I'm in wisconsin, and just started counting. There are $3 6dk tables. Was wondering if this is an optimal spread for $3 min. Dont have a large bankroll at this time. But when studying spreads all day today looks like some of them break even. Was wondering what anybody thinks about this spread to start. I've been kinda practicing for 7 yrs off and on. I used to be in the merchant marines, stuck out in the ocean, and always brought a discard tray, shoe and felt with. Tried for first time yesterday. Went at 6am so I could practice with just me and dealer and still full table of people telling each other to do. And pit boss asking me if I had a players club card twice right at the beginning of the shoe. Wow alot harder keeping count there than at home. Played 4 shoes left $20 ahead. And pretty funny guy didnt like it next to me when i kept winning on standing 16vs 10 at 0 and 15vs10 at 4. I just tried to mind my own business. So anyway will this count make any profit over time?
tc-1 -$3
tc-2 -$6
tc-3 -$15
tc-4 -$20
tc-5 -$30

Which system are you using? HiLo?

What are the games rules? Hit soft 17? Double after split? Penetration? Surrender? Etc.

It'll probably make some money, but, very little.

Thanks. Hi lo, and have some common indexes memorized. Penetration 80-85%, no DAS, no resplitting aces. No surrender, Stand soft 17
So $3-40 would be better? My plan yesterday was $3-20 but I felt I was off on the count by a little twice from halving to talk, so I was scared to bet. The count did get to plus 18 and 20 for 2 shoes ( I hate 14vs8,9 the most I think when the count is real high), and i was just doubling my bet trying to feel it out. I mean I could win $2-$300 couldnt I? or would that be alot for that small betting amount? I'm playing right now at home and the dealer (me) just won pretty much every hand when the tc was plus 5 or more in the last 2 shoes

You have much to learn (no offense). IMO you should buy CVCX and CVBJ. The first is a simulator, and it'll tell you how much you expect to make per hour, your risk, etc etc. The second is a practice program. It'll warm you of errors you made, keep the count with you, etc. It's the best software for card counting. I think both combined are $150-200 total. Definitely worth it.

The game you describe isn't too good....especially the no DAS and no LS parts.

This game isn't so bad. It's house edge is -0.548%. That's better than the standard H17, DOA, DAS at -0.618%. S17 easily makes up for no DAS, and LS is rare anyway. That said, with a unit of $3 and a max bet of $30, he's not going to make more than $8 per 100 hands in EV. The ramp he posted is not nearly aggressive enough.

Awesome thanks. I'm laid off right now tons of time. I practice all day. I was trying to see if i could slowly build a bigger bankroll off of $500 on $3 then move to $5min, But it sounds like I would be better off getting more money and making the ramp like this?

$50 max bet. How are these looking? Which one you guys think is better?

spread 1
1-$3
2-$10
3-$20
4-$35
5-$45

spread 2
1-$3
2-$6
3-$12
4-$25
5-$35
6-$45
Would I be better off backcounting for a cple trips? To slowly build bankroll? I'm pretty confident I can get away with it. Just betting $10?

Do you have a $5000 bankroll set aside for blackjack? If not, what is your bankroll? Take that and divide by 100, that's your max bet.

Awesome, lol so my max bet right now is $5. Yes I'll be rich! I did read that too, but I just watched that daniel dravot cold, warm ,hot card counting dvd and he said 20-25X max thats why I was trying that $3-20 spread. Well maybe I'm done till I get a real bankroll

If you have a $30 max bet and $500 bankroll, you might find your illustrious career over in a single shoe.
