What does this hand gesture mean?

Somebody asked me what the T symbol means that these girls were making in this picture. It can be found in my WoO blog entry on Kings Peak, the highest point in Utah. As far as I know, it means to call a time out, but this middle-aged man has not been up to speed with popular culture since the mid-eighties.

You're such a soft-spoken Gentleman, but you're like a magnet for coming across interesting types.

Ordinarily, I'd say "time out", although I like jpprovance's "tranny pride" answer.

The big question is, WHY did they strike THAT pose? Could the 'T' mean "Tourist" ?
Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood?

I have no idea. As I said in my blog entry, they walked right past me and my two hiking buddies as we left a Chinese restaurant in the Greektown section of Salt Lake City. I remarked that I'd love to get a picture of them, but didn't have the guts to ask. So the lone female in our group volunteered. She had to run about 50 yards to catch up to them. All she said was they were very nice about accomodating her request. She didn't mention anything about the T.

I have a theory it may be for a sports team of some kind they were fans of.

I don't know what the gesture means, but I think your hiking group should have struck that pose in the next photo.

Are you sure they are girls? Symbol for Transvestite, perhaps?

Oh, my mistake. You said "Utah", not "Las Vegas".

Uh, Sorry Wiz, but I'm pretty confident that girls like that most certainly aren't sports fans.
