I heard this (briefly) on the radio earlier. Not sure if true or not -- but the guy talking about it said they could be prosecuted for not reporting a death. Hopefully that happens and the judge holds nothing back and throws everything at 'em.

All true. Happened here. News full of it last 3 days. Completely sick about it and of it.
And OJ is moving back here. Talk about icing on the cake.
I think Dateline: Florida should be an easy call. If it's bizarre, cruel, or disgusting, you don't even have to ask where any more.
The law does require notifying the County Coroner or the Medical Examiner if you are in an incorporated city, but usually the notification is 'promptly' which generally means 24 hours.
The usual example used is a baby crawling towards a cliff, you do not have to call out or intervene in any way, but if you do intervene you must not do it in a grossly negligent manner and in many jurisdictions may not do it in a negligent manner. Anyone who appears to attempt a rescue can expose themselves to liability if there actions impede others from rescue or from notifying officals of the need for rescue.
The jerks will probably beat the failure to notify charges.
As to tuna casserole, yeah great stuff. So is egg salad with tuna in it.
Unfortunately to make most tuna casserole or to make hard boiled eggs, I would need a burner and I have only a microwave and an oven, not a range. \
Strong bankruptcy and homestead exemption laws, he can hide his assets and income best here in Florida. Turks and Caicos, Cayman Islands are each banking secrecy havens, but beware those Florida lawyers who advertise about Asset Protection as some of them advocate forming a Cayman Island corporation to hide your wealth from creditors and the IRS. There are two company laws in the Caymans and one Corporations Act. The laws vary for a company but are clear for a corporation: the books are open to ANYONE if you use the word corporation rather than company in the cayman islands.Quote: beachbumbabsAnd OJ is moving back here. Wow I wonder what will become of these people. They are going to be a drain on society. I have zero problem with them not going into the water to help especially in Florida where there could be gators in the water.
Maybe they weren't swimmers at all, and saving a drowning person is really hard to do anyways without drowning too. Doesn't seem like the odds of survival would have gone up very much if they called anyone, only four minutes to make any difference. Can't really make an excuse for not getting the police involved to at least let them know the guy killed himself.Quote: AxelWolfhttp://nypost.com/2017/07/20/oh-he-just-died-disturbing-video-shows-teens-mocking-drowning-man/

Did you see the pics of the victim?
Gotta think he won't be missed.
Apparently the guys on land knew him, as IIRC one called him a "crackhead."
Wicked world.
Quote: RSDoesn't make sense to me. People buy gas because they have to. You don't buy more than you need.
Some people will buy more gas if it is cheap. Might make a driving vacation more affordable so they make a trip to Florida when they otherwise wouldn't have.

People buy gas when they need it. Cheaper gas allows people to drive more. I'd imagine most people drive more than the absolute minimum required for work and survival. At $2 a gallon, I will weekend in Laughlin and 29 Palms, at $5 a gallon I'm downtown.

Yeah, one crackhead in a wheel chair died while five crackheads watched. Somewhat similar to one gang of druggies ripping off some buyers and then having them pay a return visit.
But the media goes all gah gah over stuff like this. Whether it be Charles Manson or the druggies in Florida.

Of course this story reminds me of the terrible Seinfeld finale.
It's ok. It would be cooler if he drew the pictures first, then backwards to find the music, but then the music would probably stink.Quote: rxwine
Got chicken and rice. Was pretty nice. Will probably try something spicier or fried or whatever next time. I had enough food to take some home.
With a tea, total w/ tax was 5.95.
Wut.

The reason it pissed me off was I asked if I could bring the receipt in on Wednesday and get a credit as they are the same vitamins that would be on the shelf then. She said no. I was like, " then why the eff did you mention the sale?". Ignorance is bliss and I would prefer it to remain that way.
All it did was make me feel like I was getting jacked for 20 bucks. Beforehand I was perfectly content and happy with spending $80. Kind of just bugging me thinking about it. Probably never go back in there again.
Quote: billryanThat's the spirit. Yet... if you were going to return on Wednesday with the receipt anyway, why not have put back half the stuff.
It was just two items. I probably wouldn't have gone back Wednesday. If I managed the store a customer would get the money then if I was dumb enough to tell them while making a sale 2 days prior to the sale event. Also, I'd have a few choice words for any employee sabotaging my sales for the day before the event started. It just pissed me off. Not exactly sure why.
Imagine if I went to buy a car, and the salesperson told me to come back 2 days later and the car will be marked down $1000. Hey. why complain.
(and that has never happened, unfortunately)
Quote: rxwineSounds more like she was doing you a favor.

