Vegas Visit 8/6-8/8

I'm not a writer, so this will be brief and general.

A little background:
This wasn't my first trip. I grew up in California, Spent my college years in Arizona.
Weekend and day trips were often on my schedule in college.

Living in Wisconsin for the past ten years has made Vegas more of a vacation and yearly destination. Whereas before it was an all nighter/weekend bender.

I took my girlfriend with me, her first trip to Vegas ever.

We walked everywhere. EVERYWHERE!
My family from California met us there, with nephews and cousins that were underage.
So a central location and kid friendly venue was decided on at Circus Circus.

Day one the GF and I walked the entire Strip. Looked in on every casino, saw all the sights we could. She loves architecture.
Family got in town around dinner.
We hit up the Grill for Burgers. Decent.
Kids and my GF all hit the arcade. My dad and I followed them around til they tired out. At the first chance of leaving them all back in the hotel room, my Dad and I hit the Craps.
He has never played, so I gave him the basics and he played pass line with odds and a couple number. he seemed to always play the field bet also.
After a couple hours we were each up about double our buy in. it was about midnight so we decided to call it. A day of travel had us both feeling beat.
Walking with casino money is a good evening.

Day 2
The Family all wanted to go mall shopping and sight seeing. Even though I had been there the day before, I showed them around. Hit the big malls, Venetian and such.
Back to the Hotel after lunch and walking malls for hours.
Pizza for dinner, kids choice.
Then we went to see the Bellagio fountains. great experience for the GF and Fmaily. Other than the Born again guy on his personal PA, everyone was entertaining and dressed up like they do.
Parents, GF and Cousin were done walking for the day, so Circus Circus was there spot for the night.
The nephews and I hit up the Stratosphere.
It was dark by then.
$20 a piece to goto the top. worth it to see their faces. Teenagers looking over the edge at 800+ feet. Trying to act tough and still being timid around the windows. Watching the jumpers and Amusement rides. They didn't want to ride.
On the way walking back to our hotel my sister and Brother in law, the nephews parents conveniently happed to be driving in, we jumped in and got a ride back.
Left the kids in the rooms and headed down to catch my dad back at the craps table without me.
Not sure whether he was up or down but I jumped in anyway.
We were hitting numbers, people were cheering, we had a crowd gather. My sister and B-in-Law showed up just in time to lose their money.
The minute they bought in the crash happened. Couldn't win on the come out, Crapped out on ever second roll.
I walked at 2am with 3x my buy in. Just lucky I played the wave and held back on the slide.
My dad said he came out ahead.

Day 3
Our last day, even though the family was staying another day. Easier to stay when you drive and live closer than 2000 miles and have to catch a plane.
Either way, we hit up Fremont street. Showed the family and girlfriend the down town sights.
Not as great during the day but we had fun none the less. Drinks were frozen and the sun was hot.
Zipline wasn't running. not sure if that only runs at night or at certain hours.
Street performers were in full effect. Everyone had some good laughs.

From there we headed to NY-NY for Hersheys chocolate and Lunch. I played roulette while they bought candy.
Only lasted a few bets before they were done. I broke even playing the streets.

With about 4 hours to spare before my flight, the GF went shopping and playing with my cousin and I hit the tables.
Decided to spread it around on 3 card, let it ride and BJ.
Playing with casino money from the last 2 nights of craps, I figured I couldn't lose.

I was wrong...
Well, not completely wrong.

3 card took me down to the felt twice before I hot a hand to get me back to even.
My dad felted and went for a walk.

I moved to Let it Ride.
Dad bought back in.
We both got slowly felted with bad hands.

My dad was out and following my mom around the slots.
So I moved to BJ.
A table with a lady playing alone was interesting so I sat down.
I only had about 1 hour left so I played aggressive.
Changing bets on count and feeling.
It paid off.
I was up after the hour and with one hand to go I put the rest of my odd money down.
Won the hand and tipped it to the dealer.

Left up for the entire trip and made my flight.

all around a great trip.

I miss being able to go any time I want to drive but I love the trips I do get.

Thanks for the report. It sounds like you guys had a pretty good time. It has been couple of years since I've been to the Circus. But, I remember it getting pretty run down in there. I can't imagine they've spent much money fixing that place up. It will probably go the way of the Riveria in a couple of years. BTW, is the Riveria still standing or have they knocked it down already?

Riviera is still standing for now. Going down by years end is the word on the street.

Circus is still the same. Nothing ever changes there.

Never my first choice of hotel of casino.
