Monkey, or a word that sounds like it means Ten so people chant it after a first card Ace. I've seen it a lot in BJ. There was even a very skilled player who went by the handle of Automatic Monkey.
Mets used to have a broadcaster named Ralph Kiner. As a ballplayer, he was great. As an announcer he was okay, but as he got older he said some stupid things.
Mets had a Japanese pitcher on the team and their newest player was from Taiwan.
On the post game show , he introduced them and asked if they would say a few words in Asiatic. When they looked at each other, Ralph, said- I mean in Oriental. Say a few words in oriental to the folks back home.
The producers went to commercial.
According to some others, "monkey" was a Chinese mispronunciation of "monarchy", which represents the face cards.
My friend who played for me recently got a nice match play on Baccarat (actually 2). A group of Chinese people were writing stuff down(I assume they were "chinamen"). They were betting over 2k per hand. When we got down on the table, they all lowered their bets down to the table min. They did wish us good luck and bet with us both times. We ended up winning both hand's and they seemed genuinely happy for us. I didn't want to hit and run that fast, so we decided to stay and play a few hands at a much lower bet. As soon as they realized we were staying longer, they started cashing out. I tried to get them to stay and explained we were leaving after that hand, but they had already made up their minds to leave. They tried to say it had nothing to do with us, but they were just being polite.
I'm a white guy and I've been discriminated against by Chinese people several times, but one thing I've noticed is that they're usually pretty polite about it. Maybe it has to do with the concept of saving face?
I'm a white guy as well.
So that's what being discriminated against feels like?
I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about (-;
P.S. with that name, I assumed you were Asian.
