As MRSHeart pointed out the heat usually isn't that bad. Besides the beauty of the boardwalk is it is lined with air-conditioned casinos and other venues.
Plenty of times I have stopped in to cool off, warm up or just get out of the weather.

It would be a much better view if the berms didn't block the view of the ocean.

Tanko, you are so right but the officials of the city keep pointing out that there was no damage to these areas from hurricane Sandy because of the dunes. I do miss not being able to sit on a bench and look at the ocean.

The water never reached the dunes in AC. In Ventnor , Margate and Longport it did on some streets. Guess what, It's all back to normal.

The dunes should be removed or lowered. AC would be so much more appealing. Look at the old photo's. The Ritz is still standing after 100 years.

Atlantic City casinos consist of two distinct districts, boardwalk and Marina. For a first timer it generally is recommended to stay on the boardwalk.
For non-gambling check out the following links.

Atlantic City literally has hundreds of restaurants, one of the best with the most history is The Knife and Fork.

Many of the less expensive drink and dining options are outside casinos.

Some casinos may offer free play for new players for signing up for a card. Check the casino websites.
Along the boardwalk Caesar's, Tropicana and Taj Mahal are the nicest IMHO. Borgota is the most successful casino in A.C. However, it is in the Marina district.
Map of A.C. Showboat, Revel . Trump Plaza and Hilton are closed.

Thank you for the huge list of sites to check out!

If you can handle he Vegas heat, Atlantic City isn't so bad especially with the ocean breeze. The difference will be the humidity so many times it seems hotter than it is, but again it is usually cooler at the shore. The evenings do cool off and as in Vegas the casino's are air conditioned.

I've been living in the Pacific Northwest for the past 4 years and I've become a heat wuss now because of it. I grew up in Hawaii (it's gotten hotter there over the years due to global warming) and prior to moving here to the PNW, lived in Wisconsin. I don't enjoy the Vegas heat at all. The hottest I have been there was late June 2013 and anytime I stepped outside it felt like I had just walked into a huge oven set on broil. :/

The heat in AC is nothing frankly. Even on a real hot day there is a breeze off the ocean and there is plenty of shade to be had along the boardwalk. The CET properties in AC are essentially two at this point. Bally's and Caesars are right next to each other at the center of the boardwalk. You can access one from the other without going outside should you so choose. The recently re-opened WWW casino is in the middle but is part of Bally's. The other CET property is Harrahs on the Marina side. It's a very large property but isn't walk able from the boardwalk area. At least not by anybody sane. So if you're going to be in town for just the day. I'd park at either Bally's or Caesars and get a TR card. It's free parking with a minimum of play (20 tier points I believe?), and you'll be centrally located for walking around. Have fun.

Thank you for this most helpful advice on where to park and the relative location of CET properties. Gives me a great starting point to work with!

I am considering an overnight visit with the hubby and leaving the kids with their grandparents :) The main reason why I was looking into CET is so I can get started with their TR program for future Vegas visits. If I am lucky I'll escape coming back to the Jersey Shore with the in-laws again and will not be back to AC. The Borgata looks like a nice luxury hotel experience (yum) but not so sure about the casino being too posh? I like a laid back (but nice) casino feel.

We are in AC for the next 4 days on our yearly go to the beach for as cheap as possible vacation. Sitting on the beach right nkw, it is beautiful out. 78 degree, blue sky, and a gentle breeze. The next few days are not looking to be as nice.

Does anyone know of any promos that I should take advantage of? I have been looking at all of their websites and I am not seeing much.

I also keep seeing signs for online casinos with rebates. Does anyone know if out of state players can play and are these rebates worth playing or is it something where they will give it to you next month? I am on my phone and was having a hard time getting to their TOS.

Lastly, we are at Caesars. Is the buffet worth 39.99? Saw an add for 30 percent off on tuesdays. Maybe do it then?

Any other helpful advice is appreciated.

That's never going to happen, they are obsessed with dunes for protection from the storms (rightfully so), that's why even stepping on the dunes is a major offense.

If you like snow crab, they serve it fully shelled. Everything else is suboptimal.

Caveat: I haven't eaten at the CZR buffet on a weekday.

