I stayed there on a discount deal. Easy Parking, decent security and a clean fairly unused pool were the draws. The pool was open until 10 PM which I thought was nice, as most strip pools close much earlier. The jacuzzi was being used on Saturday night by some non guest Yahoos with an Ice Chest. I think they put bubble bath in the jacuzzi. So, the next morning at my request they drained it, hosed it down and put in fresh water. On Sunday? Now, that's customer service.

Say what you will but that event impressed me.

I was playing Craps and doing well. The drink service was very good and I got pretty tipsy. I changed hands while holding the dice which upset one of the dealers. He went overboard reprimanding me. We got into it a bit and came to a mutual understanding. I left mad and forgot to cash in my chips. Came back the next day and he was the pit boss. He must have been standing in for an absentee employee. He was still a dick but they get jaded over the years. I empathize.

We opted for the free 2 room suite upgrade which as the Wizard said in his review were less that spectacular, but, they had two separate rooms with a dividing door. Only one bathroom in the main bedroom so If I didn't want to wake my wife late at night when I came in that was a good thing. But, to do any business I went to the casino. She's a light sleeper.

The first room was too dusty so we asked to be moved to another room. It was much nicer with a different floor plan. So, check your room first before you unload your bags, They aren't all the same.

The two deck $5 dollar Blackjack offered good rules, with double after split and 3/2 Black Jack. Not bad. The $3 dollar was a six or eight deck shoe. They did make me wait for a shuffle to use a match play. They must sweat card counters there, or it's just a house rule or policy. OK, fair enough no harm. $10 match play. I won as I recall. The dealer, Mike, was too cool. What's a good dealer like him doing in this dump? Good Luck I guess at least for me.

You can spend hours chipping away at their nickle video poker 9/6 JOB on $20 bucks and have a good time. I don't really care if it's nickles or quarters. It's just the game so what. The drink service at the machines was acceptable with a decent tip.

I'd say for the money it's a value but it ain't the Bellagio. It's not too far from the East Side Cannery or Sam's Town, and Down Town is just a jaunt up the Freeway. Yes, you definitely need a car but if you don't mind driving around then this place is a good value, that's it.

Yes, you get what you pay for, but sometimes you can pay more but not get more and sometimes its just simpler to pay less and get what you want more promptly and easily, if without a few frills.

>I stayed there on a discount deal. Easy Parking, decent security and a clean fairly unused pool were the draws.
Discount and clean pool are particularly attractive themes these days, particularly after the urine content report that was recently released.
>The pool was open until 10 PM which I thought was nice.
Thats what I mean about "simpler". If you don't have a zillion drunken yuppies you don't have to chase them out of the pool early.

>Say what you will but that event impressed me.
At some larger facilities someone would still be writing a memo about it rather than getting it done.

>I changed hands while holding the dice which upset one of the dealers. He went overboard reprimanding me.
It happens. Best thing to do is just drop the dice to the felt, turn both hands up and down a few times for the camera and then pick them up again with one hand. He will be flattered that his comments had such an effect on you. In reality it just annoys everyone else at the table to have a delay and he will soon realize that.
>I left mad and forgot to cash in my chips.
You left them in the rail or on the table??? What happened??
>He must have been standing in for an absentee employee.
Its a small dice crew there isn't it? They sometimes close the table early. You may recall when some group of merry-making dealers invaded the 3:00am Bingo game to raise the merriment and tipping levels during what they felt would be an advantage Bingo session, the dealers then progressed to the craps table and the pit boss had to almost snare his dealers back from the employee exit to make up a crew. The drunken Bingo players who were tipping like there was no tommorow then became drunken craps players who were tipping like there was no tomorrow. And the crew that had been on the verge of an early out had a very profitable shift chasing errant dice thrown by drunks and cracking jokes with drunken poker dealers tipping the hell out of them. So the pit boss that night was very generous and responsive and things worked out well for the craps crew.

>The first room was too dusty
Talk about deal killers. Now there is one for me. And my companion!
> So, check your room first before you unload your bags, They aren't all the same.
Usually I'm too anxious to check out the casino to even notice the room but its the first thing my companion notices... and probably her highest priority is the cleanliness and luxury level of the room.

>The two deck $5 dollar Blackjack offered good rules,
>The $3 dollar was a six or eight deck shoe.
You can do worse at some of the mega themed places where it takes longer and its crowded and things are more expensive. So there is advantage to a cheap locals slot parlor with table games.
>What's a good dealer like him doing in this dump?
Holding onto whatever job he has while he looks for a better one, same as just about every other dealer in the place probably.

>You can spend hours chipping away at their nickle video poker 9/6 JOB on $20 bucks and have a good time.
>The drink service at the machines was acceptable with a decent tip.
That can be a real strong selling point. It ain't no swanky joint so they had better serve a good stiff drink!

>Yes, you definitely need a car but if you don't mind driving around then this place is a good value, that's it.
Sometimes its just nice to get some value rather than be in some swanky, perfumed-air prestigious place where you lose your money just as easily but have far higher minimum bets to make. And a place where you can get a hot dog in five minutes can beat a place where you can get a steak in half an hour.

Nice write up. Seems you had a pretty good time and stay(barring the dice fuss). I would stay at a place like this, my snob bar is set pretty low, so I would rather NOT pay for all the glitz. Give me a decent room, a decent game and decent drink service and I'm quite satisfied.
