The essence to all casino games lies in mathematics, but does anyone have a supersticion(s)? I do. Would anyone else like to chime in?

I only have two (that I know of), both craps related, and they're not so much "my" superstition as it is that I think others want it this way:

I always wait until the next come-out before joining a game,
and when I throw a die off the table, I call out, "Same Dice!" pretty much as quickly as possible.

If I'm holding a 4 to a royal on a VP machine and someone makes a comment about it before I hit the draw button, it feels like a horrible jinx..

I never bet after the zero shows up.
It has just as much chance as the
other pockets, but it's such a
negative number in roulette.
You can fell air go out of everybody
when it shows up, except for the
few who bet it every time.

A few. Even though I know they're all BS, it just adds another layer of "fun" to the game.

That's about it. I, however, never call for the same dice and never will. Karma either comes my way or it doesn't but i'm not going to tell the casino what dice to use. I do respond negatively to dice hitting someone's hands even though I know the dice don't much care about it.
And on the rare occasions when I go against Basic Strategy at Blackjack and people at the table congratulate me, my next bet will be for the table minimum.
if the dealer ever makes any comment about the number of blackjacks that i'm getting, I change tables, even if I have just recently sat at that table.

I regularly confess to my Craps superstitions as a matter of laughing at myself. But what I don't do is act on any of them in a way that would be unsound, such as deciding it's time to hedge, or bet on the 7, or12, etc.

the main ones:

*buy in much bigger than I need to. I don't like to see my bankroll get down to one or two hundred, as I can't shake the idea the dice like to 'go after what's left' in some sort of feeding frenzy!

*if I start a session as a rightside player, or vice versa, I always stick to it the entire session. I have this notion that the dice hate side switchers.

*I try to pick which shooters will be good or bad. If I think the player is the latter I bet less with that shooter. I usually don't bet more than I planned unless the shooter has proved himself LOL.

*If any of the dealers or pit people do or say anything to a shooter to mess with them, like fussing about hitting the back wall with a guy who is not trying to avoid hitting it, I take it as a bad sign. I react in various ways but will at least quit betting for a while.

Now, note that none of these things cause increased HE or involve hedging or going on tilt, so I consider them harmless. In fact any reason that slows down a player's betting is theoretically a good thing.

It's a good thing you added "Even though I know they're all BS." If you hadn't, I feel something bad might have happened.

I don't know that something technically qualifies as a, "Superstition," if one does not believe it actually works. With that said, here are the things that I do in the rare event I play these games that I fully know and understand do not impact the odds in any way, shape or form whatsoever, but that I do anyway:

1.) In the rare event that I would play Video Keno, I have a starting bet and run something like a Martingale variant. If I win 4x my bet, or more, then I wait for the next loss and then double my bet amount after a loss returning to the base bet if the next play afterward is also a loss. I fully realize that the only thing this accomplishes is increasing my expected loss on the increased bet. With that said, I've once or twice managed to run my bet up to 16x the original bet amount and then scored a win of 4x or more, at that point, I could only bet the machine max.

In the event that I am up to 4x the original bet amount, or more, then on any loss I drop to the bet level before that until losses eventually and inevitably put me back to the base bet amount.

2.) In the rare event I play Video Keno, I NEVER change my numbers. I know the odds are unchanged when one changes numbers, but it would still be annoying to see my, "Usual," numbers hit 7/10, 8/10, 9/10 or a bonus game on some bonus game keno variant when I am not on my usual numbers.

3.) I probably haven't played Craps in two years, but I set the dice with one vertical six and one horizontal six on the come out roll. When a point is established, I set the dice in the Flying V (two threes) or what I call the Small Flying V (two twos) for all subsequent rolls until seven out. Again, I do not believe this accomplishes anything at all, but why not?

I think that's about it for me when it comes to anything that could even be loosely called a, "Superstition."

When you're playing craps and there's a lot of energy at the table. Then the dice hit someone's hand and someone gets mad and then the wind has gone out of the sails. Or one die goes off the table, kinda like the palyer just knew something bad was going to happen and let them bounce out of the playpen. Then when it's all quiet, perhaps the next roll or the one after that, "Line away."

Most of the answers are not superstition.
They are rituals.

Superstition means at least that the person believes something irrational. Making the sign of the cross, not walking under a ladder, these are rituals someone does even without believing it has consequences.

I have one superstition, not related to gambling. I fear that something bad will happen if somebody suggests it may happen. I then touch wood. I know it’s absurd, but the fear lies in another layer of my brain.

It's not whether any of these mumbo jumbos amount to anything in reality, but whether or not you believe in them. If you do, even a little bit, then not following through will at a minimum affect your thought patterns adversely and that may transmute to a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The positive side of this was the basis behind the classic Think and Grow Rich - that a burning desire if followed through with action on a daily basis will transmute into reality.

My "superstition" is that when I'm playing blackjack I'll either drop my bet to the minimum (if the casino is busy) or change tables if I get an Asain dealer.
