We decided to spend a few days at Bay Mills Casino in Brimley, MI. Main intent was to gamble some and eat some and rest up some. It was election day and we'd had our fill of electioneering on the tv and just wanted to get away from it.

Got up there and checked in by about 1:30. Room was nice with flat screen, refrigerator, and microwave. We ventured into the casino proper. At one end there's a group of table games and the rest of the casino is taken up with slots (mostly penny) and some 25 or so video poker games.

They have a second gambling area called Back Bay that doesn't have any table games but does have a good bank of video poker with 12 or 14 machines and from 6 to 12 different games on each machines. Pay tables aren't anything to write home about but we've seen worse. There's also a sports bar / snack restaurant in that part of the complex.

I settled at the blackjack table for several hours. It was a six deck game. Looked like they were cutting off about 1 ½ decks. Double after split, double on anything, dealer stands on soft seventeen so rules weren't the worst. There didn't seem to be any heat at all. I saw one player regularly move his bets from $5 to $60 and no one paid any attention to him at all. The six deck game was the only game open until 6 PM when a double deck game opened up with slightly different rules (double only on 10 or 11) so I didn't play it. Craps and roulette opened at 6 PM also. There were several added game tables that spread some of the specialty games but they weren't getting a lot of action.

I got discouraged after a while and joined my wife at video poker. Played mostly deuces with a pay table that put it in the 95% or 97% range depending upon which machines I played. I actually preferred playing on a slant top but the payoff was lower there. I played quite a while on the old fashioned uprights and finally found four deuces.

The main dining facility is nice there and prices are reasonable. They have a buffet in the restaurant but we preferred to order off the menu. If you avoid steaks, the most expensive item is around $14 and you can eat for a lot less. Breakfast is in the $6 to $8 range.

On Wednesday, I spent the day in about the same fashion, excepting that I won a few dollars at blackjack. I got my second set of four deuces at video poker.

It appears that you get 1 point for $4 in and 1,000 points is worth a $1 cash back. It's a little difficult to understand the comp dollars that you can earn but over the two days I got $10 cash back and earned about $20 in comps for both my blackjack and my video poker play.
