Thanks for the update! If that's their minimums at peak hours, I'd expect $15 BJ and $10 craps at the off-peak times, which the average casual player can deal with much better.

I have yet to see mini-baccarat minimums under $100 at MD Live, although I've only been there once or twice at off-peak hours since tables opened. Hollywood WV, to their credit, keeps a mix of minimums open. The last time I was there on a Saturday night, at least one or two $15 MB tables, mostly $25, and $50/$100 mins in the high limit area, as I'd expect.

Passed through earlier this week around dinner time on a weekday (between 5 and 6 pm)...walked through the main floor and peeked into the high limit area from the outside

6 craps tables open out of the eight...one $15 table, the rest $25, all busy, but not packed.

Limited $15 blackjack tables mixed in with the $25 tables...$25 is still the majority though, and the $15 tables are mixed throughout, not confined to one pit. $100+ (saw $200 and $300 min tables) in the high limit area. Interestingly, I noticed batch shufflers in the high limit area too.

Only saw a couple roulette tables, but all had $25 minimums I could see.

All mini baccarat tables were $100.

Hey there gang. Spent some time at Hollywood Perryville on Friday the 21st, thus a brief report. Long story short the limits have come down, and the place is less crowded than when they first opened tables a few months ago. Craps (1 table) $10 min, Roulette (1 table) $10 min. 3 and 4 card poker (1 table each) $10 min.
As for Blackjack...they had 7 tables open. 2 at $15, 4 at $25, 1 at $50. Rules the same at all tables. MD standard rules. S17, surrender avail. etc etc.

The $15 BJ tables were crowded, the $25 not so much maybe 50% full...not a single person playing $50 that I saw. At between 2-4pm Friday. I left around 5ish..no sign of limits increasing for Friday night. Two different dealers I talked to said MD Live opening hurt them "a little". Floor supervisor I spoke with briefly said the same thing. Based on the lower limits and less crowded conditions I'd say they were hurt more than "a little". Overall it was a very pleasant experience, and variance was good as I managed to win about $700. Game is highly countable, in my opinion, slowish dealers and good penetration.

By the sounds of that, it doesn't seem they'll be opening any more (non-poker) table games anytime soon...

Speaking of poker, MD Live has been mum on when their poker room will open, but based upon the dealer training dates they've posted, it might be sometime at the end of July or beginning of August. I'll be interested to see what the tournament buy-ins will cost....supposedly the room will have a dedicated tournament floor.

Appears to be August 29th - walkthrough/soft open on the 26th - based on papers they filed with the lottery commission.

Their website says Poker starts August 28th.
Have not received an email with any more details.
Been playing on their shufflemaster Ultimate Texas tables,
it is creepy that the shufflemaster now knows your cards as they're dealt (at least on the computerized tables*)
* the cards are dealt but all the numbers are in the computer's brain. When you cash out then you get chips. I would almost say it's suspicious since gameplay last few times has gone like this: win 3 of first 5 hands with two trips winners, then 8 straight losses to crap out, and losses that are meant to suck you in with 4x's bets. But that's crazy, of course.

The new promotion at Md Live is based on BlackJack Play, get BJ get a letter...

So, I decided to checkout the BJ tables. I walked up to the most expensive table I could find:
$50 min, dealer stands on all 17, hits on 16. BJpays 3/2
looked like it was dealt from a shoe, not a SHFL randomizer.
and asked how many decks...
the answer was 8.
I asked if there were any single deck shoes in the place and he looked like I asked for a chance to mark the cards.
So, I guess that's another glorious high point for MDLive, lower EV high endBJ.
Is this normal?

As far as I know, MD set the rules for BJ (all tables are 3:2, S17). Therefore, single-deck at those rules would have almost zero house edge. I'd be surprised if they even offered double deck.

At least the one big money table I saw ($50) had a shoe. It wasn't in the VIP High Roller area, btw.
It had a shoe.
But what's interesting is that the Wizard says that the shoe has lower player odds than the CSM.
So, there's that to consider.

Just got back from Md Live for first time. Went on a sunday afternoons and it was very busy. Craps tables were full. 2 $50 tables and about 5 $25 tables. The craps dealers are HORRIBLE. You can tell most of them are brand new to it and they SUCK. I came to throw some dice, not check their math. You really have to be careful there and make sure you get paid out properly. I guess i have always taken an experienced craps dealer foregranted since i usually play in Vegas. Hope they get their act together soon.

I'll be interested to see how nice the poker room turns out to be. Considering how it's being added onto the side of the casino, hopefully not too much noise from the main floor will carry over.

