Just wondering if there is an easy way to work out if you can place bets on a particular game where you will be guaranteed a win?
I saw a game where you roll two dice and you have the option to bet on the result being over 7, 7, or under 7. Odds are 6-5 for under or over and 9-1 for the 7. There is also an option to bet on any pair which pays 4-1 or specific pair of 6's which pays 30-1.

Any help is much appreciated.

YES. Own the casino.

The odds are in the casinos favor. If you lose, they take all your money. If you win, they take some of your money. The casino has "the vig" or what a Godfather movie would refer to as "the casino is wetting its beak". This "wetting the beak" or "Vigorish" is known as the House Edge or the House Advantage. Very few people smart enough to own a casino are going to be dumb enough to have someone standing there offering bets where the owner doesn't wet his beak.

Oh sure, the odds bet at Craps is "Even Steven". And sometimes Bingo or some of the BingoBonuses work out to be even or ever so slightly player advantage but those are occasional loss leaders to bring in little old ladies clutching bottles of blue hair dye and clutching Social Security checks.

So unless you are a little old lady with her hair dyed blue bringing in her pension check, get used to the idea: If you want to play, you have to let the Godfather wet his beak!!!

:-) That is sort of what I'm getting at.

I'm thinking of using this game for a fundraising event and want to know if there is a chance that someone can place a certain bet which will mean that they can't lose no matter what is rolled.

Nope. I think those are the payouts, not the odds. Odds would refer to the event occurring or not.
Not sure.

I think you should be looking at ChuckA Luck at the Wizards primary site: WizardofOdds. Or something like that. Small footprint set up. Easy to lug in and out of the playing area for the event. Room for people to mill around, simple, fast ... and high house edge.

Or just call a Casino Nights or Monte Carlo Nights type company to come in and do the whole event for you.

AZDuffman....??? Where are you???

Don't you think that if such a bet existed, then the casinos would be in greater danger than your little fundraising event?

For what it's worth, typically, fundraising events use even worse rules and/or lower payouts than a casino uses. People are OK with that since they re really there to support the charity, etc.

Thanks for all your response, they are much appreciated.

Was just wondering if there was a way to work out if there was a certain wager that could be placed that would take away the house advantage. We have some ruthless players around here that will take any advantage, even though it's for charity :-)

I don't need a guaranteed win... Pay me 9-1 on the seven and i'll play all day. That's a big bet in the players favor.

That's what I thought. Would need to change to 4-1 as odds of getting a 7 are 1/6 if I've worked it out right.

No, there are no casino games (that aren't otherwise broken) that will allow you to spread your bets across multiple propositions and guarantee a win of some amount. If there were, the casino would have been broke a long time ago by players doing exactly that.

In roulette, you can "guarantee" that one of your numbers will be hit just by betting on all the numbers. You can do similar things in dice, baccarat, etc. But even though you've guaranteed a "hit", you have also guaranteed a loss. Overall, you will have less money after the play than before it.

And are you sure about the 9-1 payout on the 7 with two dice? If they're standard dice, that's a huge player advantage.

I don't know if this is the answer you are looking for, but you can hedge DP bets with Place bets and have a guarantee win.

Make a $25 Don't Pass bet. If the Point is 6 or 8 make a $24 Place bet. If the shooter 7s out you will win your $25 DP and lose the $24 Place bet for a net win of $1. If the shooter makes the point, you lose your $25 DP but win $28 for your Place bet for a net win of $3.

There are other bets for the points 5 or 9 and 4 or 10.

Before anyone responds and says that this is stupid or you can't win a lot of money with this grind, I'm just responding to the question of is there a GUARANTEED way to win.

This hedge only works once a point is established, of course.
