I recently spent a few days at a casino (Tuscany, smaller casino without a connection to a huge corporation) and I would like to see if I can get a good deal over a weekend. I played quite a bit there and tipped a lot - but I'm not sure exactly how they rated me. My question is, as stated in the title, how do I get a good room?

1. Who do I call: The number they give for reservations or the player's club?

2. What kind of an attitude should I have? Should I be more of a "I was hoping I could get a deal on..." attitude or "I'm going to be staying there during this time, what can you give me?".

3. If they give me a deal, would I usually be able to ask for some time to think about it?

The Tuscany is strictly on the point system. Perhaps your previous comp points could get you the room for free. However, you may wish to inquire about the rate both ways, whether paying in cash or comp points. It may be higher if paying with points, and thus not a good use of them. Knowing the Tuscany, I tend to doubt they have a "casino rate," because they are so cheap to begin with.

With other casinos that have a guessing game about comps, if you don't already know a host, you can ask for someone in "player services" to see if you can get the "casino rate." It doesn't take much play to get the casino rate. It is no big deal if you say 'no.' You are welcome to think about it, but I doubt they would hold the room for you at a promotional rate.

Thinking long term, you'll make out better waiting for the casino to invite you back with a free room. Lots of the casinos I reviewed have been sending me nice offers to come back for free.
It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet.

I am looking at an offer I received from Tuscany for three free nights. It says, contact Amy Tse or any of our Casino Marketing Staff at 1-866-511-7886 to confirm your suite. Obviously if you haven't received the offer, you can't use it, but maybe you can wheedle something out of them, our at least establish a relationship with a host-type person. Once they get to know you and your level of play, they will be more generous.

FWIW, I play high-limit video poker, not tables.

Oh yes, and I agree with the Wizard. Definitely check how many comp dollars you have.

You can also call Amy Tse and tell her your buddy got an offer for 3 nights free, and ask her how you can qualify for the same deal.

If she asks for your buddy's name (which she probably won't) say you don't know his last name, he's just a guy you work with, etc.

I think I'll do that. I don't bet at your rate, but I felt the love and put in 10 good hours at least. I appreciate everyone's input as always.
