Interesting.... I feel like the Lucky Dragon was too far away from everything else to be competitive as a casino, but as just a hotel and convention center, it's still close enough to everything to appeal to people who don't want to be in the thick of everything.

Most likely acquired as a real estate investment until Resorts World has completed their property. I wonder if the casino license will be maintained. I imagine it will.

Is it just me or does $36 million seem really cheap? It's a fraction of what it cost to build just a couple years ago... Were they that desperate to sell?

Weren't they bankrupt? If so, I think they're compelled to take the highest bid, no matter how bad it is - the creditors require it to maximize the payments out to them.

Does the Strip need more conference and convention space? I can imagine the casino building being re-purposed as a big nightclub. It's about the right size. Parking in their structure was pretty tight though.

Bankruptcy trustee forced bidders to qualify over a year ago, if I recall correctly.

If anyone is interested, this somewhat lengthy video tells the whole sad story.

Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.

I'm a little bummed only because I wanted to add a chip to my collection from there and they were closed last time I was nearby. Shame.

I actually kinda like that idea. Idk how big nightclubs usually are, but to me it seems like Lucky Dragon would be good for that. There are those weird "room" things in there already. Nice big center. Railings on second floor. Parking should be more than adequate, I'd think.

Only downside is it's not really near anything. You can't really just "walk on over there". You either have to drive yourself (which isn't that great of an idea) or take a taxi/uber (F*** lyft), and given how the location doesn't handle traffic too well......idk. Then again, it is walking distance from the SLS.....but when's the last time you've seen someone in that casino?

I agree, that is the reason Panda Express is successful and Lucky Dragon is bankrupt.

whats wrong with Lyft?
I only use lyft because uber doesn't like my google VoIP phone #.

the only problem I find with Lyft is that they start their tip screen at 20%.
Uber = no tipping until recently but people still have the no tipping mentality? Plus I read Uber's tip screen starts at $0?

Unlucky Dragon sale: Rental king Ahern picks up a bargain. http://bit.ly/2UZDMUl

* If ever a place needed an owner handy with his hands with a sharp eye for figures, it’s the lowly Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino just off the Strip.

And this week, after more than a month of rumors linking him to interest in the bankrupt property, equipment rental king Don Ahern announced publicly his purchase of the Asian-themed operation for a bargain price: $36 million. http://bit.ly/2UZDMUl

Trader Joe's has a mean Orange Chicken, although I prefer their Teriyaki instead.

Very important to know where to find Orange Chicken.
