I am very thankful to have each and every person on this forum who is interested to participate in all the subjects related to Las Vegas and gambling.
I would love to hear from others who are thankful and what they are thankful for.
I am thankful for my life, the freedom of self employment and doing something I enjoy for a living (too many folks hate their jobs/careers), and most of all thankful for my family and friends that think enough of me to want to share in each others life.
I have been legally attached (married) for a little over a year and I am still not sick of my spouse/partner. :) He is my best friend and I feel so lucky to share life's experience with him.
My younger brother came back into my life several years ago and moved in with me two years ago and it has been really fun and enjoyable sharing life with him as well. My Mother divorced her husband this year and relocated to Las Vegas and lives nearby in a nice community and we have spent the last 6 months getting to know each other again and rebuilding our relationship after nearly 15 years estranged.
It's been a great year and I have a wonderful life and am most grateful to whoever up there is looking out for me.
Thanx for the thread Ahigh and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
and I don't have to pretend it's another
holiday I could care less about. I think I
used to like them but now they're just a
pain in the ass. There are good prices at
the grocery store on certain things, though.
They had #3 bags of onions on sale, buy
10 bags for $10 get the 11th free, so I bought 33
bags and hung them in my basement which
is same conditions as a root seller. I love
onions and cook them every day.

Really!?!? 33 bags of onions hanging in your basement is what you are most thankful for?
If one knew nothing else of EvenBob, hadn't read a single one of the other 18,848 posts, this is a perfect synopsis of what we all have come to know as EvenBob. :/
I am thankful you are a member of this site. You amuse me. Happy thanksgiving anyway. :)

And the 150 cans of green beans I got 3/$1.
A well stocked pantry is all you need.
Quote: Dicenor33Thanks to this website, I learned that in order to become a successful gambler first you have to become a successful divorce lawyer.
Why are so many of your posts slams at Ace?
It's very annoying.

EB is ready for Armageddon. Beans and onions is all you need. Oh, and vodka :-)

Nice response, Ace, it says it all. lol
Quote: JohnzimboThe fact that Evenbob dislikes Thanksgiving just moved this holiday up a notch in my book :)
I got tired of it about 10 years ago. I always
got stuck with cooking the big dinner and
when I quit doing it nobody took up the
slack and yhey managed to get themselves
invited to dinners elsewhere. I also don't
eat carbs now, so the usual fare is useless
to me. I don't watch football, so why
bother to do anything different, it's
just another Thurs to me, I can even buy
liquor at the supermarket.
Also: thanks, Enzo!

It reminds me of growing up going from Chicago to Milwaukee where I was originally from. We would go to both families. One would complain we left to early the other would complain we arrived too late. So we basically said, this is too much. We are gonna have our own at home, if you wish to come down, you can, if not, we will see you at Christmas.
for the next few months, I just go to the
basement.

I would be forever thankful if that is what it took for me to be thankful/ great full for me to enjoy the life I get to live right now.
For the rest who forget to remember life is short and let the things we have to do to make it get in the way, enjoy today! And remember, everyday alive is special and give Thanks for what you have and those you love, Everyday.
Peace to all- Boz
Frankly the jury is out on that six foot tall, illuminated from within inflatable turkey my neighbor put up.
It would be great to have a new holiday, one dedicated to gambling (or "gaming," if you prefer).
Give everybody the day off and a bonus check and send them to the casinos.
Those inclined can display giant inflatable dice in their yards.
I like people who brake their back to make a living. Others don't mean much to me.Quote: EvenBobWhy are so many of your posts slams at Ace?

Off topic much? I'm thankful also that my children are happy and healthy. My step-son hit his head very hard in hockey and has been throwing up every day since then. We were worried it may be a serious injury, but found out from doctor yesterday that he just has a stomach virus.
I'm thankful that I have my job and the support of people who believe in me to have even a chance at making a difference in the world of gambling for the better.
I'm thankful for a long career that has been quite enjoyable thus far creating software and artwork and sounds and for being given the opportunity to invent things and be rewarded financially for those inventions.
I'm thankful that I have been given an opportunity by David Foley and the support of my coworkers and peers to pursue my dream to create a new kind of gambling game that enables unlimited bet denominations on a single-player game with large positive EV for professional play.
I am thankful that my Mother, her Mother, my sister, and myself from my immediate family are all very healthy and happy. My grandmother is playing bingo and is in her 90's.
I have a lot to be thankful for.

I am sorry that the membership didn't respect the intent of your thread, Ahigh. That's WoV membership for ya....what are you going to do. :/
As per Boz's comments: I, personally AM thankful for my 'blessings' each and every day and I express that to the appropriate source, but I don't think anyone wants to hear or talk about that. Thanksgiving is the day that we publicly acknowledge our thanks.....that's the game.
I am thankful that the blanket of ignorance is being pulled back from medical benefits of marijuana.Quote: AhighI wanted to create a thread where folks could express thanks for the Thanksgiving time of year.

I am thankful for all the people who endured the punishments by the states, who got initiatives on ballots, and canvassed and informed and encouraged and who are responsible for helping sufferers acquire medical marijuana for conditions thought by medical doctors, that they may receive some or much benefit from mmj.
This is just one small link, suggesting diseases that may benefit from using mmj: http://www.unitedpatientsgroup.com/resources/illnesses-treatable
For some, it is a miracle in reducing or stopping seizures, and reducing the side effects that can come with Chemotherapy.
I am thankful for it now being "more legal" for doctors, researchers and scientists to take a more scientific look at the benefits from mmj, now that the stigma is reduced, and access to "somewhat" legal experiments can be performed.
I pshawed it myself for awhile, and I have smoked it occasionally since the sixties. But when I used it properly, I am absolutely convinced it has medicinal properties and is the best possible medicine by itself or helps other meds improve the treatments otherwise taken.
So thanks to the cannabis soldiers, and my sympathy for those that had to endure prison for something that is a naturally occuring substance, used as medicine for 6 thousand years.

I've never tried mj but I have Crohn's and brought up medical use (the pill form without the "high") as NY is a state that allows it for Crohn's - doc said he had no idea and would "look into it" - I don't expect him to prescribe even though I've heard it works wonders for Crohn's oh well
I purchased some of the low thc stuff and made mmj oil with it. At night I put an eye dropperful or two in a cup of tea at bedtime. It works well, and tastes good.Quote: aceofspadesI've never tried mj but I have Crohn's and brought up medical use (the pill form without the "high") as NY is a state that allows it for Crohn's - doc said he had no idea and would "look into it" - I don't expect him to prescribe even though I've heard it works wonders for Crohn's oh well
I too have heard it helps with Crohn's. I just suggest people be open minded, and find whatever works. Suffering isn't cool at all. If it doesn't work, no harm done.
on the the other side of the freeway where
a semi is all mangled and laying in a ditch
off to the side. Red and blue lights all
around. My wife whips out her smart
phone and learns the driver was killed
a couple hours ago when he skidded off
in a rain storm.
We don't even consider how amazing it
is that we learn the details of the accident
almost as we're driving by. In the not too
distant past, we would have waited hours
or even days to get the full story.
