For what it is worth, I have Window Vista. My record is 1 point. When the game is in "easy" mode, where my win rate is 47% or less, I usually win a match with under 20 points. In hard mode, if I win at all, I'm pushing 100 points. It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet. |

| JohnnyQ Member since: Nov 3, 2009 Threads: 49 Posts: 592 | Wiz et al: Here's something to try if you have company for the holidays, because you need at least 6 players. We call it double-deck hearts. The fun part here is that if 2 cards of the same rank/suit are played in one hand, they cancel out and can not take the trick. But the points still count for whoever takes the trick. Lots of fun & yuks. Especially when a 2 of diamonds takes 26 or more points, even though diamonds was led, because the other diamonds match and cancel out. Now you swear and kick and beg us

My brother and me used to play a lot back when Win95 came out. We quickly tried to shoot the moon every time, naturally, and managed some impressive scores. Now I think that olf WinHearts was not a very good opponent. Still, even back then when I got a score of zero, I knew I'd gotten lucky.
I should think Yahoo games has it, but I don't know. I'll PM you over the weekend. This space is closed for remodeling |

I play lots of bridge on that web site, and it is really great. There are a gazillion other games too, some multiplayer (chess, euchre, backgammon) some solo (boggle, solotaire, etc..). So if we want a WoV hearts tourney it can easily be done on pogo for no charge. We would just have to agree on a time. |

You had enough low hearts to duck heart tricks, and keeping K hearts keeps someone from running the suit. Then your risk would be receiving a pass of something like A clubs/K spades/A spades. I would have counted on receiving clubs, but less so the high spades as there were 12 unseen spades split among three people, and most people don't pass K or A if they're spade-rich. Back in high school we never heard of that wimpy "no dumping points on the first trick" rule. It's a shame Microsoft had to inflict that standard on everyone. |

In Baltimore my circle of hearts players played where you couldn't do that. What was more subject to debate was whether playing the Queen of Spades broke hearts. It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet. |

I guess we were pretty liberal. The Queen always broke hearts. Also, the Jack of diamonds was minus 10. This would have been Charlotte, NC. |

I've played anything goes on the first trick. I've played where person to the left of dealer leads, rather than 2c (that is when you have anything goes first trick, the Qs holder can't safely void clubs). I've played Jd=-11, and with that Jd rule I've played that you have to get it to shoot, and I've played that you didn't have to get it to shoot. I've played "hit 100 exactly go back to 0". I've played Qs breaks, and Qs doesn't break. I've played the double deck game JohnnyQ referred to, that's pretty wild. Yeah, you lead the 2d... and see Ad, Ad, Qs, Qs, Kh, 10d, 10d. And maybe you were that first 10d, and you were trying to shoot! NO KILL I |
