Ride a faster, more agile and cheaper bike or ride with Grandpa. Tuff choice.

1 They're too terrified

So they whine and mock those who
do own them. There really is no middle
ground, it's one or the other.
That would be four kinds of men, not two. You're the first person I've ever encountered who cared this deeply about which category he belonged to.

Quote: RyanLoften99I think that the problem is that the younger guys imagine their pops as a Harley guy, so they feel like they need to get to that "dad" stage before they purchase one.
My guess is that younger people just don't have enough disposable money to waste on problem prone junk. They probably need something reliable.

I'm not sure if newer model Harleys are as problem prone as older models were. I believe it was Honda who actually built in "extra vibration" on one or more of their bikes to simulate vibration of a Harley-like feel. Odd maybe, but then car makers like Ford built in sound to enhance the growl in Mustang 5.0s.
Precise engineering of Japanese bikes apparently can't produce enough vibration on their own.

You're thinking of the old Harley.
The last 20 years they have improved
greatly. I have a 2007 Road King
and have never had a problem other
than replacing tires and oil changes.
45K miles on it and it looks like new.
It is almost exactly like this one:

I immediately turn off any movie that has a car chase scene that lasts longer than 30 seconds.

Why?
Quote: TigerWu
Why?
Because car chase scenes are just time fillers. The plot could be advanced equally with a 15 second car chase.

There are a few that took place in Pittsburgh. They are speeding down a road and make a left. Now they are on another road that is actually 5 miles away. It infuriates me. I think the same thing happened in the Jason Bourne movie.

Be interesting to see how long most movies would be if you started cutting everything that doesn't advance the plot.

Quote: GWAEWhat are the odds. Talk about cause and effect. The man could have done anything differently and would have avoided it. Anyways, locally 2 line highway. Car is going one way and hits a deer. Car coming the other direction, deer goes airborne through the window and kills driver. Could have stopped at last stop sign 1/4 of a second longer and would have lived.

Because there's nothing new in
chase scenes that we haven't
seen 12 times. Ever see how they
film them? You'll never watch
another one..

The plot of almost any movie in history could be completely covered in about five minutes or less.
You could always just fast forward through the chase instead of turning the movie off.

I usually enjoy car chase scenes in Bond movies. Trying to think of one I didn't.
Quote: EvenBobEver see how they

Yes. They strap cameras to cars and drive around.
Why would that make never want to watch another one?
Quote: DRichMy guess is that he was a healthy man that worked out and watched his diet. Serves him right. We can all go at anytime so just enjoy what you want.
Ain't that the truth. That is why I started taking vacations. I went years without going anywhere then said F this.
Quote: TigerWuThe plot of almost any movie in history could be completely covered in about five minutes or less.

I disagree. If the director is foolish enough to put a long chase seen in the movie, he is most likely filling it with other worthless crap. Turn it off.
BTW, I haven't watched a new movie in the past five years. I am not much of a movie person to begin with, they are just time wasters to me and I can usually find more enjoyable ways to waste my time (drinking and gambling). I am going to a theater on Thurdsay to see a pre-release of a movie my wife wants to see. The Art of Racing in the Rain. She absolutely loved that book.
What I recall of the Las Vegas chase scene in the Jason Bourne movie is that it took what seemed like 20 minutes to drive at full speed up Las Vegas Blvd. from the Aria to ParisLV. Then they hit a ramp at Bally's, flew into the air, and (and after an amazing but unseen flight) crashed landed into the Riviera, approximately a mile and a half away.Quote: GWAEThere are a few that took place in Pittsburgh. I recall taking a bus tour of sites on Oahu, when the driver/tour guide talked about some of the TV shows that had been filmed there. He noted that it amused/irritated the locals to see Tom Selleck (as Magnum, PI) driving down a road, going around a bend, and having the new camera angle reveal that he was then driving at a location on a completely different island! That Ferarri was an impressive vehicle!

The motorcycle chase in "Tomorrow Never Dies" was pretty bad... but it was a motorcycle after all.

Any modern chase seen would end
in the first 15 seconds in the real
world. That's why they're so boring.
They were actually better 40 years
ago when they were more realistic.

Neither holds a candle to Dennis Weaver in Duel, imo.

Not away, there just hasn’t been much posted lately that interests me. I read this thread every week or two.
I’m not really sure what the fear is, I guess both is the correct answer.
Quote: petroglyphI usually ff through the sex scenes .
Me too. Boring, and embarrassing for
the actors doing them because it can't
be done in just one take. As an aside,
Frank Sinatra hated doing movies
and directors hated him because he
refused to do more than the first
take. Frank thought movies were
dumb and easy and he only did it
for the money. Singing, that was
hard. He would do a song over and
over for a record till he got it right.

car chases used to be filmed at FIFTEEN mph with cuts to speedometer readings taken when the rear tires where on rollers. And Ronald Regan was in a film where the car chase scene WAS the primary plot development vehicle. The teamster who missed his stop-mark in that chase scene should have been paid a bonus.Quote: billryanI haven't watched it in years, but I loved the chase from The French Connection.
Best one might have been that director who told the crew the bank robbery scene was just for timing and blocking purposes, when in fact it was for real and no one in the bank had actually been told it was a movie; it was real customers, not extras. And when the bank manager hit the alarm button, the resulting car chase was real too, since the director had not notified the police at all.
Nor were there any external indications of a movie being filmed, so reaction of passersby was real.