On an unrelated note, I had a chance to enter the high limit table games pit when a pit boss couldn't answer a question I had and said the hosts might have more information. Baccarat was $500 minimum on a weekday afternoon (not surprisingly, the table was empty), and I only saw the standard red discard holder at the table (no round wooden discard slot). I would seriously hope, at that level, you get to handle the cards (I've definitely seen $25 and $50 minimum squeeze games at Parx). Then again, I saw the auto-shufflers at the high limit blackjack tables and a "00" on the history board at the high limit roulette table, so maybe not.

Wait...are you saying at Md Live they had auto shufflers (the vertical kind you put a whole shoe into)...or CSM's where they constantly feed in the cards after every hand or two? Auto shufflers are not so bad. CSM's should be taken out back and blown up, I don't think I've ever seen a high limit room with CSM's.. Were the high limit tables all $100 or more...I assume so.

Not that it matters to me but others may be interested. Are you are saying the high limit roulette wheel was 00, not single 0. That's also an abomination. MD live in general seems to be in "fleece the suckers mode". They place is packed every night so I guess the high limits and CSM's aren't scaring that many people away. It's too bad because the BJ rules are pretty good, but everything else about the property makes is pretty anti-player.

The table I saw had a batch shuffler (where all 6 decks go in at once)...maybe some are hand shuffled.

I did not see the roulette layout itself, and I only saw from a distance, but I'm pretty sure there was a "00" on the history screen. I think I've read that in some places casinos convert a 00 table into a single 0 by spinning again if 00 comes up...maybe they do that there.

Completely by chance, I was there today. I hit all three MD casinos today to pick up my souvenir chips. I played craps each place-- no poker.

When I went into the table games area at Maryland Live!, there was a line that stretched almost the entire length of the casino. It was obvious that something big was going on, but I had no idea what. I had to ask a guy in the line, and he told me it was opening day for the poker room. Unless they were passing out cash to first-day attendees, I think one would really have to love poker to wait in such a line.

i was there. took 1hr 15min to get in. once in, i was seated immediately.
i saw wsop champ greg raymor.
comps are $1/hr which should be 600pts/hr.

From what i read, between 1 and 2hr waits to get in. there was still a 15min wait at midnight. :o

$2 blue chips-> lots of people hate them. it looks too much like the $25 chips.

dealer racks only have 2 rows of white, 1 row of red, and like a bazillion rows of blue.
WTF?!

u gota buy chips from the cashier and reload from chip runners.

i can understand blues for 2/4 limit games. but why others?!

It was quite a change from Charleston where the dealers, even at the 1/2 table has tons of greens and blacks in their bucket too. At MdLive, just ones, twos and some fives.

My complaint is that the tables are smaller than other places. There's no "track" and the SHFL mechanisms stick out of the table right in the middle of the action (well, off to the dealer's left) threatening to eat cards. The chairs were nice leather chairs.

The waitresses were all very nice indeed. They even printed up a menu for the tables.

The bad beat jackpot is apparently for bad beats of quad jacks. So, good luck with that. Also, there is a mini-bad beat bonus. But I don't know what that is.

A table next to me got a royal flush and there were envy wins for all the players at the table...unlike the time I got trounced by a royal at WV.

On a side note, as a relatively new poker player, I wonder if it's normal to play for hours straight and to not even make a pair. I had one of those nights where I start off with a booming boat that paid off nicely to hours of grinding nothingness.

I did. I went last summer for stone crab day. It was pretty good. Since you referenced the price, I don't think you'll leave feeling you got a lot of value, but you'll be full and content.

I'll try the prime rib place on my next visit. Anyone have thoughts on that?

Snow crab is my thing when at buffets. My meals usually consist... 90% of crab and 10% of dessert. It entirely depends on the quality of the legs, $35 for horrible legs (Monte Carlo, LV) is ridiculous... $40 for good legs (Caesar's AC) is worth every penny. I even had one for $25 (Indian Casino, Muckleshoot, Auburn, WA) that was not worth it... water logged.

Couldn't agree with this post more...Yes the Prime Rib is a good restaurant. The original one in Baltimore is a must do. But the casino one is basically the same menu but with all the entrees $10 more expensive ( to cover the high MD Live rent, I presume). It's a good meal...but not a good value.

Frankly the whole MD Live thing in general I'm pretty bleh on. It's an OK casino... but lets face it it's in a mall parking lot. Bleh.

Sure they do....and if it's comped, it's a great meal. If you're paying the bill it's a pricey one is all we were saying. It would be interesting to know what % of the meals there are all or mostly comped. I know i asked that question at Morton's in AC once and the manager said "about half".

Well, in Md Live, table play just gets put into the point system. One dolt who was putting down $50 a hand on trips bets next to me was asked if he wanted to be "rated" (course, he only lasted 4 hands) so I guess at a certain price range, you'll get on the radar.