I have not been to AC for nearly 10 years, so what I'm saying may be out of date. However, while I'm a very loyal Harrah's customer for the most part, and don't enjoy the high end Vegas casinos much, Borgata is different. You feel GOOD at Borgata, not overwhelmed, even though they have some features that compare well with even high-dollar places on the Strip. Their rooms are wonderful, done in Danish modern with amazing bedding, exceptionally clean, nice amenities, great bathrooms. Their personnel in all areas are the most gracious and helpful in AC. Their food is good to outstanding, mostly affordable. Their comps are decent, and their games are mostly good and minimums are not out of sight at most times. The property is laid out really well for my purposes, big enough to offer everything I want to play, but not vast and spread out.

There's a reason I have them listed as the best casino property anywhere (in my profile) and in 30 years of gambling, I haven't found a place that suits me better.

That said, the reasons and circumstances you listed above, you may well be happier with your short time in AC to go to a TR property. I don't like Caesars - they chip at you for lots of small things (like sidebets "for 1" instead of "to 1" and some other cheesy moves), but Harrah's is good overall and Bally's is ok.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Do the thing for new/inactive players at Taj. It is worth it. Do not bother with Resorts' promo. I would say the buffet at Caesars is not worth 39.99, but I haven't been there. If it's as good as Harrah's, it's worth about $25-$30.

None of the online promos are worth anything, at least last time I checked. Besides, do you really want to spend your vacation inside on the computer? :)

I know you are looking for deals, but I have to tell you we did the Helicopter ride off the steel pier last week and it was worth every dollar. 10 minute ride over the beach, city and Brigentine. I never flew in a copter before so I may be biased but again it was great.

As for the Caesars buffet, not worth even close to the price. Harrahs is a much better deal as someone else said, if you are into buffets. Not sure if you are a drinker but even if you don't, Ducktown Tavern has 3 Happy Hours a day, including 11am-1pm with 1/2 price apps. Great value deal. It's a block behind old Trump Plaza and a safe, clean place. Always police eating in there.

Slot tournament at Ballys Tuesday 3-5pm on the main casino floor. Promoted as a senior event but it is open to all TR cardholders regardless of age. No play required.

Masters of Illusions Show at Harrahs Thursday night. Comp tickets should be easy to come by. Here is an offer code:ATL071FDQX3

$20,000 Slot Tournaments at Borgata Monday and Tuesday 2-8pm. You may be able to get a free entry, if not it requires earning $5 comp for an entry ($2500 coin in VP or $1250 coin in slots, I believe).

For the online casinos you must be over 21 and gamble from a location in N.J. You don't as far as I know have to be a resident of N.J.
You phone must have its gps enabled to confirm your location. By all means let us know how you make out with a trip report.
Other then the online stuff, many promotions dry up a bit during the summer season.
You want a buffet? Caesars is good, Borgota's is excellent!

We go yearly so I am already an active Taj player.

As for playing on the computer. We are here with a 3 and 1 year old so I only get to play every other day. If the promos are worth it, then I could do those on the off day.

You can just call any Caesars property, select "new reservations" from the prompts, give them your TR number and the offer code and see if you can get the tickets. If they're not sold out, they may be able to offer them to you depending on your status in TR.

I wouldn't describe Borgata as especially "posh", but it's arguably one of the top experiences overall in A.C. You really have to decide how important it is for you to be right on boardwalk. With Revel gone, the nicer casino floors in A.C. are generally in the Marina area but, as others have mentioned, those require a cab, jitney, car, etc. if you want to go to the beach.

Now the offer code, that's an interesting topic. I 'm assuming in a mailer, or is that via email, or both perhaps?
If I post the offer code that I rec'd, could someone else use that code online? Get some goodies?
Depending on the answers to those questions, who wants to swap codes?

As to AC Buffets, and I've eaten at them all in the last few years. Borgata and Harrahs tied as best. Caesars re-did the buffet there recently, it's a close second. The rest aren't worth going to at all in my opinion. Are any of them worth 35-40 bucks. Maybe if you eat a ton of seafood. Otherwise no. But kids under 6 i believe eat free (that helps me). CET has BOGO buffet coupons all the time. You can also use your TR money there easily.

Regardless, I don't think any of them are worth going out of the way for so just go to whichever is most convenient to you.

