Last Saturday I took a trip to Mt. Airy. I live on Long Island so it is the closest casino at only 2 hours away.

Nice casino, cool restaurants. I happen to like Guy Fieri.

Smaller type of casino but still nice.

I was swarmed by security for taking a picture of guy fieris restaurant which I thought was extreme, they are very strict,

The security guard said just pretend to delete it.

All in all good time, I recommend it for NY metro casino heads as it is extremely close.

For others stick to CT or AC

I played the new blackjack game which I loved. If you go over 21 you can double down and draw another card to deduct from your total.

edit: some dealers were good and some literally sucked and were not good at all. rookies.

Nice review.

What else can you tell us about this BJ variant? What is I already doubled down... Say 12 vs 6 - Double, get 22, double again? I'd love to see the basic strategy for this one!

the dealer explained the basic strategy is different for this variation

he walked me through it

sometimes i listened sometimes i didnt

you play like normal blackjack but the strategy for this game says you ALWAYS hit until you reach 17 so you would hit on a 16 even if the dealer had 6. if you go over 21, say you had a 16 and drew an 8, now youd have 24, you have the chance to double down and draw another card, whatever the value of that card is it deducts from the 24 so say you had 24 and decided to take another chance and double down and draw and got a 5, now youd have 19

however 21 or 22 for the dealer is a win for the dealer a 22 for dealer is not a bust.

sometims you want to take the chance and sometimes its better to just take the loss and not double down and draw.

you can bend the strategy rules and stay at 16 if the dealer has 6 and play like regular blackjack but then you might as well sit at a regular blackjack table. this one says hit until 17 and if go over 21 either take the loss or double down and draw another card

yes, if you had a 12 and dealer had 6 the rules i believe would say double down. say you draw a 10 and now you have 22 you can take the loss OR double down and draw another card which could hurt you. at this point youd hope for an ace (1), 2, ,3, or a 4. if you are at 22 and draw again and get a 10 well then you are done unless dealer busts. if you did not take the loss and you drew again and lost now you lose double.

a few times i had 25 and 26 drew again and would get a 2 or 3 and lose

from mt airy website:

DOUBLE BACK JACK

Bust and still play! After player busts get back into the game by wagering amount bet so far. Receive a final card that gets subtracted from your total. Still over 21, both bets lose. Get to 21 or under, let the dealer finish the hand. Aces count only as one after busting. If player beats dealer, player wins the DOUBLEBACK bet and pushes on the original bet. If dealer wins, both players bets lose.

Interesting. Is 22 a dealer win or a dealer push? A win would sure be bad for the player. Was there a name for this game?

Ouch. Sounds like the casino war, war showdown.

yup, lots of fun though.

so you still win what you would have by taking the double down chance because original bet pushes but if you lose you lose both

Could this be a nice lawsuit for "Switch"?

Also blackjacks should pay 2 for 1 in this game.

The edge has to be quite high (for a BJ game) on this in order for it to be worthwhile for the house, no? Not only is it giving players a second chance to turn a loser into a winning hand (minus the horrible 1 for 2 payout if so) but the addition of this step over the long run will drop hands per hour down significantly, no?

Does anyone know the edge or know if there is a breakdown on either the wiz odds site or elsewhere.

This is my forecast for the future, every casino in the world will soon have there own BJ variant lol.