I vaguely recall in the fifties a NYC scarcity of stray cats in Chinatown episode in the headlines.
Anyone have actual proof of recent episodes of such meat substitution?

I can't imagine catching and butchering a cat for the whole 1lb of meat in it could have any economic benefit for a restaurant over chicken/beef/pork.
It's usually food well spoiled, but there is some truth to mystery meat when Chinese get involved. It definitely happens, but usually in China.Quote: gamerfreakI can't imagine catching and butchering a cat for the whole 1lb of meat in it could have any economic benefit for a restaurant over chicken/beef/pork.
Quote: MaxPenKind of got pissed at the store today. Went to a store by my new place and did some shopping. Picked up about $80 in vitamins along with the food. At checkout girl told me not to buy the vitamins until Wednesday. I was like "wut?". She then informs me they will be 25% off. I then informed her to ring them up because I am a customer buying now.

Just go on Wednesday, but a new one, then immediately return it using the old receipt.
Quote: MaxPenrant on store clerk
Really? You're upset because the store clerk tried to help you by saying essentially, "if you don't need these today, they'll be on sale on Wednesday?" This happens often enough. She was giving you information to help you save $20.
That's like getting pissed off at Santa Claus in Miracle on 34th Street when he directs families from Macys to the competing Gimbels to buy something cheaper there.
Bah! Humbug!
Quote: TigerWuI hate people that take a receipt back to a store to try and get money back during a sale when they've already paid full price. My parents would do that sometimes when I was a kid and in my head I would just be cringing and thinking, "Geez, guys, let it go... it's not that big a deal..."
If the store has a policy to honor that, why not?? That's like denying a loss rebate from a casino.
I bought a vacuum on Amazon that went on sale the next day for $60 cheaper. I emailed them and they put $60 back on my card, no problem.
Big box stores do it because they want shoppers feeling like they are always getting the best deal possible when making a purchase. And most of those stores have such liberal return policies that someone could just return the item they purchased and re-buy it with the discount. So it makes a lot of sense.
Its like shot takers at craps: no one really likes them but its such a pain to deal with them in any manner.Quote: TigerWuI hate people that .........l..."
I would tend to agree, but never put any penny-splitting as beyond someone's fixation. I understand that one reason rich Chinese are immigrating to America is that the food is relatively pure here but rarely so in China wherein all products are adulturated in some manner.Quote: gamerfreakI can't imagine catching and butchering a cat for the whole 1lb of meat in it could have any economic benefit for a restaurant over chicken/beef/pork.

I'm sure people eat cats/dogs in impoverished areas of china and elsewhere in the world. I just doubt that it was ever a widespread thing in the U.S., but I guess I could see it happening quite a bit in great depression/shanty town eras.
For that kind of ride, I'd prefer an armored vehicle with a machine gun.
Quote: TigerWuA few times while playing pai gow, I heard some Chinese people say what sounded like "Yao la" or "Yo la" while the dealer was setting his/her hand. Anybody know what that means?
I believe it means something like "don't have it"
So they are basically saying for the dealer to not have a good hand.
I thought it was mo la ,not yo la.
I could be totally wrong here, but this is what i was told by a non chinese speaking Asian.

Hey, check this out... I took what you said and played around in Google Translate for a few minutes, and came up with this:
Typed in "don't have it" and translated it to Chinese, came up with "mei you le."
So maybe they were saying "you le" as kind of a shortened version of that. And I guess if you say "mei you le" fast enough it might sound like "mo la."
The fact that you are spending that much on Vitamins should be whats pissing you off, especially since vitamins are one of the biggest cons around. I highly doubt you don't get all the vitamins you need from just eating half way normal.Quote: MaxPenKind of got pissed at the store today. Went to a store by my new place and did some shopping. I know you are going to tell me how much better you feel after taking your Flinstones chewable's and Centrum Silver, but trust me, it's a placebo effect. If you have a specific vitamin deficiency and a doctor recommends them, go for it.

20 or so years ago there was a rumor, unconfirmed, going around the DC area about cat or dog heads being found in a dumpster behind a Chinese restaurant. So I was talking to my Af/A co-worker about it and he said, "you know, that's why I don't order those items that say "Mongolian beef" or anything like that. "
I still chuckle about that one time to time.
As the song goes;
She'd been lyin' there for two or three weeks
The neighbors said they never heard a squeak
While hungry eyes that could not speak
said even little doggies have got to eat