June numbers are out. Overall brick and mortar gaming revenue down 9.5 percent, while existing operators up 4.5 percent. Adding in internet figures places the figures at -8 percent and +5.5 percent, respectively. Borgata, Resorts, and the Nugget had nice YOY increases, while the Taj had its normal ~20 percent slide.

Taj dealers privately have blamed the protestors for losing businesses. Are dealers right?

In Oct 2014, the protestors blocked the AC expressway.

In March 2015, the protestors asked players to boycott Taj.

In June 2015, the protestors still picketed in front of Taj; thus, it seems that the Titanic sinks nearly into the point of no return.

Vegas GN Buffet will never see me again. It was old, dull, and I lost most of a day there being sick after a late lunch brought me down with bad meatloaf. A little more than a year ago, so I don't expect much has changed.

No idea about AC GN. It was an out-of-business Trump Marina last I was there. Awful facility then, but you all have given me to understand the new owners improved it greatly.

Just ate at Caesars for lunch. It was $25 a person but the kids were free so $50 for the four of us. Comps were 1 to 1 so it was only 5000 points. Food was decent and I ate at least 50 worth of seafood but the kids and wife barely ate a plate combined.

We ate at johnny rockets last night. Was slightly annoyed when our $40 check turned into 8k points because they are 2 to 1. Last year they were 1 to 1 so that was a surprise and a waste of points. Could have eaten buffet with crab legs for the same amount of points.

GN is owned by mega millionaire Tillman Fertitta. His Landry's Restaurant group is hugely successful. They own over 500 restaurants.

Mr. Fertitta did an AMAZING job in turning the decrepit Trump Marina into a desirable thriving property.

I think we both agree with that. From steaks to seafood, their restaurants are industry leaders.

You went to a buffet (anytime, anywhere) and ate meatloaf! Really, meatloaf? Maybe it's just me, and I do cook, but I cannot imagine a scenario where I would go to a casino buffet and even taste their meatloaf. Meatloaf, really, did I already ask that?

I just ran into your post, made me laugh, wondered if you had tried my shared recipe. I made the same about a week ago, fed family for a day or two on leftovers. Was good, as always. Did you ever try my recipe?. Truthful response only please.

My wife occasionally decides she wants to go 'out' and eat. OK, I'm game, where do you want to go Honey? She asks "where do you want to go". Not a fair question, she wants to go out but asks me where I want to go. My answer is always something similar to "pick some thing you'd like to try, I'm up for anything". I am trying to be nice, trying hard. She picks this or that place, we eat, sometimes good, sometimes exceptional, I have to pick something for me that I instinctively know I wouldn't make better at home in my own kitchen. That limits choices considerably. They got prime rib? I like prime rib but rarely prepare it at home. Prime rib is good, especially if someone else prepares it for you, and they do at least a decent job of it. Had prime rib night before last at a national chain. Wasn't bad, but I could have made it better! But, it's really hard to make some things in small, family size, batches.
Eat well, and cheers afterwards.

Yes, I'm aware of Mr. Fertitta and Landry's which is why I made the comment. I visited the Golden Nugget yesterday and I really believe their efforts are paying off. After the closing of the Atlantic Club many locals are calling it home. I've always liked the property but I'm not overly fussy, in fact I'm easy to please just like I am on this forum.

So I loaded caesars online casino up, they have a 100% match up to 300 with 10x play through. Figured that isn't so bad. Except I will never get 6000 through for as slow as it is running. I have tried laptop, phone, and tablet. Also tried wifi and cell service. It is just not working well. I will finally get it to work and it will crash. Uggg

But, the GN AC buffet really isn't very good. I know people who won't eat there even if comped.

Do the thing for new/inactive players at Taj. It is worth it.

Found this on their website:

Looks like you can do it after being inactive for 3 months.

Two questions though, I hope anyone who knows the answers can help:

I understand slot dollars earned from playing VP will be excluded, but can the bonus slot dollars be redeemed in VP?
And how much slot coin in does it take to earn 1 slot dollar?

Thanks

That offer's dead. You must have retrieved it from an old web page.

July numbers out. For brick and mortar, existing operators up 7 percent, while total gaming revenue down 7 percent if joints that closed last year are taken into account. Internet was up 24 percent. Borgata the big winner, up close to 20 percent, followed by Resorts and the Nugg both with double-digit percent gains. Taj down close to 12 percent, while the others gain was 5 pct or less.
