From the Special Olympics Website

"Special Olympics Nevada is taking fundraising to new heights!
Over the Edge is a unique event, providing participants the thrilling,
once in a life time opportunity to rappel down the outside of Planet
Hollywood in Las Vegas in an exciting and completely safe
environment. Individuals who want to participate are required
to raise a minimum of $1,000...".

- My first reaction is that they could raise a lot more funds
if the minimum was closer to $ 500 than $ 1000.

20 of us x $ 20 would get the WIZ pretty close AT the
$ 500 level. Oh well.

And I'm sure there would be a cool article as a bonus.

I think there is a limit to the number of individuals they can send over the edge, so charging the max that still fills the available spots is the way to go.

It's too bad that from the PH roof, if your eyes are good, you will be able to see folks who only paid 10% of your fee, running down the side of the Stratosphere.

Haven't been to the Strat for a while, so I had missed
that one.

Another good topic for an article ?

Strat Sky Jump

Looks like it is only $ 110, but they don't gouge for the
picture, so figure $ 120.

My daughter and I did the Sky Jump. I also made 5 solo parachute jumps while I was in college, so the Sky Jump at age 50+ was not out of character I guess.

Sky Jump was AWESOME

Cool. You answered my next question, or at least part
of it, IE have any board members done the Sky Jump ?

I'd consider it if I could get one of my brothers to do
it with me. I couldn't convince my younger bro to
join me at Sky Combat Ace for a round of acrobatics
over the desert.

But all 3 of us did at least one static line jump when
we were (much) younger. I was 22 at the time and
did 2 jumps. The 2nd one was to sortof prove I
could do it again.

My wife and I did SkyJump for our 10th anniversary just this past Friday. It was great - the few steps to the edge are scary but once you decide to make the jump it is great.

Yeah I did the jump in July last year when I was in Vegas.....It was outstanding, the crew at the top keep you completely at ease while getting you ready and make it simple, even for those people (like me) who are afraid of heights....
