Hi all,

It has taken a lot longer than I had hoped or planned, but a revamped version of WizardOfOdds.com is ready for this community's approval.

This is the temporary location of the new version

If you wish to, please check it out and report back any problems you find. There are likely still some pages which have formatting problems, so don't be surprised if you find some. Missing pages are especially important - so if you find any then please do report so here or send me a private message.

Thanks!

None of the links in the "Craps Menu" at the following location seem to work:

Actually, many if not all of the "game menus" have the same problem.

Links in Ask The Wizard (ATW) that pointed to a previous ATW don't work. http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/ask-the-wizard/164/ has 2 examples in the first and third questions.

Also a lot of images are broken in various game pages. http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/7-14-21/ is an example

The "four decks" link at this location leads to a directory listing:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/1/

The first link to at the following pages gives a 404 error:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/2a/
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/2b/

I believe the body text has been misplaced in the following location:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/6/

Many of the internal links do not work at the following location... I haven't investigated thoroughly, but I see at least one mismatch between href and name (#casinosurrender vs. #CasinoSurrender). Additionally, many of the headings show up as links:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/8/

I've got some other work I need to do, but maybe I can help out more later.

I just started scanning the new site, and this is my first comment. It appears that the archive of Ask the Wizard questions has been changed significantly, though perhaps they are just in a different order.

I selected the "Ask the Wizard: Craps - FAQ" page and noticed a problem with the 10th or 11th question down, the one from "Becky from San Antonio" that begins with "Hi - Great website! I’ve read lots of info here about tipping, but I’m still confused...." It appears that the answer was almost completely cut off. It just says, "You".

I think that I am too lazy to read the entire archive to pick out such glitches, but I thought I should point out that there seems to be some problem. I didn't immediately find that same question when I looked at the archive on the old site to see whether there is a complete answer there.

Looks great.

I immediately notice two "features" that are missing.

The user can no longer play with the colors. THANK YOU! I've always wanted to mention how idiotic it seemed to have such a goofy function on what is supposed to be a serious website. Oh, sure, it was fun to play with, but why was it there at all?

Mike's caricature is gone. As serious as the website is, there's nothing wrong with including a little personality by having that caricature. Also, it points to an "About this site / About the Wizard" page. Is such a page gonna exist on the new site?

For what it's worth, I have links on my Poker For Roulette site to that page. The reality is, I would have prefered to link directly to the "About the Wizard" section, but upon examination of your source code, I didn't see an anchor point to link to.

On that note, I'd like to see a lot more anchor points on the website.

Often, when posting on WoV in response to a question, I'd want to link directly to the answer on a WoV page. As it is now, I have to link to the page, then say "Go about xxx down to the xxx section..."

On the about page, Wizard's Helpers section:

"Cindy Liu: Cindy is a brilliant gaming mathematician just teamed up with the Wizard on March 21, 2011."

You're missing a "who" before "just." Perhaps the invaluable proofreader WHO IS THE VERY NEXT FEATURED HELPER could fix this ;)

In the Ask the Wiz section, under specific games, I checked
roulette, bac, craps, and BJ. In the FAQ sections all the ones
I looked at had multiple errors, in that some of the questions
had missing answers. A few answers had missing questions.
I can only assume that all the games have similar issues.

Thanks for all the comments thus far. Please keep them coming.

Reorganizing the Ask the Wizard was one of the most time consuming parts of the new site. Each question in 278 columns had to be categorized and perhaps some mistakes were made in the process.

Yes, I know the top banner looks too low def. I need to try to find the original file, which I believe was huge. If not, perhaps we'll frame it, and keep the original size.

I like the look and feel of the new site. Like others, I clicked into the ATW section. I happened to notice that the answer to one question was wrong, and I know that the Wiz corrected it. What is the data source for those columns? Is there a newer version of the information that is available? I'd guess that an old version is being referenced.

My guess is that JB copied the website during the interval between when that Ask The Wiz was posted and when it was corrected. Then he worked on the design for a couple months before letting us know about it.

LIR is not working properly. It seems to work until you hit "Deal Now" then no cards, nothing.

Have there really only been 4 ATW questions this year or are some missing?

I don't think the recent ones have been added to the new site yet.

Thank you all for your continued contributions.

Although I still think having additional anchor points would be nice, I realize that it would also create headaches.

As far as the links to the "About The Wizard" on my website, I just discovered that there is a seperate page for Mike's bio, here: https://wizardofodds.com/general/shortbio.html. I am now linking to that page.

This is a stylistic point entirely.

Under the Banner on the Home page, provIde the reader with an overview statement defining the purpose of the site. You have done this quite effectively at the WOV homepage.

Okay, in response to the following issues:

The links work fine for me. What browser are you using? Perhaps it is not redirecting properly.

The "four decks" link at this location leads to a directory listing:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/1/

The first link to at the following pages gives a 404 error:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/2a/
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/2b/

These pages also show up fine for me. I'm not sure what could be causing this.

I believe the body text has been misplaced in the following location:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/6/

Yup, it was, and is now fixed - thanks.

The "four decks" link at this location leads to a directory listing:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/1/
This is the linked URL:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/strategy/4-decks/

As far as these are concerned:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/2a/
This link works, but when you try to link to it from this URL (at the top):
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/2b/
It tries to send you to this URL instead:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/2b/appendix2.html

Works the other way too:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/2b/
This link works, but when you try to link to it from this URL (at the top):
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/2a/
It tries to send you to this URL instead:
http://snagglepuss.dreamhosters.com/games/blackjack/appendix/2a/appendix2b.html

Both of these lead to a 404 error.

Additionally, at the bottom of Appendix to 2a, there is a link to 2b, but it is labeled "2a"
