Has anyone here ever played in one of Golden Nugget's $100,000 prize-pool Blackjack tournaments? They hold them once every couple months or so, and I'm thinking about giving it a go in November. Any advice anyone can give?

If you haven't already read Sklansky's tournament book. If it is a paid buy-in tournament there will be pro's playing.

I bought Stanford Wong's book, "Casino Tournament Strategy". Has anyone read that? Recommend?

Ken Smith is the most successful tournament player I'm aware of.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

Sorry, Stanford Wong's book was actually the one I meant. All of the principles in that book are pretty sound.

The biggest factor in the tournament will be the structure. The most important factor is that you are playing against the other players, not the dealer.

Very good. I've played in blackjack tournaments before, and generally do quite well in them, but I wouldn't consider myself a pro yet. I look forward to reading that book.

Is there any way that this tournament is unique to other tournaments? I know there's a "Mulligan" option, where you can replace a card.
