In the 60's they used to say all the nuts
roll towards Calif. Now it's CA, FL, AZ
and TX. Anyplace you can sleep outside
with just a tent year round.

Base board. Just a bunch of insulation leaks I'm too lazy to address, cuz I only notice when it's too cold to fix lol. Supposed to be up to 20*F today, so no worries.

And thanks, terapined, but I'd rather live in Thunder Bay than Tampa Bay. Dunno the weather as I can't care enough to check, but when in town at 1p yesterday, it was 6*F.

The high today in Minneapolis is going to be -16. The high.
Lake MI is saving me so far because its warm, but that won't

Well that is a benefit. Whether its a benefit of global warming, global cooling or what, I don't know, but at least they are no longer going around like prison inmates advertising their availability.

We got down to -22 without wind chill Friday night into Saturday morning. At that temperature, you can actually feel your nose hairs freeze to the insides of your nostrils.

6:00 AM, and the probe on the back porch gives a reading of -1.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

It's 55 degrees in Connecticut right now with heavy rain and lightning earlier. I left for the casinos and turned around because of the very dense fog. They're calling for it to drop back to single digits over night or sooner.

Are you standing in the lake and reporting what you feel? You must be the Northtowns.

I was leaving hockey when you posted this, was raining like mad and only had a sweatshirt on, perfectly comfortable. Woke up this morning and had a smoke on my patio in nothing but basketball shorts and a light blanket, still cozy. Think the bank said +22*F when I rolled through 10 minutes ago.

But it's coming. It's nice here at work, but the reported 20-30mph winds are already starting at home. With forecasted actual temps in the low negative single digits and gusts up to 60mph, I wonder what that wind chill works out to?

Thanks!

I reckon these forecast temps of -40*F must be windchill, then. Either that, or it's gonna feel -90*F at my house.

Either way, I gotta shower and hop outside quick, just to see what it feels like. Good training for St. Ignace, where I'll also be outside, soaking wet, in minimal clothing.

Yeah, your area scheduled to get it later this evening, with tomorrow probably being the worst.

Sounds pretty much like the same pattern we received- warmer temps causing rain/fog conditions, then sudden temp drops with wind.
Normally no big deal, but problem was the other day I drove home in misty rain. Left the car outside, went in to make some coffee, change clothes, etc.
Less than an hour later, went back out to run some errands. Car was completely iced over; had to fight to even get in. Once I had it running and thawed out, I had the pleasure of spending one-and-a-half hours traveling less than 5 miles- wrecks everywhere due to the iced roads.

8:30 AM and the reading is now -2.8 degrees F.
Sun is out with calm wind; they're predicting a high of 0.

I know! I was there when they shut it down! I was playing with an advantage so I was pissed!

The weather is really not all that bad. I dunno, maybe the salt isn't working on the roads, is that the thing?

Lake MI is still protecting MI from the real cold. When
it freezes over that will end. It's 4 above here, but
150 miles south in Indianapolis it's -15. We're
getting a ton of lake effect snow because of the
warm lake. The birds loving my feeders today.

I'm praying they don't freeze. If it's gonna be cold, I want snow, and lots of it. Plus I got a tourney that's supposed to be on Huron, and I really don't want to be out in the open like that. If it don't freeze, we get to move inland. Much nicer behind the trees.

I seem to remember them always freezing in my youth, although that could be selective memory. I can't remember the last time Erie's frozen recently.

It's down to 3*F now with a predicted drop to -8*F. I decided to pull a double so I don't have to get out of bed tomorrow. The I-90 and Rt 219 are already closed, as well as all area schools and community centers. With any luck, the Nation will close as well, giving me tomorrow off anyway, and I can then stay home Wednesday, too.

I hope my beer's not frozen =/

I better get more.

Yup. Everything melted, then it poured rain, then insta freeze. At least my buddy's outdoor rink is solid now, but I'm still not used to these dress shoes in this garbage. I'd be better off on my skates =)

Had a friend Ted Thomas who extended 1 year in US Army to get an overseas assignment. Nobody told him Tule, Greenland was overseas. Then they tried to extend him due to Vietnam War. He was a bulldozer operator and threatened to tell the Pentagon all the equipment he buried in snow and ice so they could justify new stuff. On a happier note, he won over $13,000 playing poker during his tour.

Partially. Some of the burners got clogged and snuffed out. Fired it back up and I'm now at about 62*, with all non-essential doors closed.

Was a nice little reminder about what a blessing utilities are.
