I got an amazing deal through work to book 0-3 star hotel for any travel in 2015 for 10% off or 4-5 star 20% off, and naturally, I looked at my next Vegas trip and South Point qualifies for 20% off with $96/night first week of April...can't beat $77/night out the door. How are the comps there now with regards to mailers, bounce back, etc.? I was reading posts from a few years ago, and sounds like they were pretty generous then, but things change so I'm curious if anyone has recent experience to share. Thanks!

Yep, South Point used to be pretty generous with mail offers. Unfortunately, in my experience, mail offers have definitely tightened up all over Vegas this year and South Point is no exception.

I can't speak more specific because I don't know exactly what you are looking for. Also many location have different formulas for local mail offers as compared to out of town mailers. Being a local, I am also in the Axelwolf camp as far as room offers. They just have little meaning to me. Occasionally, my partner and I will accept free rooms and stay somewhere like Red Rock or Green Valley Ranch, just as a little mini-vacation and occasionally we use room offers for out of town guests, but when you start talking prices like $96 or $77, I can't even comprehend if that is a good price or not. Free seems like a good price...lol.

Not really an answer to your question, but they are known to be one of the sweatiest blackjack stores.

That they are. :(

Another consideration when staying at South Point is getting around. If you don't rent a car, you are limited. No walking to nearby casinos. You can see M resort, but it is farther than it looks....3 mile walk (I have walked it before). South Point has a shuttle but I think it is only for the airport. I think this because my first year in Vegas, when I used public transportation, I would often see South Point guests riding the public transportation bus. To get to the strip public transportation it takes two different buses.

It is easy to get food comped at South Point, FYI, if you're playing table games [rated].

I suspect a strong factor in their bounce-back formula has to do with actual loss. I've put through a good amount of action there and won quite a bit, and got 4 offers of $5 FP. Months later, I put through a similar amount of action, lost significantly, and got 4 offers of $75 FP.

Be sure to bet odds amounts in craps, I heard the dealers enjoy that there :)

To clarify, I only play VP so table games won't affect me. That's odd about strip transportation...I could have sworn I saw on their web site that they have a strip shuttle? I'll be driving, so I'll have my car anyway, but would think it's standard at any off-strip casino to offer strip shuttle service.
