In another thread Darkoz offered this idea. I'm just curious what you think?

There is no reason to bet against a trend absent any information other than a trend is in place. There isn't necessarily any good reason to bet on a trend continuing, either. But given that red has proven recently to hit with much greater frequency, it is at least possible (though not likely) that the wheel is somehow biased toward red pockets. Maybe there are slight imperfections in the angles or spacing of the pockets that make the ball hit red numbers more often. Maybe the red paint is stickier. Or maybe the black paint somehow generates more static electricity that repels the ball. Maybe there is no wheel bias whatsoever, in which case there is still no reason to bet on black.

I agree with Alan on this response. I would either not bet or bet that the lengthy unlikely sequence will continue. Red gets my money.

Betting that a cluster will end is a recipe for going on Tilt.

... or Red.
... or your cat's stepmother-in-law's birthday, expressed as a sidereal Julian date, divided by 10.

You'll feel like a champ if it hits.
Hopefully you'll laugh it off if it misses.
May the cards fall in your favor.

Years ago at Caesars there was a roulette game showing red in all positions except for one black near the bottom of the tote board.

Our craps table was across the aisle from the roulette game.

Our craps game stopped dead for each subsequent spin.

It was fascinating.

Reds continued for a few more spins.

I hardly offered an idea!

I stated what most Roulette gamblers would do.

Not what they should do or should not do.

Most believe in equilibrium and if black hasn't hit yet then it's due.

Others like above believe if the table is streaking then it's due to continue.

Neither choice makes a difference except that following a streak you only lose once when the streak ends.

But don't word my post like it was some idea to pursue.

I bet the ball has not developed a memory when I see a streak. I win about half of those times.

The best Artificial intelligence might be able detect tiny flaws in roulette wheel spins.

It shouldn’t be able to figure out how to guess lotto numbers better than random chance. But that’s an assumption until it’s tried. Right?

Black, since I'm a contrarian that believes in mathematical random balance over longer terms.

It could be the Reds are balancing a historical Black run.

But, I would scale in, similar to how I would if I bought stocks at new lows to lower average cost (when super high momentum was close to max).

So a betting sequence on Blacks in units could be something like 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32.

But not necessarily.

I'd have to study the payout structure to make it conservative but allowing to recoup any previous losing bets plus a little to make it worth my time.

Generally, there's no risk if a bet is not made, so I could skip a couple of spins in between and keep the betting sequence in tact.

The betting sequence doesn't have to be consecutive spins.

I would be prepared for about 10 losses in a row but likely wouldn't enter until I saw a major imbalance.

Another intuition I have is after the first win, I'd skip a spin or two, etc. expecting the momentum to reverse a little.

Not completely though.

I'd also take the money and run.

I don’t know how I missed this thread.

Personally, I wouldn’t bet either, because I’m not a roulette bettor. Yeah, I know, I invented a roulette side bet and I don’t bet roulette. Let it go. (More info at: http://www.davemillergaming.com/pfr/index.html

But if I were to bet one way or the other, I would bet red. And I’ve made this comment before. Go with the streak. If it hits, great. Maybe you parlay, or partial parlay. If it doesn’t hit, OK, fires out, move on.

But if you bet black, and red appears again, you know you’re just gonna end up Martingaling away your whole bankroll.

Bet on green because our universe has a sick twisted kind of humor about itself.

Otherwise yes I'd go with the odds that the streak will be broken and bet black. I'm happy to lose to such a weird mathematical flop.

If I want to bet straight-up 00 for a 35 to 1 payout, I figure I've got to last at least 200 bets before a win. Seems I'm wasting a lot of time before a single win.

I totally get why Darkoz suggested betting black after seeing 25 reds in Roulette.

1st dozen, 3rd dozen, 1st Column, 2nd Column, 0/00 split. With that kinda wager only 4 numbers make me lose.

incorrect

any time the number lands in any of the 12 numbers in the 3rd column there will be a net loss if not a total loss

for example - bet $5 on each you indicated and $1 on the 2 zeroes

if it lands on no. 1 in the 3rd column you will lose $10 with your column bets and and lose $5 on your 3rd dozen bet plus lose $2.00 on the 2 zeroes

that's a loss of $17

the win on the first dozen is only $10

there is a net loss of $7

there will also be a net loss of $7 if not a total loss any time the ball lands on any of the 12 numbers in the 2nd dozen

what a terrible, terrible post

I know damn well its an expected loss wager most of the time. I counted winning ANY money as a win. If I was betting based on the math I wouldn't be playing Roulette unless I had the focus to match some of our fellow forum members.

In that case, bet red, black, and 0/00 split - every number "wins," doesn't it (and you make a profit if 0 or 00 come up)?

"Trends" or lucky streaks are just a way to give confidence to someone who is unsure which way to bet and then guesses right acting as if they knew the whole time based on the "pattern."

I see it in Baccarat all day, they spout nonsense about Donuts, Beads and Slashes predicting this and that, but ultimately it's a lucky guess, fueled by the previous results being unrelated. I hear it every day "Tie means jump, 2nd Banker always come up and Player Natural mean choppy shoe!"

Of course when they're wrong it's because "dealer change, new player bad luck" or no response at all.
