I'll just leave this here:

Haha.

Well it looks like Matt Damon is mistaken or exaggerating.

Why poke the bear? I thought the entire reason you self suspended/nuked was due to this thread. Things were almost forgotten. Why stir the pot? 30 VS 25 is significant. George could have been hitting 20's for all we know.

I am not poking the bear - I am merely showing someone else who had something similar to me happening (and this happened at one table to him)

I doubt MR Damon sat and counted every hand properly (did he count pushes). Also as I pointed out(Matt kind of suggests this ) GC may not know how to play a lick, he could ave been playing like a complete drunk donkey, IE splitting 10 10 vs A, hitting 16 vs dealers 6. 30 and in a row is not 25, some one else will need to do the math. Are we assuming Matt is more credible then you? Because, He thinks 25 is a record. Next time I see Matt, I will tell him you broke GC record.

His strategy, unless he was purposely busting, is meaningless

Hitting 16 VS the dealers 6 may not be purposely busting just stupid strategy. You cant ntell me that's meaningless. However the story is meaningless (other then entertainment) I have no doubt its exaggerated or something.

Well thanks for using that example , you just proved my point. Many textbooks have incorrect information. This example is not history but even worst "MATH". here is a quote: Texas State Board of Education found a total of 109,263 errors in the math textbooks being reviewed for use in the 2008 school year, it was seen as a pretty serious problem .Of course this could be wrong to. Russian history textbooks - After beating Germany in 1945, Russia decided to join the allies and declared war on Japan.
Japan surrendered after Russia declared war.
Yea the Russian textbook is correct, Japan did surrender after Russia declared war but that's not why they surrendered.

TX board of education wants textbooks treating intelligent design as science. TX is so big, Publishers just offer the rest of the country what crummy textbooks TX approves.

My high school math class found a bunch of textbook mistakes. Math teacher suggested we make a project of it throughout the school year then send the results to the publisher.
Us kids just rolled our eyes.

There's a 0.000001% chance you lose 30 hands in a row? Are we talking about a specific set of 30 hands? Or someone has that chance of losing 30 straight hands, lifetime? You play enough, weird shit happens.

It's like half the questions on Wizard's question survey thing, "Someone rolled 5 Yo's in a row at the craps table, what're the odds of that?!" Well the odds are 100%.

Didn't someone claim 18 yo's in a row here? I see references regarding it however, its so out of line I assumed some Varmenti/ gr8player type said it.

This thread reminded me of the time my wife and I met George Clooney's dad. Nick Clooney and I were sharing a blackjack table at the Sands in Atlantic City in the very early 80s. We had no idea who he was until the pit boss started pestering him about his sister Rosemary. There was no mention of George who was nobody back then. We still didn't make the connection when George became famous.

Then one day while channel surfing, there was Nick hawking golden oldies on PBS and he mentioned his son George. Who knew that joining Mrs. Garrett and company on The Facts of Life would catapult George to stardom? :-)

Ace, thanks for the thread--I wished I read it before my trip to Aria a few weeks after yours. I am confirming my suspicion on Aria.

I played at the 2D table at the Aria for about 1 hour, lost about $1000 playing only $25/hand to feel out the table with hi/lo. The table felt "odd" the entire time that made me hesitate on raising my bet or trying to lose more money. To me, ace's and ten's seems less available than what I am use to.

Don't get me wrong, I get beat at Bellagio's 2D game playing $50 and $100, but hi/lo "feels" normal on the number of ten's and non-tens.

Anyway, I tried to pay close attention to the Aria dealer pitching, but I could not tell any odd dealings. Rather, he seems conversational, nice, and sympathetic on taking money. I even threw out a few tokes to see if I can see changes in the dealer, but I lost 8/10 of them.

It could be that both of us had really, really bad luck.

After reading this thread and math-arguments, I am adding another reason besides just super-bad luck for me to avoid Aria.

Call it bad luck, call it something else, but if anyone else seems to have an "unlucky" experience on the 2D table at Aria, I would be curious if the pit boss are doing something fishy. After all, it is statistically more likely for the pit boss to throw out a few A's and 10's than some of calculated odds that Ace went through. Given that pit bosses don't get any tokes and their performance is based on the amount that their tables take in, finding ways to alter the 2D S17 tables would not surprise me. After all, each missing A's or 10's brings down the player advantage.

Just my thoughts. Next time, I would be curious to videotape them changing cards on my smart phone and review it back in the room. Halfway, my suspicions made me start to try to count specific face card and identical pairs and A's, but I ran out of money.

Aria is a strange place - it seems I can have a trip where I win a small amount then, when there is a losing trip, it is nonstop losing - like, no end in sight, can't win with 20 or 21 type streak

It is odd that you associate your winning and losing streaks with the club where they take place. I doubt the cards know they are in the Aria.

No, of course not, but I would never say it seems like I can only win small or lose big at one club as opposed to another. That's just trying to shoehorn patterns and narratives where they don't belong. It's all one big game. It doesn't matter where and when you play, as long as the games are dealt fairly.

Playing it correctly means you've already won.
