Just a quick question for the forum.

Have any of you been "Cut-off" by a casino pit/bar? I thought this was a total myth until it actually happened to me and a few friends about 4 years ago. It was at the Plaza downtown and we started to imbibe around 6am, and we noticed that the pit bosses requested they not serve us booze around 3pm. We of course, sobered up and they resumed serving us a few hours later.

I was just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone.........btw, we weren't sitting at the bar pounding shots, or getting into fights or anything...........we had our wits about us, but we did consume a lot of beverages whilst playing table games.

I've seen it before. You don't have to be at the bar to get loud and obnoxious to the point where it's obvious you've had too many.

When it comes to liquor licensing, and more importantly, liability insurance, anyone in the establishment, including other patrons, can recommend that a patron be cut off. Of course, it's up to a manager to actually make the decision. A pit boss probably does have that authority.
Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood?

I've seen it happen twice before in Vegas. I wrote the details in another post a while back.
It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet.

I've not only seen people be cut off (it happens a LOT in the midwest), I've also seen the security escort the patrons out of the casino completely because of drinking too much.

I was at one casino where a guy had been permanently cut off from alcohol by the casino and he would bring a pill bottle filled with whiskey and add it to his drinks.

Yep, happened to a friend of mine on a recent trip to a local casino. Thing was he was more tired than drunk...we were on the 2nd day of gambling bender, and he appearantly appeared as though he was going to fall asleep at the table. Food and bev manager came by and told him no more booze. We left and found another gambling/drinking establishment and continued on.

By the way, they didn't ask us to stop gambling...........we were free to gamble as much as we wanted. They just had the waitresses skip our tables when getting drink orders. I am kinda glad they did, because it allowed us to sober up a bit and enjoy another 12+ hours of drinking afterwards

This is amazing to me. "You're too inebriated for us to serve you more alcohol. BUT, you are not inebriated enough that we must cut you off from gambling as well." Isn't there some sort of law that casinos aren't supposed to allow obviously inebriated customers to continue gambling? Isn't that some of the defense in the Watanabe case?
