Introduction

The Linq Las Vegas is Caesars Entertainment’s latest remodeled resort.  It is on the former site of Imperial Palace, later known as the Quad.  Caesars Entertainment declined to renew the licensing agreement for Imperial Palace from the previous owner.  The Quad turned out to be a disastrous rebranding.  The number four is considered unlucky in Asian culture.

The Linq anchors the new pedestrian mall located just south of the hotel, also called Linq.  This is home to the High Roller observation wheel, restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues.

The Linq is also home to O’Sheas.  This was once a standalone casino.  It is now a bar with some table games with an entrance within both the Linq mall and casino.

Gambling at Linq

The gambling at Linq is among the worst in Las Vegas.  There is no playable video poker in the entire casino.  The best games only pay 98%, even then, a $5 minimum bet is required.

Most of the blackjack games pay 6-5.  These games tend to have a $10 minimum, although some are only $5.  There are 11 3-2 blackjack games in the rear of the casino that start at $10.  Players can double down on any two cards and after splitting.  Surrender is also permitted.  Eight decks are used in all blackjack games at Linq.

There are six double zero roulette tables at Linq.  The minimum bet is $10.  Five craps tables are spread with a $5 minimum bet.  The odds are 3-4-5 times.  The Field pays double on 12.

The Linq spreads a wide variety of carnival games.  The minimum bet in each is $5.  The games include Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Crazy4Poker, Three Card Poker, Mississippi Stud, Let it Ride, and High Card Flush.  There are two Pai Gow Poker tables with $10-$3,000 limits.

O’Sheas is a bar connected to Linq that offers six 6-5 blackjack tables, often with a $5 minimum bet.  There is also a $5 3-4-5 times craps game, a $5 double zero roulette table, Three Card Poker, and Mississippi Stud.

There are several versions of video blackjack at Linq.  All pay 6-5 on blackjack and have $3 minimums.  Double zero roulette is also spread on several machines.

There is a small sportsbook that shares odds with all Caesars sportsbooks.  The poker room that was once open near the sportsbook was shuttered in January 2015.

The Linq uses Total Rewards for its players club.  Players earn one point for every $5 played at slots and $10 wagered at video poker.  Players earn $1 in comps for every 100 points.  While the comp return for Total rewards is terrible, the players club is liberal with free hotel offers.

Hotel at Linq

The hotel at Linq was remodeled in 2014.  Before that, it was one of the biggest embarrassments on the Las Vegas Strip.  Even with the new rooms, Linq is among the most affordable rooms on the Strip.  This is because most are very small in size.

Rates start at $40 per night during the week for two doubles.  Rates skyrocket over $120 on most weekends.  Some even top $200.  That is a lot for a 300 square-foot room.  A single king is $20 more per night.

The King Suite is 600 square feet.  It is $280 during the week and $460 on weekends.  There are a limited number of these rooms.  Guests are likely to find a better deal on large rooms at other more desirable hotels on the Strip.

Restaurants at Linq

All dining options at the Linq are casual.  The most famous is Chef Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen and Bar.  There is also a Hash Hash A Go Go, a popular breakfast joint among locals.  Tilted Kilt is also on the property.

Quick options include Haute Doggery, Squeeze, Off the Strip, Nook Express, and Flour and Barley.  These are located in the food court of the adjoining mall.  A Yardhouse and Chayo Mexican Kitchen are also in the mall, among other upscale dining options.

Entertainment

The Linq mall is the main attraction for the property.  This is where the High Roller observation wheel may be found.  The wheel peaks at 550 feet and offers views of the Las Vegas Valley.  Brooklyn Bowl is more than just a bowling alley.  It is located in the Linq mall and offers nightlife and musical events.

Parking

The Linq is one of the most difficult resorts to enter by car in Las Vegas.  The Linq parking situation is poor.  The parking garage has an entrance from Koval Land behind the hotel.  There is also a Las Vegas Monorail stop on the property.

My Conclusion

The Linq is great for cheap drinks and gambling.  The mall next door offers a variety of quick, inexpensive food options.  Those looking for drink specials will like the property, especially O’Sheas.  Serious gamblers will not find the games to be acceptable and will likely want to stay somewhere else.
