I'll have to check again, but I thought Beachbumbabs's bet wtih MaxPen and Wizardofnothing's bet with Boz both had 150 as a push.

EDIT: According to the posts starting here, 150 is a push for both of those bets. However, it does say, "Need 151 to win," so 150 1/2 wouldn't cut it.

You are correct. There were some contracts where 150 was a push. Interesting how that number turned out to be the cap.

I wonder what TomG's "max capacity" would have been? 5 more?

Thanks and congratulations to TomG. Very impressive!

10 minutes down. 150 locked in. Not sure if that's a win/loss/push for individual o/u 150 bets. Contest is over.

Thanks for the updates RDW! Looking forward to the video.

I might be able to do 150...in a week. Seriously, 50 at a time is my limit, and I probably need two days "rest" before doing it again.

Actually, I may have done 150 in a week once, during one of the McDonald's Monopoly promotions (I am one of those guys that tries to collect the 17 "non-rare" game pieces, which is not as easy as it sounds; I am convinced there are more Park Places than Baltic Avenues, presumably as there are 4500 Mediterranean Avenues and one Boardwalk). One look at the bathroom scale later, and cooler heads have prevailed since then.

Tom was a trooper. Unbelievable performance. Going in, his confidence had a lot of the under action scared, to the point of wanting odds for anything under 200. There is no doubt in my mind that he could handle the weight of the food. Whatever 200 nuggets weighs.😅

When starting off he was amazing. 2 or 3 nuggets in each hand box after box they were going down with ease. At 70 his complexion started to change. At 80 the sweat started to appear. At 90 there was encouragement for camp under. Although Tom still was performing like a champ. With 100 being accomplished with such ease from a volume perspective it was clear that Tom was a true champion.

However, nuggets being what they are, you could see the trepidation in Tom's demeanor with the thoughts of facing another 100. There was still the necessity to have the balance of the other 100 ready and in progress of preparation for what was turning out to be a remarkable feat.

Nugget 121 appeared to be where the reality of what a nugget truly is began setting in. The unders with a 150 push could truly see the ramifications of a dedicated food warrior attempting to deal with all the chemicals and physical symptoms of body rejection. Tom put the game face on and loosened the pants and belt and really went to work. He knew that he needed 150 to make some money. You could tell all thoughts of 200 were out the window. There was a point around 130 nuggets that it looked like all might be lost and the valiant effort thus far would have to be aborted.

Even with all that said, you could really sense Tom's determination for the 150. I do not believe, despite the prevailing symptoms of physical rejection, you could get anyone there to take a bet against him getting to the 150. The next 20 minutes were observed with great concern for the contestants well being. The map was laid out in Tom's mind of how to get to his new goal. He overcame obvious signs of rejection over the next 2 boxes with water and walks a few times. He was triumphant in his new goal and it was achieved with utmost professionalism and mind over matter determination.

Hopefully, we will hear from him soon. I cannot imagine what he is going to go thru tonight and tomorrow morning. This is the challenge to remember.

I'm embarrassed at this mistake, but this was McNugget Challenge #6, not #5. I'm going to update the thread title after posting this. This same error carried over into the video.

I don't recall the exact numbers, here but is a summary of the previous challenges:

#1: soopoo jr. In this first challenge running two miles and doing two New York Times crossword puzzles was also required. Soopoo jr (son of our own soopoo) made it to the mid 80's.

#2: Mission146: This one also ended in mid 80's for reasons debated to this day. As I understand it, a chunk went down the wrong pipe and Mission choked, literally, but never vomited. However, he did this over a trashcan so it looked like he was. However, he never ate more so nobody disputes he fell short of the 100 goal.

#3: This was was an embarrassment by djatc, who made it only somewhere in the 20's. Here's the video.

#4: Another embarrassment by rudeboyoi, who also quit in the 20's.

#5: PokerGrinder finally beats the 100 barrier!

No, 20s is an embarrasament. I have eaten 20 before as a meal without even trying. To take a challenge for 100 and only get through that many is pretty bad.

Still, it's a "Top-Six" performance. Hold your greasy chins up high buckaroos!

I fear TomG has set the bar so high, no one will make an attempt next year. It's like Bob Beamon's 1968 Olympic long jump record, which still stands, and is still the second longest in a sanctioned competition all time.

Estimate how far Bob Beamon could jump after eating 150 McNuggets - 1 1/2 meters

Thought of a strategy while watching that.

if there was any noticeable size difference in all the remaining McNuggets on the table, I'd be grabbing the smaller ones. Less fried paste even would help

seems to take forever. On the pages
where there are lots of ads to load and
FF stalls and balks, MS Edge works
straight away. I think it's a simpler platform

That was a spectacle to watch. Tom destroyed the nuggets, for the most part =P.

For the record, there was one point, just one (around 130 nuggets or so), where maybe a little bit came back up but he muscled it down and kept going. That takes some determination. Great job, Tom.

In the age of social and viral media, food-eating contests have become as popular as sporting events, their winners crowned heroes. But in the past week, two people have died while participating in an eating contest. On March 31, Caitlin Nelson, a 21-year-old student at Connecticut’s Sacred Heart University, choked while participating in a pancake-eating contest, according to the CTPost. Officers called to the scene had to physically remove food that had been lodged in her throat.

On April 2, at Voodoo Doughnuts in Denver, Co., a man choked to death while engaged in the company’s popular doughnut-eating contest. The “Tex-Ass” challenge is available at all Voodoo locations and requires that a person eat a half-pound, seven-inch diameter, $4.50 fried yeasted doughnut in 80 seconds. The local medical examiner’s office confirmed that Travis Malouff, who was 42, died of “asphyxia, due to obstruction of the airway,” Eater PDX noted. “Our hearts go out to the Malouff family during this very difficult time,” Voodoo’s owners wrote in a statement. “While this matter is under investigation, we believe it would be inappropriate to comment further.” (Voodoo has since suspended its doughnut challenge.)

Just saw this on facebook, I figured it fit in this thread.

Good thing the Plaza McD's didn't have a drive-thru. I can imagine this lady rolling up and ordering 10 McNuggets only to be told it's gong to be a 40 minute wait because a bunch of gamblers inside just ordered 15 boxes... hehe.

btw, what happened PG to get you to eat a McNugget? I hope you got paid.

While good to show concern, and we'll confirm he's okay, I think everyone is over reacting just a bit... They're just nuggets, and he got rid of "a bunch" of them at least right after.

Well, all I heard is he was last seen heading for the bathroom. Didn't hear about him coming out again.

So, my reasonable conclusion is he was left to die.

And 150 nuggets would kill me. I'm sure!
There's no secret. Just know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.

hehe.... I was amused by the cleaning lady at the end of the video "following" TomG with her rolling waste can. That's a professional doing her best to contain potential damage...

No I was told I lost out on at least $5 worthy of EV too. This is why I stick to poker instead of APing. They smelled good and I wanted to see if they tasted good. BREAKING NEWS: they didn't. One was so disgusting that I can now say I will never eat one again.
