Damned surge indeed! I think we can accept the profanity 'd' word.

I reckon it's a bit early for anyone to hope for things to improve in just 2 weeks.

2 weeks won't see many policies or minds changed. Why would anything improve?

Good luck, but don't hold your breath for the joyful reopening in 'late August'

You are joking but a new study released today by the Mayo Clinic says the Pfizer vaccine is less than 40% effective against stopping you from getting the new variant. At least eight people in my wife's family were all vaccinated with Pfizer and they all got covid in the last 2 weeks.

I think if everyone got vaccinated wore masks and kept some social distancing as much as possible it might get us to a point where it is not something we need to worry about. for the life of me, I still can't figure out how I never got it. It's not like I was going around licking door nobs, but I certainly wasn't being all that cautious. I few multiple times, I went to a Superbowl party, I went to group dinners, I hung out with friends who had been traveling, I didn't run around sanitizing frequently, I was around people who probably had it at the time. I was fairly sloppy with mask-wearing

If there's less than 100 people in a large casino that isn't taking forehead temperatures anymore, what are the chances of getting sick?

The pfizer was a 2 shot deal. I wouldn't be totally surprised if not enough people got both shots. Saying you're vaccinated when you only had one shot is better than nothing, but that is not how it supposed to be used.

You may be familiar with the advice to finish antibiotics you're prescribed, and not just stop when you feel better. Because in that case, you can help make antibiotic resistant disease.

Although it's not likely to work like that with vaccines, it would be nice if people got both shots.

OD was addressing the post about hopefully casinos aren't affected in two weeks.

The profanity"d" word I assumed was because OD called Covid a "damned" surge.

I know some political comments refer to the "D" word for Democrats but I don't think OD meant "D" word as in Democrat.

Being from across the pond it's not even his politics.

You have me wondering now.
I'd accepted the rebuke for the statement "2 weeks won't see many policies or minds changed. Why would anything improve?"
Which was as uncontroversial as I could have made it.
There was nothing in my post about the d word meaning Democrat. That was never in my mind at all. I was literally just saying that I saw no problem in the word 'Damned' which I referred to as the 'd' word.

Has wizard misinterpreted? I'll ask him.

How often were you actually in casinos playing on the floor. Slots people are somewhat separated. I don't play slots. At table games, before I started playing at my own private reserved table, players have been right next to each other for some time. Even at a private table I am close to the dealer, and the dealer is close to many people all week long. I've been on casino floors at table games average of a few times a week for the past five months.

And then also last Fall 2020, was on the casino floor at table games, public tables, almost daily for a couple months.

This is pretty much precisely why I don't comment on these sorts of threads. The line between what will or won't be considered political is too blurry for my liking.

That said, I did write an article that somewhat analyzed the whole Covid thing and its relationship to casinos last year:

https://wizardofvegas.com/articles/corona-crashes-casinos/

I also made some prognostications, which I think turned out to be pretty good overall!

As an investor, MDawggy Dawg, I think you in particular will appreciate the above-linked article---if I may be so bold to say so.

I'm thinking Wizard thought D word was for Democrats because he referenced conspiracy theories and finger pointing in his rebuke.
