So I went to the Wynn today. I saw a guy getting 300,000 in cash at the cage. Never have I seen so much cash. He had moderate sized man-purse it went into. He was playing baccarat in the high limit room and his action was less than 50,000 per hand. It was just nutty though. The money was already in a plastic transparent wrap.

I left with over 5,000 and my cash was prepped and wrapped too. I just never saw that kind of money all in one place in real life before. Just wacky!!!

Unfortunately, he bought in for $500,000... Do you think he brought the man purse "just in case"?

Is the money shrink-wrapped as a guarantee to its quantity or something? Presumably because counting out $300,000 would be ridiculous?

That's what bill counting machines are for. In this case the smallest possible way would be to gather 30 bricks of 100 $100 each. But first you'd have to break the little paper bands on each stack, and then they wouldn't pack the same way. It would take under 15 minutes to count.

One of the dealers at the craps table recited that small fortune larger fortune joke to me at the craps table on the same evening.

At most of the places I go to they count and give me loose bills no matter how much I leave with. The most I have left with from any casino is just over $20,000. And even then, they asked if I wanted an envelope rather than offer pre-counted bundles, but I just took all the bills and folded them in half and stuck them in my pocket.

This was the first time I got a "package" for the first set of bills that wasn't counted. But I definitely had "package envy."

I also saw and recognized and talked to Jean "Prince" Gaspard.

He had some TERRIBLE luck. But I don't think he's hurting yet even after watching him lose as much as he did so quickly. He didn't flinch.

I only went the the Wynn after being asked to leave the Silverton.

The Wynn came by and bothered me about my shot even though all my shots hit the wall, they only bothered me to say, "we want you to hit the wall every time" but every shot did all night long. Preventative harassment sort of thing, and the old, "we know who you are and have notes on you" type thing.

I really wanted to take a photo of all of that cash, but I couldn't come up with a way to ask or do it without feeling awkward about it. I dropped my jaw to the cashier and she did too, followed by a smile.

I should probably just stop hanging out at the Silverton anyway. I told the dealers at the Wynn I was only there because the Silverton asked me to leave.

They said, "you must have really done something for them to ask you to leave."

LOL.

Why did the Silverton ask you to leave?

Why haul all that cash from a casino?

An enterprising, observant thief (I would imagine they have them, even in Wynn) could be looking for just the sort of thing you saw, and could follow the guy and steal it from him.

A clever ring of thieves could have a spotter inside and a couple guys outside, in vehicles near the exit points, all communicating by cell, ready to locate and follow the guy when he leaves the property.

Could be pretty easy pickings.

Publicly doling out all the dough seems risky.

A check or wire transfer to the player's account would have worked just fine, wouldn't it?

No doubt the player requested it that way, for whatever reason.

I once saw an Asian lady close her account at Caesars after a trip. Her host had a box at the cage window for her.... about the size of a shoe box. And the cashier kept handing strapped 100s till the box was full.

Then the host asked "did you enjoy yourself?"

The lady's face remained emotionless either because she lost a bundle or had too much botox.

I know the Federal Reserve shrink wraps and bar codes large amounts of currency and these are sometimes transferred without being counted or ripped apart.

I think casinos are obligated to retain soft counts for a week in great big tubs wrapped in plastic.
