Speaking of gang signs, I'm proud to say I finally learned two of them. If you make an E shape, it means "east side," and a W means "west side." Do I earn any cool points for knowing that?

Mr. Wizard, you are the antithesis of cool. You are probably one of the greatest math geeks I have ever known, and I've hung around alot of 'em in my university days. You're so uncool that you're hip. I'm also uncool but sadly, according to my daughter, not hip.

Seriously though, those kids in the picture are just trying to be cool and the "T" to them is an inside joke, meaning that you'll never know. Perhaps they started posing together with the "T symbol and that's what they do now. Who knows?

Does the local high school begin with the letter "T"?
Or the local Home for Wayward Girls begin with the letter "T"?

Thanks. I guess that is like saying that some movies, like Plan 9 from Outer Space are so bad, that they become good bad movies.

I have a friend in SLC I'm going to ask about the picture. He is about as hip as me, so don't get your hopes up.

And judging from the reaction of the older lady to the side... i think they have more to do with T's, as in teasing (also you) guys, lol.

Given that the picture was taken in Salt Lake City, my first inclination was to think of the T as standing for Temple or Tabernacle. Perhaps this is the Mormon Youth's way of "being hip."