Maybe this wasn't true at first, but you can use comps for Prime Rib now. At table games, just ask a pit boss about it. Best way I hear is to ask for a $ amount in F&B. You can say, "what I have available." If you ask for a Prime Rib comp, and you don't have $75 available, you may get turned down whereas if you have enough play for a $50 food and beverage comp, then they can do it. Point is the pit boss has to see a supervisor or shift manager to do it. All they can do is listen to what that higher up as to say. They don't think outside the box much / counter offer. "Oh, I can only give you $70 not $75. Sorry, you don't have enough."

Side note is no issue with heat mostly because it's 8D without RSA. One time I overheard something like "[they don't think we] know what they're doing." Probably had nothing to do with the bet spread though - just observant.

Also, in new gaming jurisdictions it's amazing what superstitions people come ingrained with. Some people have quite the balls on them to tell you not to play two hands or shit like that (basic strategy included). "When she was here, we were losing. Then she left, and we won one hand." Bro, the count is fucking +22, and there are 2.5 decks left to be dealt. I'm going to f*ing play two hands, and it is not going to have any affect on you whatsoever.

I wish they understood that a player could be hitting hard 17s all day and that doesn't change anything more than them standing on 16 (or worse 14 / 15) all the time. It's not that I care to educate. I just don't want to be berated. They don't take no for an answer either. "Sir, I promise you how any player plays his or her hand does not affect the game for the other players. It may only appear that way for that particular hand. Try to remember the scenarios where someone stands on a 15 v dealer 10, and saves the table when the dealer busts."

It is interesting, though, next time I am playing a table game, I will ask about the prime rib comp. So, what do you do, just say, hey, can I get rated for the Prime Rib comp...what is F&B?

um.. 100 rewards points is $0.17

you mean $100 reward dollars? (60k points)

Just ask for a comp if you play table games. I see some $15 mins these days. Not many.

Was there over the weekend, on a Saturday around dinner time, so take that into account....

BJ was $25 and up, with the $25 towards the Prime Rib and the up ($50) towards the center. High limit area was $100 and $200 mins for the tables I could see walking by.
Craps was $25 at all tables with one $50 table. I believe all were open.
Roulette was $25 at most tables, a couple $50 ones (00 wheels).
Mini baccarat was $100 minimum at all tables (and it's true mini baccarat, I don't believe any of their tables allow players to handle the cards), and I've never seen it less than that since the soft opening.
The carnival games were $10 or $15 minimums.
Big 6 was $5 minimum.

just giving an update to the above post, which is mostly correct.

Now, occasionally on weekday nights, CSM BJ is $15 minimum, but I have also seen CSM at $50 minimum too. Shoe games are still $25+

Craps midweek, late, there is usually one $15 table, with the rest at $25+. Last Friday, the $50 and $100 craps tables were surrounded with players, but the action was very minimal. Most players were betting the don't pass with no-odds, and only when they were the shooter. Its like each player was waiting their turn to seven out. The $15-25 tables were very loaded with action though. I'm willing to bet the drop is much higher from the $15-25 craps tables.

I've never seen the Mini-Baccarat tables for under $100 min.

Roulette now sees a $15 minimum at times. Usually there are one or two $15 min roulette wheels, then several other $25 min.

Carnival games now go as low as $10 min (UTH, 3-Card Poker, Miss-Stud, etc.).

I didn't pay attention to the Pai Gow mins.

Video Poker paytables recently improved in the HL room, notably the $5 DDB. $5 JoB increased from 6/5 to 8/6. They also have a new multi-line $1 VP machine in the HL room with some carnival games (Extra-Draw, STP, Ultimate-X, and I forget the other). I wish they would install a few "Dream Card Poker" machines like they have at the Stations in Vegas.

HL slot room seems to be getting a lot of new machines already, notably the $25, 2-credit WOF machines, and new $1 Aristocrat video slots.

Overall, the slots seem less and less crowded. I'm thinking either the locals are going broke, or they may have significantly tightened up the machines in preparation for the Horseshoe opening in Baltimore this summer.

I've been thinking this same thing since they opened. At $50-100, most people are going to make sparse bets only on the pass/don't pass. At $10-15, players will throw probably the same amount out, but on higher edge bets and for all shooters instead of just 1-2.

.......
Winnings from slots is expected to decline 16 percent, and table games by 25 percent . The days of "open the doors and let the suckers in" will soon be gone !

That is quite a site for the Horseshoe in Baltimore. I thought it would be in the high end of the inner harbor, but it's actually next to the stadiums off of the BWI parkway.

classy.
