Vig before the win is not uncommon, nor is it a douche move. It's just the rules at some places.

That is what I thought. The absence of lay lamers clinches it.

Most of my play at aliante and it's not that way is why I must be biased. Ty for letting me know it's common.

I don't know why, but I was under the assumption for a long time that vig on a buy or lay was always paid in advance (on the entire bet - i.e. buying the 4 is effectively 40-21 odds), and not just on the win.

Somebody refresh my memory: with "commission on the win," is it 5% on the amount won, or just 5% of the bet?

Buy, vig is 5% of the bet amount.

Lay, vig is 5% of the amount won (to be won).

Same amount whether it is upfront, or on the win.

Buy bet with vig on the win is not too hard to find in many locations. Mississippi has vig on the win for Buy 4,5,9,and 10.
Lay bet with vig on the win is very uncommon, since this really helps the player.

I asked the crew at Harrahs LV if I could buy the 5 or 9, paying the vig on a win only. They looked at me like I was insane. The stupid one even said it's worse than the place bet (buy of $31 paying 44, place of $30 would pay 42, even w/vig up front it's better).

Paying the vig up front is a douche move, but it's just one of those things that happens. Stick to the 6,8 or come bets if you can't get a buy or lay on win only.
Its - Possessive; It's - "It is" / "It has"; There - Location; Their - Possessive; They're - "They are"

Things might be tightening at Aliante. They have started imposing the table minimum onto odds bets for both do and don't. Just like CZR. They also seem to be adjusting their match bets and those free-play orange chips.
