Where will development begin again?

It would make sense to at least finish those over building something from scratch. If and when those are finished, there are still plenty more empty plots in that area to develop. I suppose you are referring to the block bounded by Tropicana, Harmon, Valley View, and the I-15. Anything is possible, but I would not go buying land in that area. The freeway and train tracks cuts off traffic and makes it a dead end area. That part of down is already light industrial, and won't change its character easily. What I don't understand is why there are a bunch of shabby motels and a truck parking lot across the street from the Luxor and Mandalay Bay. I understand they can't build anything tall there because of the airport, but short hotels can be nice too. Perhaps something in design like the Tuscany. That is how all Strip properties used to be. If I had any money I'd look into buying that land, and developing it should Vegas come back to life. Nice map, by the way. I think I may use that as an inspiration for my Vegas map 3.0. It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet. |

You can practically walk from the airport to the strip (too bad the terminal access is on the far side of the airport...). I'd kinda expect something in that empty lot just north of the runway, between the airport and UNLV. By the way, I've seen on some other map that a monorail connection to the airport, running along Tropicana (not running further north around the empty lot as I might have expected to stay out of airspace) has already been approved. That makes that empty lot more appealing for a low lying casino. Regarding the map itself: Yeah, I kinda like how each property is defined by it's acreage rather than a mere point on the road. Of course, that could be done by a footprint of the building rather than the land space. Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown.

The copyright is clearly shown, and this is a non-commercial venue. Wine loved I deeply, dice dearly -Edgar, betrayed son of Gloucester in King Lear |

I think that the noise of the jets from the back of these properties and the take offs and landings on 1L/19R would make it pretty unbearable to build anything worthwhile there... it would be interesting to see what the property taxes are like there. And the other problem is that you've got a giant parking lot just south of the Tropicana that prohibits pedestrian traffic on the east site of the street. -----

Oh, sure, you might not be able to put up a luxury hotel, but a casino? Sure. And if you really think airport noise is a problem, please explain how the Bali Hai Golf Club exists - across the street from the point where ALL the runways meet! I think that MGM MIRAGE has actually purchased that land for future development. Wine loved I deeply, dice dearly -Edgar, betrayed son of Gloucester in King Lear |
