Hi guys,

I live in Texas but drive to Shreveport, LA to gamble at least once a month, and go to Vegas about once a year. When I first started gambling, after playing the table games for a at least 3 or 4 hours, all I want to make me happy is a free meal. At the two casinos I'm used to gambling at, all I had to do was ask the suit who was in my area "Can you check to see if I can get a meal for two?", and I would always get two free buffets, even on the weekend when the buffet was $29 a person because of seafood. But, just the other day, I went to a different casino that I'm used to, and after a few hours of my normal playing, I asked for a comped meal, and they said "Your comp rating is on your player's card, they can check your balance". What's my balance after playing for 4 hours betting $15 on the line with double odds plus at least four place bets of $15 or $18? $6.32. Ridiculous!!! Barely even bought me a sandwich. The same thing happened at Silverton Casino in Las Vegas. They don't have the suits give out comp tickets for a meal, instead they direct you to check your "card" for your "balance". This is an awful, impersonal way of doing comps that feels tacky in a way. It might be okay do this on slots where they know EXACTLY how much and for how long you've been gambling, but with table games, it makes me feel like I never want to ever play here again if they are just going to throw me bread crumbs for comps. Am I right or am I just spoiled by gambling at nicer casinos? Any thoughts on this?

I've wondered the same thing and have never really been given a reasonable answer. They'll tell you it's ADT, but obviously it was done in the past and the casinos made money as far as I know. I think for the most part power has been consolidated and it's just the line most casinos have all agreed to not cross. They're in control and all have decided it's mutually assured destruction of profits I guess.

Also, I think a lot of it has to do with corporate control of the industry now, compared to the past, and how powerful fewer companies have become. You can't take on billions of debt paying anything people want without having a way to get it back by either raising prices and/or cutting expenses.

There are probably some independent places which still do it the old ways more or less.
Just imagine you're only used to a buffet and what the other people used to get.
Don't fight with them or you'll get caught in their logic loop and you'll never get out.
I am a robot.
