Took my parents here, tried to get them started on the $1 craps game, but they never took. My dad played $3 blackjack for five minutes and then quit just so he could say he won $7.50 in Vegas. I told him he actually won in Henderson. He seemed disappointed. The craps table is full of regulars and they are very entertaining. Hard to find a spot sometimes, but if you hang around, a space usually opens up. Always make it a point to visit on every Vegas trip.

I have a brother who reportedly flatly refuses to gamble when in Vegas for whatever. I havent been there to try to corrupt him, but likely something like this is all that would happen. Some people just won't gamble. In his case I don't think he can see it as entertainment, but views it as throwing away money, that's all he can see that there is to it.

Wow. A trip to Hendertucky and a whole $7.50 in profits.... it must have been exciting for him anyway!

A low-roll place like the Jokers Wild must be fun. Why fight traffic on the strip to get to the Venetian if its only going to be the same three minutes... but at 10.00 or 15.00 minimums?

Killjoy.

Don't you know that most people that visit Vegas, never set one foot in Las Vegas? You should have let him have his moment.

Most of the casino visitors are on The Strip which is legally outside of the city limits of Las Vegas. The Stratosphere is inside Las Vegas, the others are in casino-created cities such as Paradise and Winchester or something that only a few politicians even care about. The original reason for the creation of The Strip was to flee the regulation by the city of las vegas by going into unincorporated areas of Clark County.

While Flea gave a good answer, I'll give my own version, which I would think that anyone who knows the difference, will agree with me and even use the same references and differences.

"Las Vegas" refers only to the city of Las Vegas.

"Vegas" (without the "Las") generally refers to the tourist areas which includes the city of Las Vegas as well as the strip and surrounding areas. ("Vegas" can also refer to a state of mind, but that's a different matter.)

So, any Vegas tourist that does not go to the Stratosphere or Freemont Street, most likely hasn't gone to Las Vegas at all.

FYI: I'm guilty of this as well. I've been to Vegas four times, but Las Vegas only twice.

Has anyone actually been to the Jokers Wild recently?
Do they still have the ultra-low minimum craps table? I've not seen it mentioned on their web site recently.

All is well. The line on their web site about the one dollar minimum craps and 10x odds re-appeared ... or else I must have been too drunk and missed it the night before.

Boy can I relate. Bring my dad to the casino, doesn't really like to gamble but played VP for a free drink. Orders a southern comfort old fashioned, gets his drink, in the meantime wins 250 for 4 dueces wild. I say aren't you going to leave a tip? He say's what for, drinks are free in vegas.

There is probably alot to be said for these "cheap gambling" places such as Jokers Wild or Club Fortune.

When there is no pretense people get more relaxed. And life is uncomplicated. There are no delays for computer systems to reflect your accumulated points, there are not going to be any lines or atleast not any long lines for anything. The food will not be some fancy dish they've never heard of. The only French on the menu will refer to French Fries or French Dressing. No frills means no delays. If they want to drink, they drink. If they want to gamble, they gamble. If they want to eat at the buffet, there is a kiosk right there and its all fast and simple for them.

Some booze, a cigar, a simple red button in front of him ... life is good so why waste money on higher priced places. I think the casinos that offer a Bingo room long ago discovered that low cost, no frills approach works. Some donuts, some juice, some booze and some daubers via a vending machine ... and everyone is set to have a good time.

I'm reminded of the coffee shop at the Nevada Palace. You could get a great breakfast with coffee for about $5.

Stopped by Jokers Wild to see "The Table" and also play some cheap Three Card Poker. Craps was only half open with no available spots. Was told that 3CP was removed a year ago. Got bummed and left.
Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.
