From the top 3 equations, we can surmise that:

Horse = 10
Pair of Horseshoes = 4
Pair of Boots = 2

Assuming a single "shoe" is equal to half the value of a pair:

Horseshoe = 2
Boot = 1

So, substituting for the bottom equation:

1 + 10 x 2 = ??

Order of operations dictates that the multiplication be done first:

1 + 20 = 21

If the order of operations is ignored and the last line is computed left-to-right, you would get 22.

Replace the symbols with X, Y, and Z =). Solve for one variable, plug in to the other equations to solve for the others.

Seriously? Did it go viral because it was "so difficult" most adults couldn't solve it, or ?

You're right about one thing. FB is a nasty virus and I'll never use it.

You'll see these types of questions in the "recommended" on YouTube. It's basically asking if your paying attention. Even I missed the single boot and horseshoe the first time.

It's not at all clear that the value of "two boots" is simply double what the value for "one boot" is. They could be entirely different quantities, and for that reason, the question is indefinite.

For a very relevant example:

Payout for single bars equals 10, but the payout for double bars is not 20, etc.
