In 2 weeks, I'm going to be spending a Monday night and Tuesday in Tunica. My wife and I both enjoy playing Pai Gow Poker. Are there any tables to be found, and if so, what minimums can I expect to find?

The last time I was in Tunica, the only PGP Tables i found were at Horseshoe with a $10 minimum. I think only two tables were open.

I would spend a few minutes calling some of the casinos, because it's a pain running around there looking for a particular game.

Gold Strike used to deal it. They had about 4 tables. I don't know if they still do, though. Horseshoe still has it as of a few months ago. I would also call Roadhouse and Sam's Town and ask them. And if they don't, I would ask them who does deal it in town.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Hmmm... I usually play in southern Mississippi casinos, but I would be a bit surprised if Tunica had no Pai Gow Poker. Assuming Tunica has Pai Gow Poker, one should expect reasonably low limits because over the last several years Tunica has suffered from increased gaming competition from other nearby states.

If I wanted that info, I would be tempted to phone the Tunica Convention & Visitors Bureau and ask for assistance. See the "Contact Us" option for the phone number. The "Meet Team Tunica" link actually has the photo and position title for each staff member. They might have an easy way to get that info from their own casino contacts, while you would get the run-around if you tried to do it yourself.

Of course, they are more interested in helping "groups" visiting the area, and that is perhaps to be expected. So, you might try to be a bit "fuzzy" about your "group size," while still trying to leave the impression that it could be a group of "reasonable" size (even if it is only you and your spouse).

Maybe, "Hello. I'm planning a gaming trip for a group, and someone suggested Tunica. But we like to play Pai Gow Poker, and we might have to visit another destination if Tunica casinos don't offer it. I don't want to go to all the trouble of phone-tag with all the casinos to check, but I thought you might know. Or, you might have casino contacts that could more easily get that information. Can you help me?"

If they ask for your group size, you might say, "Someone else has that info, and it's still in flux depending on where we actually decide to go." Umm hmmm.

My two cents. Please share a trip report. We don't often get reports from Tunica. Good luck.

From the web site -

"Our United States directory of gaming properties includes over 1500 casinos, horse tracks, dog tracks, resorts, and cruise ships. Below is a list of states which have gaming with the number of gaming properties in parenthesis. Click on a state name for a directory of casinos, horse tracks, etc."

Nice site, and I've seen it before, but I don't trust the accuracy as to particular games. For example, Horseshoe Tunica, where I've played UTH, HCF, and seen PGP within the last 6-8months, does not list any of those. It's possible they've removed them all, but seems very unlikely, as popular and long-lasting as those games seem to be.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I stayed at the Horseshoe last week. I saw they had face up Pai Gow at the Goldstrike and i believe a Pai Gow game at the Roadhouse but cant remember which one. I did not notice one at the Horseshoe but also wasnt looking. I did not see the limits for those games but for most games it was 5 or 10 dollars with bj being a bit more on a saturday night.

I was in Tunica briefly in July. No Pai Gow Poker in the southern Tunica casinos: that is, none at Resorts, Sam's Town, Hollywood, or Fitz.

Just FYI for those clicking on the thread

Horseshoe has two PG tables and are almost always a $10 minimum along with the fortune bonus bet and a progressive

Gold Strike now has one table of Face Up Paigow and was at a $10 minimum over the weekend recently. It has the standard Fortune Bonus
Bet as well as the "Ace High" Sidebet and a progressive bet
