Just in this past year, four acquaintances have told me representatives from player clubs have told them the casino had had the wrong address on file. Four people talking about three different casinos. My feeling is they say this to make the customers feel like there was a reason they didn't receive something when there is another reason they wish not to discuss. Maybe just to prevent them from being mad at the casino by letting them think an honest mistake had occurred, when in fact the casino felt they were not worthy in the recent past, but are now or will be.

Casino management(2 of them) told us they would cash in our expired tickets, just bring them in(they knew the approximate amounts).
Well, that was a lie. One manager made up a few lies to cover his ass.

I haven't let a ticket worth anything expire in ten years, but ten years ago the managers at Mountaineer would sign off on them and they would be cashed. When I played there trackside a few years ago, swear the tickets expired after 1 day. I can understand how a casino would lie about cashing the tickets, because they can get away with it. You could record your conversation with them and it might not phase them. Policies seem to be lie and deny, rinse, repeat as needed. Sometimes I think people should just sue them in court for causing emotional distress, punitive damages, etc. I hate it when they want you to come in, just because they want to lure you in, telling you no on the phone gets them nowhere.

I think that expired ticket promises are perhaps the result of approaching the wrong person. Phone calls tend to get handed off and many of the people you talk to are on rotating shifts. Ofcourse its to their advantage to draw you into the casino, that is what all those coupons and special promotions are desgined to do. All those forms redeemed at some special desk.... requires you to walk through the casino and withstand temptation.

Casinos know that "free keychain" can bring them in lots of money, that is why they don't give them out at the entranceway but at the back of the casino.

The conversation was both on the phone and in person with both managers present.

Cant you send expired tickets to the state for payment? Isnt the money forwarded to the state with the casino keeping only a small percent for its book keeping?
I thought that's how it worked?
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

I'm not sure, but I think that there is a grace period so that the expired ticket can still be redeemed IF the casino is willing to go thru the paperwork and only after a year does it escheat to the state.

It used to be that inadvertantly overlooked tickets would be redeemed even if the paperwork took some time but casinos became persnickety due to MBAs getting involved.
