your $$$ while the making is good, no hard feelings; new technology and variants are closing the door, just be prepared, I say. Be aware that BJ variants are coming out - and are being shown - that look like BJ, smell like BJ, taste like BJ, and don't have 6:5, appealing to ploppies - but are next to impossible to count. Trust me on this. Our gigs change over time.......stuff similar to Stanley Ko's 2-to-1 Blackjack....

I'd be skeptical if someone told me surveillance doesn't sometimes back off players at BJ even if they're not doing anything but having what is called a "winning streak" in other games. Lots of winning without being sure if someone is doing something undetectable in a game that is beatable has to make them pretty nervous.

Surveillance does not back off players. Floor supervisors do. We just let them know if a person is counting or not. Observe and report is all we do.

Some years back I was playing blackjack at an Indian casino and a little old lady was standing behind me watching me play. This sometimes happens and I'm not really bothered by it. It was on the main floor and the buses were rolling in so I didn't give it much thought. I should have - that sweet old lady backed me off! I never saw it coming and I never saw her again. It was liked being scolded by my mother. :-)
