It's primarily a personal choice.

What parameters do you use to judge what's best?

Hey my brother's name was Nathan. The answer is, "it depends."

If you want the best deal on BIG action, learn about 100x odds and go to the Cromwell.

If you want the best eye candy, bet pass-line only at a $25 craps table during peak times. Candidate casinos are: Wynn, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Palazzo, Venetian. Only rule is ONLY BET THE PASS LINE WHEN THE PUCK SAYS OFF. All you need to know (this is my #1 advice if you are a GUY that likes to look at hot GIRLS).

If you want to save the most money possible and don't care how classy the experience is, find a $2 or $3 table and play pass line only with no odds. Expect to be annoyed.

If you don't want to think at all and don't mind burning money or how anyone thinks you're not that smart, just bet red and black on double-zero roulette at any casino any time.

If you like pretty graphics and movies and stuff, play the slot machines and try to bet minimum bets at all times.

I hope this is helpful NATHAN!

No, I am not Aimee. This was my sarcastic and snarky reference of her infamous thread. ;)

Yes, welcome back, Ahigh!

I wish I had seen your advice before my trip last November. I stopped by Jokers Wild for cheap craps. It was painfully slow. It was a full table (at 9:00 AM). The dealers were a little on the slow side, but not too bad. But... everyone had to tinker with their place bets after every roll ("I'm off," "I'm on," "Press my 4, 8, & 9 a half unit each," etc.) It was like 2 minutes between rolls.

I was annoyed. I was not expecting to be! :P

House edge on double-zero roulette is 12.83 times as high as house edge per roll on craps passline.

That a 92.21% discount for switching from the stupid even-money roulette bet to the smart even-money craps bet.

If you are familiar with red and black on roulette, you win even money 18/38 or 47.36% of the time.

The pass line, you will win the same even money, but at 49.295% of the time. The time before resolution of the bet (per wall clock) is not significantly different. But there is more going on in between the resolution of the passline bet, and therefore the game is typically more fun for a beginner who knows nothing.

The ONLY thing that you need to know is ONLY BET THE PASS LINE WHEN THE PUCK IS BLACK AND SAYS OFF!

If you screw up and bet the pass line too late, it's a BIG mistake. If the point is already a four or a ten, you only win even money 33.33% of the time. A whopping 33.33% house edge too!
If you bet the pass after the point is made as a 5 or a 9, you will only win even money 40% of the time! a 20.00% house edge
And if you bet the pass line after the point is made as a 6 or an 8 you will only win even money 45.45% of the time, a 9.09% house edge.

If you do this often enough, you're better off playing roulette with a 5.263% house edge. But just learn to only bet the pass line when the puck says off and you're GOLDEN!

It's not quite that good from a time standpoint, but craps is still a lot better. You usually get about 4x as many throws per hour as you do roulette spins, so divide 12.83 by 4. Roulette is worse, but only 3.2x worse on an hourly basis.
At 120 rolls/hour, flat betting on the passline yields about 35.5 decisions and a theoretical loss of 0.5 units.
At 30 spins/hour, betting any outside bet on double-zero roulette yields 30 decisions and a theoretical loss of 1.58 units. 1.58/0.5 = 3.16x. Close enough. :)
