anything intersting in the s17 dept.? this might be reckless, but i'm a gambler at heart & i've been blessed w/ some good fortune...i'm thinking to bring $500 to the $50 table & flat bet until i double or suck out, then decide where to go from there. i got burned badly by a very quick & shady compulsive gambler type making garbage moves on a $25 table @ mohegan last goaround...$50 tables are nmse...

I'm quite familiar with both so ask away. You can play $50 minimums in Foxwoods' Newport Room most of the time. Six deck, S17, just over 80% penetration, sweaty.

You didn't get burned badly, you just need something to blame your losses on.

^^^ i chuckled.

I'm actually going to start at a $25 table @ mohegan, but I won't flat bet. I'll just aggressively back out in the case of tourists/degenerates/kamikaze-types & bad shoes. If I can make anything decent I'll bring it to the newport room @ foxwoods. I'd be happy just getting in enough action to get some decent comps...of course, a mortgage payment or two would be nice.

How does the person next to you affect your overall game at all? The cards they take or do not take are irrelevant unless you are severely results oriented.

in that particular instance it was very relevant...i would have had a 20 if this shifty idiot hadn't jumped in. the guy barely had enough chips for one bet & i was betting at least $75/hand. it was just a case that made me wish that particular table was nmse. you get people like that on the good days too...they're still irritating. i would also argue that at least in the short term, the cards that others take or don't take can matter a great deal. we've all seen plenty of cases where idiot plays by one player can cost others at the table...

When you find yourself thinking that, just remember that any two cards were equally likely to be in the opposite order.

(Actually, the last time I played S17 blackjack there, there was an NMSE sign at a $10 table, but they didn't honor it...)
The trick to poker is learning not to beat yourself up for your mistakes too much, and certainly not too little, but just the right amount.

Poor players don't bother me. You've got to get rid of that selective memory, kitties. I recently had a double down with a 12 unit bet out and won because and only because the player before me hit her 13 against the dealer's 5. You just never know. I would not have berated her had I lost.

I personally don't care about bad players (stupid plays have won me just as much as I've lost, I'd guess... I was too tired the other day, hit a hard 19 and snagged a miracle 21) but their attitude goes a long way towards if I stay or leave a table.

If I'm considering a move that some people may find objectionable (like splitting 77 v 8) but don't have any particularly strong feelings about either way, I ask if anybody's going to throw a fit if I do. Every time, the answer's been that it's my money and good luck. (Strangely enough, I win the 77v8s and lose the 22v6es. Go figure.)

Unfortunately I can't say other players' bad moves have done me too many favors (though yes, it certainly has happened). Took a nice beating @ Mohegan...it was cool though - straight to the point, no shitty players (in fact, there was a sports tv personality at my table who was a good player & wasn't a total douche). Only got to about +$150ish before hitting -$500 in relatively short order (played $50 tables & eventually swung for the fences in the pit for $100 hands because it was totally packed everywhere else). Surprisingly made it through like 5 shoes of $50/$100 hands before going broke on such a short stack. Luckily, i threw the girl a few bucks for slots & she recovered like $300 & threw me a few bucks. What a nice lady.

Yeah was at MS last night. Dismal. Place was packed. Found a seat at the handicap table. Basically just flat betting $25 for the fun of it, playing perfect BS. Started with $500, was up $100 , then finished -$220 after 2 hours of play oh well. Dealer drew a 20 or 21 six times in a row, everything else was 18, 19 and only a very few busts - unreal. Needless to say everyone at the table eventually went bust. One guy plops down at first base and burns $500 in about 15 minutes and this guy has the nerve to take phone calls (twice) when it was his turn to hit holding up the whole table. Unreal. Maybe it's time to go back to FW but I do like the comps and the bars/restaurants at MS. Good Luck!

yeah, the dealers in the pit were particularly lucky.

also, at a $50 table the players were finally starting to get paid...they switch dealers & burn that card & then BAM!, dealer pulls every kind of 21 & does not really ever break. that was a bummer....i left after the dude next to me was out $600 & giving off snarky rich guy shitvibes.

LOL snarky rich guy sh@tvibes. I hate to say it but it kind of makes me wonder if the CT gaming commission ever audits these tables and ensures the decks aren't tinkered with - i.e. deck loaded with more low cards than high cards. I think I won 10-20% of the hands played if that during the last two visits playing perfect BS. I understand variance but I play Casino Verite daily and rarely have this low win percentage.

for that reason i very much prefer going at the beginning of the day when theyre opening up tables...you can see the cards fanned out & judge it for yourself. still...i've seen some pretty crazy variance, especially @ mohegan.
