Lol there's a lot of things wrong with that movie. As for buying in for a 100k, I don't remember that exact scene. But if you're betting 10k a hand, then 100k is not so outrageous, is it?

The scene with the vegas showgirls cashing out the chips.
Forgetting that no one would trust a bunch of strange women (least of all showgirls) with their money, its pretty laughable that the characters said it was too suspicious for them to cash out so much money, but a line of showgirls (still in glitzy costume) cashing out thousands when they didn't even play at the casino was not.

21 the movie wasn't very good. Hard 8 was much better. All the "Oceans" movies are plastic. I enjoyed "Showgirls." Elizabeth Berkley and Gina Gershon were perfectly cast. No, it was not a great picture, I just enjoyed it--the scenes of Vegas twenty years ago. Casino was probably the best "Vegas" movie ever made.
I don't go to the movies anymore. Films are not made to be good, they're made to make a profit. There's no subtlety in film making today because movies have to appeal to people who don't appreciate it.

As anyone who was ever on the MIT team will tell you: There's plenty of deviations between reality and the book, and even more deviations between reality and the movie.

The movie industry never lets the facts get in the way of a good story or a bad one. Planet Hollywood didn't open until over a decade after the team played Vegas.

Reminds me of the movie Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. As I recall, the story in this movie takes place in the future. And there's a scene where the marquee of the Dunes in shown. Problem is the Dunes was imploded before the film's story was to take place. Not exactly something the writer's would have had knowledge of, but let's dump on them anyway.
